I've just watched Mums List. Proper sobbing watching it and I don't even have children.

Eight Below, Haachi and Marley & Me are sad too.

roxanne119 · 23/03/2021 18:55

Stratfordplace · 23/03/2021 18:58

Those films made by Farah Fawcett Majors re child abuse I found them too hard to watch.
Also The Champ with Ricky Schroeder and Jon Voight, I was in bits but I was very young.

Swingoutsistersledge2 · 23/03/2021 19:01

Kramer vs Kramer, Beaches ,The Green Mile , Stella and I can't even watch it now at 47 ET

BikeRunSki · 23/03/2021 19:02

Toy Story 3 had DH sobbing in the cinema.

Pliudev · 23/03/2021 19:07

Another vote for Brokeback Mountain. Though, and I'm giving away my age now, Old Yeller broke my heart when I was a child. Unfortunately, when I was working in a cinema during college holidays, Old Yeller was the B movie (yes I'm that old). I had to go in with the ice cream just before the dog was shot and was still in tears when the queue for ices formed.

Swingoutsistersledge2 · 23/03/2021 19:07

Another one Mrs Doubtfire as it shows the devastation Divorce has on young children . The ending when the magnificent Robin Williams reading out the letter from Katie breaks my heart everytime. Always kept this in mind when I split from my Ex.

Whynotchoosemetomhardy · 23/03/2021 19:08

Truly. Madly Deeply

Florelei · 23/03/2021 19:08

So many

Pursuit of happiness
A league of their own
The boy in the striped pyjamas

grannieali · 23/03/2021 19:09

Going back 73 years, it was Bambi and the loss of his mother. A close second is Dumbo's caged mother's lament.

Florelei · 23/03/2021 19:10

Oh and I properly sobbed for hours after It’s a Sin.

PilotRochester · 23/03/2021 19:15

@IReallyNeedMoreGin who will love my children!!! Oh my god, I had forgotten about that film. I watched it one Sunday afternoon at my parents house and I was traumatised.

Katr673 · 23/03/2021 19:15

Schindlers list, the boy in the striped pyjamas and I Daniel Blake.

mdh2020 · 23/03/2021 19:16

We were in Mexico for their Mother’s Day and there was a triple bill on tv - Stepmom, Term of Endearment and Steel Magnolias. I actually have a list of films I no longer watch including Prince of Tides, The Way We Were and Bridges of Madison County.

Minecraftmadness · 23/03/2021 19:16

I’m a big crier at films but these are ones I remember sobbing to...

Steel magnolias
Beaches
Watership down (listening to Bright Eyes still makes me emotional!)
Good Will Hunting - was emotional when the film started so it turned me into a sobbing mess - now just brings back memories

Had almost forgotten about Sleepers but it’s one of those films with a couple of scenes that will never leave me so I know I never want to watch it again.

mamamamamamamamamamachameleon · 23/03/2021 19:18

"I've Loved You So Long" and (as many have said) "The Boy In the Striped Pyjamas." Can never, ever watch either again. Any film with loss of a child has to be the most distressing. Doesn't take away from the fact these are both incredible films, but the after-effects stay with you for weeks.

UWhat · 23/03/2021 19:22

While other films have haunted me for a long time - for pure bawling its Marley and Me. I just remember the sad bit going on and on and on.

Stratfordplace · 23/03/2021 19:25

I forgot “The Way we Were” also Lady Sings the blues with DIana Ross and Love Story with Ryan O’Neal and Ali Magraw

EllysMom · 23/03/2021 19:26

Green Mile 😢

purpleme12 · 23/03/2021 19:26

Ah I love Rabbit Proof Fence and I Am Sam!
No one I know seems to have heard of them!

Sillybillymillyvanilly · 23/03/2021 19:29

Dancer in the Dark is utterly devastating. Grave of the Fireflies also broke me.

Filmbuffmum · 23/03/2021 19:34

Maborosi- early film by Koreeda (director of Shoplifters) about a young woman remarrying after her first husband has died suddenly. Breathtakingly beautiful, saw it at the cinema and wept.
