Meg and Harry supporting race and mental health charities in UK

Brilliant to hear this. They have approached three charities in UK including Mind and a charity to increase diversity in the media and press.

Great, doing good based on their experiences.

don't think saying didn't have mental health issues, clearly they do. What is in doubt is why Harry didn't help his wife? Charles got lots of stick for not helping Diana back in the day when things were less talked about. Harry doesn't stop talking about mental health - he couldn't listen to his wife and make some decisions? That's what is not credible.

They arranged obstetric care and rejected all the royal doctors that would normally be used and arranged for the birth to be in secret and informed the family after the event. They had more autonomy and privacy then they are presenting for sure.

Marmaladeagain · 15/03/2021 15:04

don't think we're saying she didn't have mental health issues - should say above.

@MummyJ12

MythicalBiologicalFennel, I couldn’t agree more. Diversity and equality are issues that absolutely need addressing and highlighting. Much needs to change and as a nation, we have so much to learn. Unfortunately, I do not feel the H&M are the candidates to champion either of these important issues. They currently seem to stand more for division than diversity and unification. Bitterness and resentment rather than health and happiness.

No that is what their detractors stand for.

Cokie3 · 15/03/2021 18:27

@customwatkins

Those two don't do anything that doesn't benefit themselves.
@customwatkins You know that for a fact, do you? Or is it just your bitterness showing.

They are the correct people to back such charities. Meghan's interview has shine a spotlight on racism in the UK.

Watch an Indian MP raising the issue of racism in the UK in the context of the Meghan Interview:

The UK's racism is now being talked about all over the world. Smile

If this is true then good! Poor Archie wasn't given security. Of course they are going to want to protect him!

HmmmmmmInteresting · 15/03/2021 18:35

@sluj

If they are supporting as private individuals why are they "announcing" it on their website? I think they are struggling to realise they don't really have a place anymore and should just donate anonymously like the rest of us.
Why should they be anonymous? Their high profile is essential to initiatives like these.

This article explains what they will be doing wrt helping to lower barriers to entering journalism for people from diverse backgrounds:

Awesome work!Smile

Sorry, @HmmmmmmInteresting - but you sound gleeful about that. I guess it suits you to have strife but - and here’s something to consider - most people , and I very much include all people of colour in this, want harmony.

You doing a smiley face about a serious issue is rather sick, actually. I don’t think you care a jot for Harry and Meghan, and just see this issue as handy to stoke your political agenda.

Cokie3 · 15/03/2021 18:41

@EsmaCannonball

Where does Archewell money come from and how much is spent on charity and causes as opposed to running costs? What are the running costs? I hope they answer these questions.

Also, why is it pronounced 'Arch-well' and not 'Arki-well'? Saying 'Arch-well' feels like you're chewing something.

@EsmaCannonball Probably because their son, which it's named after, is Archie. Pronounced Arch-ee. Not Arkie? Archie is short for Archibald.
IrmaFayLear · 15/03/2021 18:43

“Lower barriers” - how patronising can you get? Let me tell ds’s gf that whopeee! She’s getting a job because of lowering barriers Otherwise she’d never have been taken on... Hmm

Most people want harmony. Yeah, seems like it. 🙄
Cokie3 · 15/03/2021 18:45

@dogsonlead A 'cultural heritage' that means silencing POC? If so, that is no 'cultural heritage' to be proud of, it needs to be demolished.

Keep your wig on. Lowering financial barriers to entry is a GOOD thing. Unless Meghan is behind it 🙄
HmmmmmmInteresting · 15/03/2021 18:48

They're even criticising the name of the foundation. I've heard it all now 😂

I think they mean barriers such as not being able afford to carry on studying, or perhaps as schools in certain areas tend to have poorer exam results, so academic support so everyone gets the same chances. Not lowering application and interview criteria and levels.
Roussette · 15/03/2021 18:51

Why would 'Arche' be pronounced 'Arki'? Am I missing something. Or am I being a bit daft

Cokie3 · 15/03/2021 18:55

@rosetylersbiggun

Meghan could single handedly cure cancer and bring about world peace and Mumsnet would still screech themselves sick that she's just an uppity attention whore.

Donating money and raising awareness of smaller charities is clearly a good thing. Harry and Meghan have done far more to support smaller charities than William and Kate, who's not visited some of her patronages even once since she became patron!

Saying his family are demoting him due to mixed race wife is actually unforgiveable.
No, bullying him out due to marrying a biracial woman is actually unforgivable.

And please stop trotting out the lie that they left because they wanted privacy or a life outside the spotlight. Meghan's never said she wants or left to get privacy, ever.

Quoted in it's entirety because every paragraph is true. The vultures on this site who hate a woman for nothing more than calling out the racism and abuse she has experienced are disgusting. My only comfort is that karma has a habit of finding these abhorrent and nasty people, who were no doubt school bullies.

You're not missing anything. It's the previous poster being daft.

@GoLightlyontheEarth Because it’s all about making money, publicity and undermining the RF.

No, that is how you choose to see it because of your agenda.

That’s a good article @HmmmmmmInteresting

OP posts:
Cokie3 · 15/03/2021 19:17

@IrmaFayLear

If they stuck with one or two charities, that would be fine. But they appear to be always adopting new ones.

Can a supporter please explain Harry’s dumping of a memorial for Royal Marines in order to attend the Lion King premiere? To me actions speak louder than words.

@IrmaFayLear He was not asked to nor was it his duty to attend a Marines function.

He was attending the Lion King premiere as it was in aid of a CHARITY they had sponsored regarding saving lions in Africa. So it was his responsibility to be at the premiere.

"If this is true then good! Poor Archie wasn't given security. Of course they are going to want to protect him!"

You mean like Edward's children don't get security - Edward son of the reigning monarch. Harry grandson of monarch.

Harry was being moved aside over the last few years as happens in every generation and as George grows - blaming it on racism is ridiculous - it is primogeniture.

William then George and then George's children etc etc

Harry would have disappeared from view over next 10 years in the royal family anyhow. It isn't racism, it's a tantrum by Harry.

In due course when Archie when Charles is on the throne then Archie would be the David Linley of current times, who's that you say? exactly.

Lovely how these "kind" caring posters call others that disagree with them "vultures". Funny in fact. Talking of facts, that's some facts for you above - Harry isn't important, he thinks he's important and he isn't.

Truth will out in time. The world will be talking about what a fool he's made of himself again.
