I've just watched Mums List. Proper sobbing watching it and I don't even have children.

Eight Below, Haachi and Marley & Me are sad too.

Stepmom broke my heart. There’s a brilliant film no one I know seems to have watched called 50/50 with Joseph Gordon Levitt that makes me bawl, it’s based on a true story and it’s gut wrenching to watch.

Not a film but a series but I’m still not over It’s A Sin.

I love 50/50 it makes me sob every time I watch it.

Oh and rabbit proof fence

It doesn't take much to make me cry. I cried watching Stepmom a few days ago but the Boy in the Striped Pyjamas I will never watch again because I found it so heart wrenching. Anything involving dying and families being torn apart through death upsets me.

Seven pounds

Longpinknails · 23/03/2021 18:30

Another vote for 'the boy in the striped pyjamas' I've watched it 3 times now over the past few years and each time, I really hope there's going to be a different outcome, but of course there never is. It always stays with me for ages afterwards and keep thinking about it.

KisstheTeapot14 · 23/03/2021 18:30

Another vote for The Pianist and Lion - though its a bit unequal as a film.
The child actor really steals the show.

Sadly a tale which happens many times over (bit of a plug for my favourite charity www.railwaychildren.org.uk)

If you do watch it and who could fail to be moved by the story? maybe send them a bob or two. They try to get to the children before anyone unsavory does. Yes, those types are on trains near cities looking for vulnerable children to exploit.

silverstrawberry · 23/03/2021 18:32

Oh and I see it's been mentioned I want to watch Philadelphia I kind of know what it's about can't even bring myself to watch it

PinkPanther27 · 23/03/2021 18:32

The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas and The Green Mile

Brakebackcyclebot · 23/03/2021 18:34

I came on to say Mum's List. I cried and cried and couldn't speak afterwards. It was exhausting. The family are from near me, and I know people who know them.

I also wept at the Boy in the Striped Pyjamas and Indecent Proposal. That last one sounds crazy but it resonated with events in my life so strongly.

Life is Beautiful

Trying to protect those we love from terrible things. Make me well up just thinking about it.

Pigeontoed · 23/03/2021 18:34

Truly Madly Deeply is beautiful and heartbreaking. Gran Torino is jst so bloody sad (sobbed in bed for about 3 hours afterwards), and the Lady Gaga/ Cooper version of A Star is Born literally breaks me. I saw it the first time at the cinema and was actually howling out loud, I think my Partner was a tad embarassed on the walk home as I was ugly sobbing, bright red and hiccuping, then continued to sob all evening. I thought ut was going to be a nice love story, nobody warned me!

Rachel1874 · 23/03/2021 18:34

Beaches 😭😭😭

Feelingsosadandguilty · 23/03/2021 18:37

Five Feet Apart. The most heart rendering story and Quite ironic after the past year 😢

Ilovewolfblass · 23/03/2021 18:37

7 pounds, beaches and man on fire

Twattergy · 23/03/2021 18:39

Definitely Life is Beautiful. I can't even think about the end, destroyed me. I also find the end of Remains of the Day extremely emotional, when he goes to meet her when they are old and still can't express his emotions. So beautifully portrayed and heart wrenching.

crispychicken12 · 23/03/2021 18:40

My sisters keeper
12 years a slave

Probably more but they're two that I know I'll get emotional at

wejammin · 23/03/2021 18:41

Rabbit-proof fence or I, Daniel Blake

Omg yes I’m not sure I’ll ever get over it... watched it for the 4th last night with hubby (first time) I still laughed and cried and cried and laughed

Beaches and my sisters keeper 😭😭

Sanddownlane16 · 23/03/2021 18:44

I am Sam. When he calls for his daughter in the court room i bawl every time.

Babs1953 · 23/03/2021 18:46

Schindler's list; and the Boy in the Striped pyjamas. The second one made me feel really distraught for quite a while afterwards.

Owl55 · 23/03/2021 18:47

Life is Beautiful, amazing film 😢😢

Lincslady53 · 23/03/2021 18:48

@middleager

I can't remember the name, but it's a film with Angelina Jolie, directed by Clint Eastwood telling the true story of a mother whose son goes missing and then seemingly returns.
The Changeling
