What’s Happening In Your House?

My day has been an odd one so far & everything feels just not quite right - can’t explain it really. It hasn’t helped that I’ve had awful stomach ache & it’s really cold ( sea mist I think). I haven’t eaten anything so about to have an open sandwich. DH has made another amazing loaf. DD12 is painting Harry Potter Ravenclaw House panels on her bedroom wall. I was dreading the mess but she’s actually done a very neat job. She was standing on her bed admiring her work, stumbled then made me laugh by saying “ Don’t fall off your bed kids”. We were also amused by a bit of masking tape which had stuck to her light shade. This doesn’t sound like much but I treasure these shared moments as DD more or less lives in her room these days.
Just realised I hadn’t replaced my HRT patch so that explains some of the being out of sorts. Having a DIY tea as I forgot to defrost my lamb rogan josh, the pilau rice for both of us & the Naans. May buy a chicken to roast tomorrow.

@UnaLength gosh Kath & Kim is a blast from the past!! Used to love that show 😊

en0la · 20/03/2021 17:09

I made a bacon sandwich as a treat and dropped it on the floor so had a slice of bread instead 😡 no lunch as I was busy, ds is on his PlayStation with his mates and I'm on here.

HelloCanYouHearMe · 20/03/2021 17:11

Drove DP to get his Covid vaccine, swung by DSis and DPs houses to say hi from the end of their driveways, home for some lunch then out for a walk in the sunshine and now snuggled up on the sofa with wine watching England in the rugby.

Once this is over DP will crack on with dinner and we'll most likely watch a film

UnaLength · 20/03/2021 17:14

@BrunoMars I've just watched the one where Kim decides she's going to be a beauty therapist and injects filler into Sharon's forehead instead of her lips.

I may have called DH a 'great hunk of spunk' this morning too!Grin

Husband bought a ladder and drill this week so today he's been cleaning all the high bits of the house and putting holes in all the low bits.

I've been sorting a new laptop which should just work.out the box...yeah right!

Now cooking tea and a lazy evening.

I’m sat at dining table with DP, who is watching football on his phone, and impatiently waiting for sushi to be delivered. DS is in front room playing Sonic. Feel so groggy today, virtually attended a family funeral this morning and I think it’s drained me, to be honest. I just want to eat my dinner and go to bed.

@LuvMyBoyz that early coffee date and crossword sounds just perfect.

PantherPantherus · 20/03/2021 17:45

That's absolutely not possible TimeTravellingDuchess because only time travel into the future has been proven.

GodsPersonalAssistant · 20/03/2021 18:02

Listening to Kraftwerk with my husband and teen son who thought that they were from 'the early 2000s' - we just had a pretend domino's - i.e. that Aldi giant garlic bread in the box which if you heat up in the oven, then cut and put back in the box is just like something from domino's (well, almost). We are talking about out family's very eventful week: older son (at University) got a positive covid result and his semi-new phone died; whilst younger son is in the midst of a 'sentimental storm'...

we had beer with the garlic bread and now chilling before we decide if we are going to have a later supper or if that was enough.

Probably there's going to be some thriller watching later. We like anything on TV as long as there is murder in it. If in a cold, scandinavian country even better.

mbosnz · 20/03/2021 18:02

DH is reading his kindle, I'm watching Highway Cops and hoping not to become a sobbing mess of homesickness while so doing, DD2 has just made a round of milkshakes and is having a shower after binging on Incension, and DD1 is out with boyfriend for a walk.

TimeTravellingDuchess · 20/03/2021 18:08

We had a light Tuna Nicoise lunch then went into the garage and went time travelling for an hour. DH has one of those Proton 3000 machines that Tencent-Dyson brought out last year. We thought we would travel back to 2021 to see what the Worldwide Virus Lockdown looked like and it was weird actually. Still a lot of petrol cars on the road even then.

trappedsincesundaymorn · 20/03/2021 18:12

I've just got home from work and DP is cooking a chilli. he did all the housework today and got the click and collect order. This evening I'll have a glass of wine and watch a bit of telly and he'll be in the study gaming. It's been a busy shift so a bit of down time on my own will be perfect before anyone piles on about him not being in the same room as me.

HandforthParishCouncilClerk · 20/03/2021 18:13

DS (4) has SEN and is often up a lot in the night, last night being no exception, so it’s been a sluggish sort of day. Walked the dog this morning, and did some cooking then took DS for a walk into town and to M&S because DH has become addicted to their marmite hot cross buns and was desperate!

Baked a pesto and tomato tart for supper while DS and the dog watched Mr Tumble and DH cleaned the bathroom, and now DH is doing DS’s bath, and I’m choosing some bedtime stories to read when he gets out.

Am slightly counting down the minutes to bedtime so I can have a bath and watch Outlander.

Chimeraforce · 20/03/2021 18:20

Made Egg and bacon baguette for breakfast.
We've been for a walk to the local park earlier which was nice. All the blossoms were out.
Made pina coladas.
Now waiting for pulled pork to be cooked on the BBQ. Nearly done, just as well as DD surfaced from her crypt saying she's hungry.
I'll have cider and probably sex later.

TawnyPippit · 20/03/2021 18:35

DH took a pragmatic decision that the best way to get peace to watch 2 rugby matches and all the warm up/post match commentary was to volunteer to sort out supper for the 45 mins or so between them. So he has been to the weekly fish van this morning, got some lovely sole and is prepping stuff in fits and starts. Hot cross bun bread and butter pudding for afters.

DD (17) has found an interest in rugby (inexplicable to me and quite unlike her usual borderline emo lifestyle - possibly the Louis Rees-Zamia effect). So she and DH are sitting at the sofa having a shout, him with a beer and her with a glass of Prosecco. They are both ramping up their alleged Welshness for the later match. I have done a leisurely yoga session and am sitting on a different sofa with my iPad and also a glass of Prosecco. The sole is smelling nice.

DS is at university. I spoke to him earlier. Apparently “the girls” in his flat have pioneered a new drink of frozen strawberries and cider in a nutribullet, which he was whole-heartedly recommending. Gotta love students!

The cats are having a crazy half hour.

Actually, life is not bad Smile.

Mehmehmeh19 · 20/03/2021 18:42

I'm drinking a rather nice Sauvignon Blanc in the kitchen whilst cooking tea. Watching the split as I do. I've developed an absolutely massive crush on Stephen Mangan.

grassisjeweled · 20/03/2021 19:19

Took the kids ice-skating this morning, they loved it. Got home, BIL and Co arrived after about 15 mins. They stayed for 4 hours. Brought a birthday cake for the kids which was nice. Had a walk and sat outside. I'm exhausted now. DH is putting a BBQ together with the kids, I'm inside, feel wiped out from all the social stuff

BiddyPop · 20/03/2021 19:49

Mid-teen Dd is cutting soft fruit as her dessert of sorts (she had dinner herself an hour ago).

Dh is finishing in the next 5 minutes, "he promises ", work he started 6 hours ago. I think he actually meant it.

I am sitting down for those 5 minutes with a glass of Sherry, hoping dinner doesn't get too cold. If it stretches to 10, I will be going ahead and eating alone.

TheBigBaboon · 20/03/2021 20:01

Son is downstairs cooking dinner and I'm in bed with my DP.

I haven't been up all day !
