I wonder if the Royal Family stepped in for this to happen

Presumably there would have come a point where GMB thought the "shock jock" ratings winner of PM has tipped over the edge? But as he resigned he can always come back.

Snowball70 · 09/03/2021 19:17

yes because the Weather is critically important 🤣

52andblue · 09/03/2021 19:18

@intheenddoesitreallymatter

He’s a sexist, bigoted tosser and I imagine he was given the option to quit or be fired.

Regardless of your personal feelings of someone you don’t go on live television and minimise their mental health issues.

ITV would have been hideously hypocritical to continue to employ him. Hopefully he won’t work in daytime television again.

Hear hear!

Why does the British press / media allow (promote?) such behavior?
I guess it gets folk to tune in / talk about things but it's really awful.
They can literally destroy people's lives with impunity & it shames us around the world as people then think we are 'all like that' & we're not!

ballsdeep · 09/03/2021 19:18

He'll have his own show soon

UhtredRagnarson · 09/03/2021 19:18

@LoudestCat14

I bet he quit because the bosses wouldn't sack Alex Beresford for showing him up this morning.
Yes this is what I think. I bet he was relying on him being a far bigger viewer draw than Alex and GMB shitting themselves but instead GMB, after receiving 41,000 complaints went “oh great- you made that easier for us. See ya!” Grin
NeverDropYourMoonCup · 09/03/2021 19:18

He comes across as the creepy bloke at work that you turned down for a shag who now goes on about what a bitch you are to everybody. It's as easy to see it when it's happening to somebody you don't like at work as it is easy to see it when it's somebody you like or feel neutral towards. He has Daddy issues, 'Be A Man' issues (see the having at go at male slebs for looking after their own children for evidence of those) and a whole load of male entitlement to female attention issues.

Of course, he'll still pick up his paypacket and then stroll into a plum job in the new thing Murdoch is funding.

You note as well that it was when a man said that he was obviously upset that he was dumped, get over it, that this all happened. As it's only the opinion of men and not women who recognise this behaviour all too well that matters.

cyclingmad · 09/03/2021 19:19

There were 41,000 complaints lodged i think that's enough to warrant the quit or sack conversation.

Would this have happened had that interview not taken place. Unlikely so some good has resulted in it.

Ami just cant even understand why people even warch him, im sorry if you watch him and listen to his crap to me its almost like you support what he says because if you don't why would you even spend time listening to it.

But each to their own I guess.

Sparklingbrook · 09/03/2021 19:19

Why does the British press / media allow (promote?) such behavior?

Ratings/advertising revenue. GMB viewing figures will fall now however anyone feels it's fact.

UhtredRagnarson · 09/03/2021 19:19

British conversation lives and dies with the sodding weather! Grin
Nousernamesleftatall · 09/03/2021 19:20

Great news. Good riddance.

Porcupineintherough · 09/03/2021 19:21

I highly doubt that. And if they did, why have they waited this long? He's been hounding and verifying Meghan for years.

WhiskyWhiskersdottir · 09/03/2021 19:22

Well, this is making the wait for season 2 of the Morning Show a bit more bearable.

Goingferalonfurlough · 09/03/2021 19:22

Archewell Foundation is an impact-driven non-profit created by The Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

‘Archewell Foundation supports the work of The Loveland Foundation, a growing organization that focuses on providing affordable and accessible mental health resources to Black women and girls. With a robust network of mental health partnerships across the country’

Taken from the website of The Archewell Foundation - so why couldn’t Meghan access help for her own mental health problems?

Good

She wasn't allowed. She was told it wouldn't look good. Did you actually watch the interview or just get your 'facts' from the Daily Mail?

Sparklingbrook · 09/03/2021 19:24

Good

Not for the remaining presenters presumably...

SleepingStandingUp · 09/03/2021 19:25

@MagicSummer

I'd rather have him any day than your darling Meeeagain.
Is she auditioning for the role??
Goingferalonfurlough · 09/03/2021 19:27

@HmmmmmmInteresting she didn’t have access to a phone? Someone had to ok every phone all she made?

HelloThereMeHearties · 09/03/2021 19:28

Who would have thought that the first casualty of this shitstorm would be Piers Morgan!

Erkrie · 09/03/2021 19:28

I wonder if the Royal family stepped in for this to happen

Why would they do that?

Vintagevixen · 09/03/2021 19:28

Brilliant news, odious man.

DietrichandDiMaggio · 09/03/2021 19:28

@Pebbles16

Oh thank goodness. I prefer a BBC Breakfast but would like to have the option
Yes, we stopped watching ITV in the morning, because we couldn't stand him.
KaptainKaveman · 09/03/2021 19:30

The irony of calling MM a "drama queen" and then flouncing out like a prize divazilla.

Vile, misogynistic bullying spoilt mansplaining arse. Good riddance.

Jbon9087 · 09/03/2021 19:30

GMB should have steeped in years ago. His fellow presenters should have stepped in years ago,. Yes the RF should have complained years ago. The public should have complained years ago too.

3 years that man terrorised Megan because she wouldn't speak to him. He was enabled until he couldn't stop that's what abusers do.

If he thinks he can't go the way of Max Clifford he had better keep shhhh.

cyclingmad · 09/03/2021 19:32

We don't give terrorists daytime TV platforms to spout their propaganda yet we are okay with allowing a man to come on and bully people (mainly women) spoit swift crap and think thats okay. And people wonder why our country is like this when we show people its okay to say this stuff.

There is a difference between telling it like it is and trading people apart.

Yet these people claim to be about mental health issues and dont se who hypocritical they are.

Same on here, how many people tear Megan apart yet say they support mental health and of women etc. Literally they don't see the irony in what they do.

If your going to be supportive about mental health issues then don't talk the talk, walk the walk. Meaning don't be dismissive of it, don't tear apart women and so forth.
