I want some nice mugs

DD2 has just (finally... ) moved into her own home this week, and once all her nice mugs had gone I realised I only have old/chipped/naff ones left.
I just want a set or two of nice, decent sized mugs.. don't really have a colour scheme in mind.. hers were a mix of pretty ones, wedding gift ones etc!
Any recommendations?!

I love my Emma Bridgewater ones. They are beautiful and hard wearing. I collect the bird ones only and am a bit obsessive (no other mugs allowed in house) but there are loads of other lovely designs. I often buy ‘seconds’ as they are cheaper and 9/10 I can’t figure out why they are seconds at all as the fault is so tiny.

They get discontinued after a time so I pick up older ones on EBay, always in great condition.

Another Emma Bridgewater fan here, but I prefer to have lots of different patterns. I also buy seconds and sales. They’re beautiful, and practical.

I saw some lovely ones in morrisons yesterday. I was tempted but don't have any room in my cupboard.

Homeschoolsoutforsummer · 10/03/2021 06:50

I love Eleanor bowmer ones- bright modern everyone comments on them!

RosaBaby2 · 10/03/2021 06:52

Emma Bridgewater, all our crockery is EB and it's fabulous. It's all mismatched but still looks great together!

MrTumbleTumble · 10/03/2021 06:55

Another one who loves the Le Creuset mugs. They look nice, come in lots of different colours, are the perfect size / thickness to feel cozy. If I could afford it I'd be throwing away all my mugs and replacing them with Le Creuset! They do a nice teapot too.

GiveMeNovocain · 10/03/2021 06:56

I got a selection from Pylones. Hard wearing and go in the dishwasher. If you click on the mug there's a selection of patterns and they're lovely vivid colours. www.pylones.com/en/mug/1384_8502_gift-stylish-mug-schluck-jardin-fleuri.html

We’ve got Le Creuset ones - I’m really fond of them. They’re nice and thick and the colours are good.

Portmeirion. They have some lovely ones

fairislecable · 10/03/2021 10:02

Seconding Dunoon they are fine porcelain ( I hate a thick rim). You can choose size, shape and design.

It’s like having a bespoke mug and the designs don’t fade in the dishwasher.

Treat yourself to a couple and then add to them (or suggest them as gifts from family).

TolpuddleFarter · 10/03/2021 10:03

I love my Le Creuset mugs, and they come in lots of great colours.

partyatthepalace · 10/03/2021 10:12

I like the medium sized Emma B ones, Whittards also had some cheaper Alice in Wonder land ones if you like that sort of thing. Kew Gardens also often sell nice ones.
