The problem is that many taxpayers would have wanted this affair to have been handled properly (i.e. suspension pending the completion of the investigation). Otherwise the (alleged) sacking just looks like a knee jerk reaction to an angry 40.000-strong horde.

That may as be, but just thank fuck his departure is with immediate effect. An 'investigation' would have taken ages and come to nothing anyway. Ofcom is as much use as a chocolate teapot.

Although I don't watch morning TV, neither ITV or BBC or even listen to the morning radio news shows, I do know what this topic is about from the Internet but what but what I don't understand is why so many write as though they are somehow obliged to watch or listen to these programmes.

I don't watch or listen because I cannot bear the endless waffling on and the nauseating display of 'personalities'. My Information is gleaned from reading short reports on the Internet if you care or are interested. Obviously, I am out of tune with the majority but why do so many people who also seem to hate the presenters watch them?

It's the new age of the internet, there is no nuance in debate you have to pick a side and stick to it, you either side with people only believing MSM and fake news via twitter/facebook to being on the other side and believing you are superior because you like a different MSM and get your news via twitter/facebook

Why Piers even got the job after his Mirror phone hacking scandales should hignlight how we are all being played, but the other is why those who are apparently glad he 'got fired' when he quit is a mirror opposite of the coin they are trying to rail against.

Can you imagine how furious Piers would be if Alex was offered his job?!

I totally agree with this. I hope people understand that no one else is putting their head above the parapet. As far as I'm concerned he got a lot of us through this last year by continuing to challenge the government about their handling of the covid crisis. Absolutely no one else was prepared to say it how it was. No one else was prepared to ask the questions that needed to be asked.
