You should have received an acknowledgement already, if not chase it up.
As for the decision, ours took many months longer than the usual deadline last year because of COVID, so they probably still have a big backlog.
Even if it takes a while, your claim will be backdated to the time they received it, so you won't miss out on any money.

If you are successful, don't forget to claim carer's allowance too if you think you may be eligible.

Good luck.

How longs a piece of string ,I'm afraid .

CandyCaneLane0 · 10/03/2021 15:44

I claimed for my son in November and it only took 3 weeks, I was expecting it to be a lot longer

Funny I've just sent off a renewal form the other day. I think from memory it took about 6 weeks the first time which was a bit less than I thought. The more supporting evidence you send I think the quicker they can approve your claim.

Mckm4life · 10/03/2021 16:29

Thank you.i just realised I put on here I posted it 2nd of February I meant to say 2nd of march sorry lol ..but they will backdated it to the 1st of February if its received by the 15th march

You'll probably get the supporting evidence back in the post in a week or two and then you'll have a wait or another few weeks. With my sons claim I got the money in the bank a few days before I got the letter saying we were getting it.

Mckm4life · 10/03/2021 20:28

Ok thank you

Hiya,
I was just wondering if you had heard anything? I called about my sons forms and they had recieved them on 10th March but they had not been "registered" the guy told me when i called on 17th. I haven't recieved a letter either but the person i spoke to said he was registering them.

Thank you x

PurpleFadesToGreen · 23/03/2021 19:15

This was our first application for DLA, from form request to money in the bank was about 8 weeks?? Ish??

Grosvenor33 · 23/03/2021 19:20

It's my first form too, i wasn't sure how long it would take because I never got a letter saying they had received anything. I've already downloaded the Mandatory Reconsideration forms as I'm not expecting to be awarded. My son just turned 2 and has ASD, speech and language delay and is "hyper" according to the Consultant. But I have heard his age will most likely go against him. Xxx

Grosvenor33 · 23/03/2021 19:21

Sorry when you say form request do you mean from when you first rang to request it? Xx

PurpleFadesToGreen · 23/03/2021 20:20

Yes
Its back dated to when I phoned for the forms.

I was surprised because the first I knew that we were getting it, was a bank credit with no warning last week.

Letter came yesterday with amounts etc in it.

Mckm4life · 23/03/2021 20:29

Yes im still waiting I rang last week to find out because I haven't received anythin a text or letter yet ..but when I rang lady said they received it on the 5th of march but it's not been registered ..and I'm still waiting to hear it's nearly 3 weeks from the 5th of march xx

Also you know if I do get awarded ..and alot if people get money in there bank before they get letter..is that on a Wednesday or any time ?

Grosvenor33 · 23/03/2021 20:37

I got the same from the guy i spoke to, he said he would register them and I would get a letter but my signal was so bad I didn't ask when just came off the phone.
I've only sent one piece of evidence from a Consultant as all our referrals are on waiting lists owing to the pandemic so don't really have anyone to support my claim xx

Grosvenor33 · 23/03/2021 20:39

I read DLA is paid on a Tuesday so im not sure if thats the same for back dated pay xx

Mckm4life · 23/03/2021 22:11

I have just sent one peice of evidence too her EHCP plan ..ye I rekon it is because of pandemic we waiting longer ..let's just hope we get awarded xx

I got awarded it back in October last year for dd applied in the June then got it backdated . It's paid on a Tuesday once a month. The forms are a pain but my dd got middle rate care low rate mobility I didn't know if she would get awarded it as she doesn't need support at school etc but she's high needs during night and getting her out and about etc x

minniemoocher · 23/03/2021 22:34

I sent my DD's pip claim in early January and heard back beginning of March, had interview today.

Grosvenor33 · 25/03/2021 14:04

I got a letter acknowledging my claim today, it says if you haven't heard within 8 weeks to call xx

CandyCaneLane0 · 25/03/2021 14:23

@Mckm4life

Backdated money can go in any day, I got mine on a Thursday, and then normal payments are every 4th Tuesday
Grosvenor33 · 25/03/2021 14:39

CandyCaneLane0

Hi,

Did you get your backdated then the letter or your letter first?

Thank you xx

CandyCaneLane0 · 25/03/2021 16:13

The money was in my bank a few days before I got the letter x

itsgettingwierd · 25/03/2021 16:23

DLA I've had various response times from 3 weeks to 8 weeks for initial and renewals.

I applied for ds change to PIP back in October and then got a letter a week before deadline to say as they hadn't received it I'd get an extension of 2 weeks Confused

I rang as I'd sent it and they'd received it. Had phone assessment middle of feb and 3 weeks later to say they'd had info to make a decision.

Decision took a week and it came back the other day!
