Do your children look like you or their dad?

We are expecting our first baby in August and I'm daydreaming about what he/she will look like.

DH and I are complete opposites lookswise, it's almost comical. Hes very tall with olive skin, brown eyes and jet black hair. I'm a short arse with green eyes and that pale blonde washed out look thing going on Grin. I wonder if our baby will go to one of the two extremes or somewhere in the middle!

Just curious really!

Well they all start off short so you won't know for a while.
Different people will see different things in them. My mum claims my dd looks just like me, but I see my dh when I look at her.
Anyway I am dark - hazel eyes and dark hair. Dh is similar but with blue eyes and was blond as a child.
Ds - fair with blue eyes
Dd1 - very dark with brown eyes
Dd2 - light brown hair, hazel eyes

@RandomDent

One looks like me. One looks like dad. Yet they both look like each other!
My partner looks like their maternal grandad and his brother looks like their paternal uncle, yet they both look very alike and are clearly brothers. It's very odd!

I have no idea who my daughters look like, certainly not me, I’m tall, thin, olive skin, dark haired, they’re both short, curvy, very light skinned and blonde.

They have none of my features. They do have my blue eyes though.

Their Dad is shortish for a male, dark hair, olive skin, & brown eyes. The girls don’t have his features either.

They are a bizarre mix of all sorts of people. Eldest DD looks like my aunt when she was that age (20s). Aunt is now almost 90, but in photos of her from the 1940s they are SO similar.

Eldest DS looks very like his father - and his nana. So they obviously look alike.

Next DD looks like my sister (who is the polar opposite to me).

Youngest DS looked exactly like eldest DD as a child - now in his teens he looks faintly like his father (but VERY like DHs nephew on his sister's side). However, when he turned his head suddenly to look at me the other day I caught a real glimpse of my dad.

Mindyourownbobbleheadedness · 17/03/2021 22:37

Me. My husband says I must have dominant genes. One has my husband's eye colour at least Grin

Rayn · 17/03/2021 22:40

I have five to two different fathers and all five look like me and have the same colour eyes as me!

LeslieYep · 17/03/2021 22:42

Eldest DD. DH without a doubt.
Youngest DD, neither of us!

MargaretThursday · 17/03/2021 22:43

One is a true mixture, one spit of dh, one is absolutely my side straight down my mum's side to a point that they really resemble several of my ancestors.

macaronirabbit · 17/03/2021 22:44

My DD is literally a younger version of me and everyone has said that from the moment she was born. She has DH hair colour but my (pasty) skin and my eye colour and similar features to me.
However we recently got a baby photo out and she looks like baby version of MIL, which we have never thought before.
DS is very much like me in pics of me as a kid, but you wouldnt automatically say he looks like me now. He has DH skin tone (tans easily) and eye and hair colour.

23PissOffAvenueWF · 17/03/2021 22:48

DS is the spit of me, it’s sometimes like looking in a boy-shaped mirror.

DD absolutely has DH’s colouring, including a direct copy of his eyes, but the person she most resembles, to me, is my Mum (visually, I’m my Dad’s side of the family, and that’s what DS has got).

They both inherited a light smattering of his freckles, so he can be sure they’re his. Wink

Midlifephoenix · 17/03/2021 22:50

My daughter looks so much like my sister (which is weird as I look nothing like my sister), has my hair but her father's eye colour. My son looks like his Dad.

Timeisavirtue · 17/03/2021 22:56

My DS looks like his dad, but he has some of my features. Like he has brown eyes and brown hair the same as me but his dad has green eyes and black hair. Dd has some of her dads features but she actually looks like my mum and my sister when they were younger.

Timeisavirtue · 17/03/2021 22:56

They both tan very easy which is something they got from me as DP burns like a bitch 😂

Corcory · 17/03/2021 23:17

Our two look very like my family, in fact our son looks so like my nephew it's uncanny. His personality is so like my late brother, he gives great comfort to us all given he and his sister are adopted and are no relation at all it's just incredible.

thelightishere · 17/03/2021 23:20

@Springingintospring

My dd lookslike my MIL. So be prepared, that happens.

MondeoFan · 18/03/2021 09:58

Both DD are like me. Both blond and blue eyes. My eldest is exactly like me, same shape body, same long fine hair, same teeth, even her voice. When she answers the phone people think it's me.
My youngest will be taller than us I think but with the same look as us.

EKGEMS · 18/03/2021 19:34

Carbon copy of myself. He looked like my hubby at age three when he was a blonde but he's now a 20 year old green-eyed brunette
