Before I get it wrong...what trainers do your pre-teen dd's wear??

Dd2 needs new trainers & I've been hunting t'interweb today.

Before I manage to suggest the wrong thing (and get told off, again, like I did for suggesting she wear mine for PE tomorrow Grin), what should I have in my online basket to suggest?

Black New Balance here..

Guilty myself Grin

Elzbells · 16/03/2021 16:45

Nike Air Force 1's

BorisandHarriet · 16/03/2021 16:46

Are they to wear out and about or just for sport / PE?

KingsRoad · 16/03/2021 16:58

For primary school PE? Or secondary? My dc are very sporty so ones they could actually do sport in like Brooks for secondary.

Does the school not have any rules about it? Ours had to be completely black at primary but the PE lessons weren't as intense and they didn't go outside in the wet or cold so it mattered less.

dancemom · 16/03/2021 17:02

Air Force or Converse

lucysmam · 16/03/2021 17:03

Primary PE. But she does sometimes wear them out and about too. She's not overly sporty so not for anything in particular. & no rules at school about colours etc.

Both mine like Air Force (13 and 10).

AlwaysLatte · 16/03/2021 17:05

Oh sorry they are boys though! If she's a girly girl they might not be so desirable.

Laila747 · 16/03/2021 17:07

Air Force 1 and that’s it....she couldn’t possibly ever consider anything else Hmm

Forkorspoon · 16/03/2021 17:08

Yep, Nike Air Force here to. Vans in the summer

lucysmam · 16/03/2021 17:14

Uff, I keep hitting the wrong keys on my keyboard & think I deleted my last post somehow 🤷‍♀️

Air Force 1 are definitely not in my budget. Her classmate was amazed the other week that I didn't have a clue what she had on her feet 🤣 Trainers are just not my thing.

Dd has finally expressed a preference for black ones!

My 11 year old DS lives in his air force 1’s

BluntlySpoken · 16/03/2021 17:45

Air forces nothing else, used to be air max 90s

Delphigirl · 16/03/2021 17:47

Black Air Force 1s, nothing else will do

It’s a uniform innit

MsAwesomeDragon · 16/03/2021 17:50

Mine wears cheap and cheerful from shoe zone for school PE. Would never be seen dead in them outside school. She likes Fila for everywhere other than school. I'm not sure how easy hers would be to actually do sport in though, as they're really chunky and heavy.

Zofloramummy · 16/03/2021 17:51

I just bought Tesco own brand boys trainers as they were the only size 2’s for my 9 year old. I’m obviously a fashion fail as a mother!!

Zofloramummy · 16/03/2021 17:52

My 9 year old is a girl but I wasn’t buying white or bright pink for school PE. We went for navy blue.

Bid876 · 16/03/2021 17:52

Just tell her to add what she likes to your basket, tell her to pick a few then go through them with her, see which ones they have in her size and you can afford. Job done. I have 2 primary aged DDs one sporty and one not. They wear what I can get within my budget and that in DD2s case support her ankles so quite often I will get her boys ones as they tend to be better support. The sporty one goes through loads so she gets the cheapest in her size out of which ever ones she puts in my shopping basket.

minniemoocher · 16/03/2021 17:56

At primary - asda ones. Dd only got branded ones when she started taking running seriously, hers are from the running shop

H1978 · 16/03/2021 19:20

Dd 10 wears trainers to school, they don’t have rules as they wear pump indoors. She wears either her Sketchers or some Nike trainers I got in the next sale.

PandemicPalava · 16/03/2021 19:22

Nike Air Max - she has a black pair and a light pink pair

mummyof2boys30 · 16/03/2021 19:23

My son is 11 next week and loves clarks 🙈 i have been trying to get him into nike 😂 he will have to before starting secondary in September

Soontobe60 · 16/03/2021 19:26

At primary age my DDs got whatever were on sale in Sports Direct or the local supermarket. Once they went to Secondary school they had a budget and found their own. If they wanted more expensive ones they had to put towards them.

Ilovemaisie · 16/03/2021 19:27

A pair from Shoe Zone or a supermarket.
Don't fall into this 'must have a label' crap*. It's parents acting like this that puts the idea into children's heads.
*Unless she needs good quality for a sports group. If that's the case ask the coach for recommendations.
