I want some nice mugs

DD2 has just (finally... ) moved into her own home this week, and once all her nice mugs had gone I realised I only have old/chipped/naff ones left.
I just want a set or two of nice, decent sized mugs.. don't really have a colour scheme in mind.. hers were a mix of pretty ones, wedding gift ones etc!
Any recommendations?!

I'm another Emma Bridgewater fan, always bought on sale/seconds. We have a range of different types, but they don't seem to chip, and withstand everything.

DH thinks I have a mug problem Grin.

I started buying them for my parents - 1 for Mother's/Father's Day etc, but I kept to 1 range. Then one day I visited, and realised all the EB mugs had been consigned to a different part of the house, and my DM admitted she doesn't really like them. They're now safe in my home lol!

The shape is the most important thing for me.

These are my ' shape' and a really nice set. I usually buy mine from TK Maxx as they always have something nice available.

I love my Denby mugs, so solid and beautiful colours and shapes.

I've had a few sets of Le Creuset ones and while they're very nice, I do find the glaze comes off in the dishwasher quite fast.

I like the Sicilia ones from Habitat, although they used to come in more colour options than they do now. I have bright red and blue spotted ones, but you can't seem to get those any more, only black spotted. Still, they're very good and have survived my hardcore dishwasher for years.

ExcusesAndAccusations · 10/03/2021 10:42

Le Creuset are great if you like thick, but for thinner walls I think that Sainsbury’s are well worth a look, they often have super-cheap sets of four in very attractive designs.

Tesco sell pretty Fox & Ivy mugs... basically it's a posh range of theirs

BarbaraofSeville · 10/03/2021 11:49

Yes, you need to decide what you like. I don't like bone china or any that are a fancy shape for example.

But I really like the Le Creuset ones and I do have one, I got mine from a Le Creuset shop on an outlet park, but they won't be open at the moment. I also have some Ikea cheapies that I like, but they don't do them any more.

I'm jealous. We have about 20 mugs and there's only two of us and we use less than half of them, so I won't allow myself to buy any more, even though I keep seeing ones that I'd like to have, such as a set of Le Creuset ones in all the colours.

Sainsbury's have some lovely ones. Sophie Allport (sale!) is worth a look too.

SmidgenofaPigeon · 10/03/2021 11:58

I have thirty Emma Bridgewater bird series Blush

Some are quite valuable if I was to sell them as they’re discontinued. I won’t though because I love them all. There’s only two of us so I just rotate them week by week so they all get used.

DH has begged no more but, it’s my money 😂

I've got a few of the Queens Couture 'paradise birds' mugs - mine have colour on the handles though

Loaf ones are really nice (but pricey) and quite substantial

Sainsbury’s also do really lovely ones - I have a few that are dimpled grey and they are my favourites for a mug of tea - good size, nice to hold etc.

Dunelm! They have a great range of mugs from £1.50 - £24.00 each.

HouseOfTheRisingMum · 10/03/2021 12:42

I like musango mugs. Roughly the same price as EB

Letsallscreamatthesistene · 10/03/2021 12:42

Oliver Bonas do nice homeware bits. They're one off and a bit quirky if thats your thing.

I also quite like Habitat stuff

LadyofMisrule · 10/03/2021 12:48

@BikeRunSki Those are fab. Now I want to get rid of my existing chipped ones and replace with those.
