Why do anti Vaxxers go around telling people that all vaccines contain....

Aborted foetuses?

I am fed up with having this conversation with my daughters father. He says when I had the COVID vaccine I will have aborted foetuses in that vaccine. He asked if I considered what sex the child would have been 🤔

How can these people be so sure they know stuff that nobody else does whilst clearly showing that they are too ignorant to have even read about the basic science?

Because for many antivaxxers, "rational" doesn't come into it. This is a deep-seated fear that then gets disguised as something logical - ergo a flimsy sense of 'science' or any cohesive thought. It is a fragile house of cards, but they'll cling to it for as long as they can.

Anon778833 · 13/03/2021 13:20

It certainly is a house of cards. After a while it becomes tiresome. I’ve had a flare up of IBS and he said ‘well I told you not to get the vaccine’

So he’s convinced the vaccine has caused IBS

My IBS flared up when I was surrounded by people who were tiresome, OP :)

Yes I agree. This year has been hard for us all I think in many different ways. My Ex partner became involved with QAnon, Trump worshipping etc. He has MS. He is now convinced that it was caused by a vaccine. I’ve had a terrible time over the past year and we have a one year old.

Maybe this is a culmination.

Ah, yes that makes even more sense. A family member was the same, and my fibromyalgia symptoms went through the roof, including IBS. I would agree that it's very possible this is a culmination. One of the things I've learned about living with a chronic condition is that it is highly beneficial in telling me when I am trying to tolerate intolerable circumstances.

nothingcanhurtmewithmyeyesshut · 13/03/2021 20:00

Tell him there so much shit spewing out of his mouth that your arse went out in sympathy.

FromDespairToHere · 13/03/2021 20:19

My IBS flares when I'm stressed, I used to have a flare-up nearly every time I had to deal with DD's father!

And they say that about aborted foetuses because they are absolutely incapable of critical thinking.

Anon778833 · 13/03/2021 22:15

I have had a terrible afternoon and have spent 3 hours crying. I feel that this situation has pushed me to the brink along with all the Covid stress, not being able to see my oldest daughter because she lives in a care home and she’s been very upset too because I’ve not been able to go and see her due to lockdown rules. A whole year of this with him has been just too much.

Oohhh I’ve not heard this one.

I have heard frequently from MIL how she can’t believe we’re having the vaccine when it’s been rushed through all of the testing and she’s very concerned about the danger we’re putting ourselves in Hmm

murbblurb · 13/03/2021 22:23

Jus tell him that he is a credulous fool and apart from his past sperm donation and his cash, you don't need anything from him.

WaggishDancer · 13/03/2021 22:27

It’s to do with foetal fibroblast cells that were first obtained from abortions of two pregnancies in the 60s. The same cells have continued to grow in the laboratory and are still used to make vaccines. Fibroblast cells are needed to hold together. Viruses need these cells and human ones work better than animal ones, since it’s humans they infect. It’s the same for MMR, chickenpox, hep a etc.

Remember, the cells are grown but they are no longer aborted foetuses even if decades ago that’s how the originated.

WaggishDancer · 13/03/2021 22:30

Read more on Wikipedia about it - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Use_of_fetal_tissue_in_vaccine_development

Anon778833 · 13/03/2021 22:49

@WaggishDancer - I’ve tried to explain this to him. But in his head it’s not true 🙄

There are cell lines from aborted foetal tissue used in some vaccine lines, I think it is the Johnson & Johnson one that the Catholic church has advised it's followers to avoid if possible. But that's a long way from there being a tiny bit of a baby in each vial!

user127819 · 14/03/2021 00:27

It's a (wilful) misunderstanding based on the fact that some vaccines and drugs are tested on cells originally derived from a single foetus aborted for medical reasons a few decades ago. They don't contain any part of a foetus.

Anon778833 · 14/03/2021 05:45

I suppose there is no reasoning with stupid.

I think I’d just say “ yes I do know” and leave it at that. End of conversation. Shut it down.
You can’t fight deranged people who are convinced by something like this, save your breath.

babba2014 · 14/03/2021 06:20

I think your understanding is not correct. Okay they say it like that but as someone explained before, its the origins and how they are still used today. For many, it doesn't make it better that they're grown on cell lines of whatever, it is still a part of that first day where they used the two 14 week old foetuses. There's also a very long interview you can find online of someone being questioned about the parts they used, about 73 I think including the tongue etc for their research. For many people who follow a faith and even vegans (not all), this goes against their belief. There's no point using terms like reasoning with stupid. If they feel this isn't ethical or correct then thah is their choice to believe in that and there's nothing wrong with that.

Roonerspismed · 14/03/2021 06:31

Why do you say these people are “stupid”?

To be fair as explained above, many vaccines are made using cells originally derived from two aborted fetus in the 60s.

When you think long enough about that, it makes you slightly uncomfortable whether or not you then choose to gratefully accept the vaccine

FTEngineerM · 14/03/2021 07:22

You’ve hit the nail on the head.

Why I’m not on Facebook. I got fed up of highlighting the actual science when people were sharing bullshit. It’s rife. I’m worried for my sons generation.

That’s not the same thing as random aborted foetuses in every single vial is it? Hmm

Tangogolf55 · 14/03/2021 09:28

The vaccines also contains microchips and alien tracking systems.....

Idiots.

Anon778833 · 14/03/2021 11:53

Yeah, don’t forget the bit about changing your DNA. It really is so tiresome to live with this situation.

OP posts:
Roonerspismed · 14/03/2021 16:08

Well it’s no more incorrect to state that vaccines contain cells from an aborted foetus than the reverse 🤷‍♀️
