Thankfully most of the weird stuff would be moving with the owner I think. Hard to see what the house is actually like

ilikemethewayiam · 21/03/2021 17:40

🤮 I’d need the same amount of money in cash to rip everything out and refit it with some taste. Each to their own I guess!

Libraryghost · 21/03/2021 17:41

I saw this the other night while scrolling and I did wonder if I was hallucinating at first. I will say this though, it might not be to my taste but at least it’s original and different! You see so many boring identikit houses nowadays. Gerry has imagination. I wouldn’t like to do the dusting though.. !

ConquestEmpireHungerPlague · 21/03/2021 17:43

I'm finding it hard to see past all the cheap laminate flooring tbh.

EggysMom · 21/03/2021 17:43

Why use office chairs at the breakfast bar? (pic 8)

PandorasMailbox · 21/03/2021 17:43

It's like the Addams Family moved in with the Beverley Hillbillies Grin

jessstan2 · 21/03/2021 17:45

I don't like the fixtures and fittings, too gaudy for me, nor the statues but the house is lovely! It really is huge too. I couldn't get over the price: it would cost so much more in the London area.

Dwrcegin · 21/03/2021 17:45

Pic 4 is my favourite! Grin

They missed an opportunity to stick a mannequin in the bath/shower.

orangesnapples · 21/03/2021 17:50

@AnneShirleysNewDress

What's with the hand on the left hand side of the bar picture
Yes I saw that ! Looks like the hand is holding a candle stick ! WTH!! Lol

Violinist64 · 21/03/2021 17:50

Is this Laurence Llewellyn Bowen's house?

Standrewsschool · 21/03/2021 17:50

Good find!

Standrewsschool · 21/03/2021 17:51

Looks quite innocent from the outside.

Me too, it’s like he filled up a transit van in B&Q of laminate garbage. Hideous looks like some nasty new build. Utterly grotesque 😳
TheSparkleJar · 21/03/2021 17:52

The chair in the bedroom is blatantly a sex chair.

lalafafa · 21/03/2021 17:53

** A PROPERTY 'THE GREAT MR GATSBY' WOULD BE PROUD TO CALL HOME !

SpacePotato · 21/03/2021 17:53

The layout is awful.
Downstairs kitchen is shit for a house that size and why do you need a full kitchen upstairs?

The en suite to the master is ridiculously huge and some of the bedrooms are tiny. Such a waste of space.

Bloody love the dragons next to the front door though.

Libraryghost · 21/03/2021 17:54

Check this Essex McMansion monstrosity out.. Orchards, Great Totham

caringcarer · 21/03/2021 17:57

Once the owners move out all their old stuff the rooms look spacious. A new kitchen and makeover and it would be lovely.

watingroom2 · 21/03/2021 17:58

can you imagine the estate agent rubbing his hands with glee.. alll those 'views' must be a buyer..

They will be i the paper before you can blink!!

That’s so awful. If I had five million I would buy a beautiful Georgian house, not a new build mansion. I’ve never seen one that looks good, apart from when they use local stone etc and really put some thought into it. These will look so dated and scruffy in 20 years.

Standrewsschool · 21/03/2021 17:59

Some of the ornaments/antiques I actually quite like. Also, like the dining room table and chairs.

Mannequins and nude -on-horse picture, not so much.

The house is certainly a lot of fun, and stripped back, even with some of the unique ornaments, could be quite nice. Beats grey interiors!

Yapplepearora · 21/03/2021 18:01

My mum is a dog boarder. She boards and walks for a multimillionaire couple and has worked for them for 8 years. They are very generous and will always pay her more than her listed prices and bring her lovely gifts back from their holidays as a thank you. They are both retired and seem to have complete financial independence, and their house similar to if not worse than this.

She has told me that when she has gone to pick the dog up (the woman often invites mum in for a cup of tea and they are sort of friends now) there is a grand piano literally hanging mid air in the reception area. The kitchen gets painted all sorts of bizarre colours on a whim. There is a shrine for the cockapoo with a hand painted portrait and large sculpture. Lots of leopard and zebra print furniture as well.

I think perhaps when people reach a point where they have financial freedom and independence, they sometimes go a bit eccentric with their houses just to be able to spend their money on something.

Harryo · 21/03/2021 18:01

@2bazookas

Nah, I could never live in a house with only ten toilets.
Meghan, is that you? Wink
