Where do you keep your vegetables like potatoes, carrots etc.

We don't have a garage which I suppose a lot of people keep them.

We currently keep them in a cupboard but I'm forever wiping the shelf because there is always bits etc

Thanks

In the veg drawer of fridge if there's room, otherwise in the store room (which is dark and cool). Could you not get a vegetable rack for the garage?

Bloodybridget · 13/03/2021 15:17

Oh I'm sorry, completely misread your post, doh!

Keep them in a paper sack in the cupboard?

Serena1977 · 13/03/2021 15:20

I cant fit them in the veg drawer of the fridge because of all the fruit and salad.

I think I'll get a paper shopping bag. I can only think of primark that have paper bags though!

In a veg rack in the cupboard, and the potatoes in a sack.

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 13/03/2021 15:21

Artist in the fridge & I don't but potatoes (low carber)

If I bought potatoes I'd probably use the space under the cabinets on the outside wall as it has air vents (dark & cool)

HeyMicky · 13/03/2021 15:22

I have special sacks for potatoes and for onions which contains any mess, and they live on the bottom pantry shelf. Everything else goes in the fridge

Nospringchickendipper · 13/03/2021 15:25

In a vegetable rack in the cupboard under the stairs

The phone might be stored down the bloody toilet if it doesn't stop changing what I write!!!!

Carrots in the fridge, there is NOT an Artist in my fridge !!

thistimelastweek · 13/03/2021 15:34

Artist in the fridge? Would that be Bacon?

Bedtimedear · 13/03/2021 15:36

I keep mine in a bowl in a cupboard

orangenasturtium · 13/03/2021 15:38

I keep them in linen vegetable bags in the pantry. An alternative would be storage boxes in your cupboard. I use the Ikea Variera ones in my fridge as it is easier to pull out a box of cheeses or jars than rummaging through the shelf to get to something at the back.

Elouera · 13/03/2021 15:38

Also have mine in a large, plastic bowl in the cupboard.

GiantKitten · 13/03/2021 15:38

I have a dark base unit in a cool NE corner and store spuds, onions, swede etc in there (& carrots, if there’s no space for them in fridge).
Yes, they can be a bit dirty, but shelves wipe clean easily.
Or you could put them inside a plastic crate on the shelf?

Gerla · 13/03/2021 15:41

I have an Ikea trolley in the corner of my kitchen and I keep potatoes there (in a special bag so they are in the dark), onions too. Other veg in the fridge.

Gerla · 13/03/2021 15:43

This sort of thing:

Potatoes need to be kept in the dark.

yeOldeTrout · 13/03/2021 15:44

what kind of fruit do you need to keep in fridge?

maddiemookins16mum · 13/03/2021 15:46

Everything in fridge, except spuds.

Bearsbearsbears40 · 13/03/2021 15:47

I’ve got a couple of plastic IKEA boxes in my kitchen cupboard to keep veg in. Easy to take out and give a quick clean every so often. I still need to teach DH to not put the fresh veg on top of the older stuff though! 🙁

ThePricklySheep · 13/03/2021 15:48

We keep apples in there, until there’s room in the fruit bowl. Seems to make them last a bit longer. Sometimes we all go through loads, sometimes not. Then grapes and berries.
bloodywhitecat · 13/03/2021 15:56

Carrots and most veg except onions in the fridge, potatoes in the garage but before we had a garage I just bought enough spuds for the week and kept them in a spud bag in the veg rack in a dark cupboard.

dementedpixie · 13/03/2021 15:59

Carrots and salad veg in the fridge (except tomatoes) Soft fruits in the fridge too
Onions and potatoes in a cupboard along with apples and tomatoes

Fluffycloudland77 · 13/03/2021 16:02

I buy everything frozen except potatoes and onion which go in the fridge.

dementedpixie · 13/03/2021 16:11

Don't think potatoes are supposed to be stored in the fridge.
