I wonder if the Royal Family stepped in for this to happen

Alex is my hero! I could have cheered when he said something like "we all have to sit hear listening to you.....". Spot on. Alex is an incredibly intelligent, measured and articulate man and did an incredible job of staying so calm, which showed Piers up even more. He spoke really insightfully and movingly about young black people and the police/justice system a while ago too.

He'd be a great replacement if he wanted the job!

@JustSaying101

Laters Piers! I hope his wife has had a chat with him about his obsession with Meghan too. Very odd behaviour indeed.
He hasn't seemed well for a while. I mean Piers is Piers but lately it has gone beyond that.

Maybe we are all just stir crazy.

ancientgran · 09/03/2021 21:15

@HazelBite

I would think that he will be replaced possibly with a combo of Ben Shepherd, Sean Fletcher, and Adil Rae.

I geneally watch GMB when its Ben & Susannah or Kate & Ben but I've thought that Piers Morgan has been a bit manic recently, and felt that he probably needs therapy

I always used to watch BBC but early on in the first lockdown I got a bit fed up with them as they just seemed to kowtow to anything a minister said. Started watching GMB and like several of the presenters and at least Piers did challenge ministers. Lately it all got a bit OTT and I now watch Sky generally. It seems more of a balance, not ranting but not taking any bull either.

Sounds a bit like the 3 bears and for the moment Sky is just about right for me.

itsgettingwierd · 09/03/2021 21:15

@ancientgran

I'm not mad about him and wish he didn't interrupt so much but for much of the last year he has been the only one who wouldn't let government ministers lie so I regret it for that reason.
I think was his downfall.

He asked questions that needed answering. At first it was measured and critical with thought involved.

He was - rightly - praised.

But this went to his head. He begun to believe he was the only one who did it and moved on who could do it.

The worst thing for a narcissist is having their ego fuelled.

So it ultimately became his downfall.

ancientgran · 09/03/2021 21:15

I also got sick of all the Carol stuff on BBC, funny at first but it has got so old.

I liked Dr Hilary on GMB so missed him when I switched.

Givemethechocolate · 09/03/2021 21:16

@Crookairroad

He’s quit. Not been sacked.
I've seen it many times people are forced out and told to resign to save them face and so it won't be so damaging to their career when looking for another job. I'm pretty sure this is what has happened here.
Sooverthemill · 09/03/2021 21:16

This made me so happy when I heard it! He is a horrible nasty little man

ancientgran · 09/03/2021 21:17

@itsgettingwierd yes that sounds about right. I do want ministers to answer questions and they seem to get away with alot on BBC although I stopped watching them months ago so they might have got the balance a bit better.

So much for all the people round here who were convinced that his flounce out of the studio was a stunt.

I still think it was a stunt. All part of the plan because he intended to leave anyway IMO.

Bloody great snowflake. I can’t look at him without thinking of Millie Dowler. He’s a vile bullying piece of shit.

He's a lot of things, and I agree re Millie, and have no idea how he can be on tv, but he's far from a snowflake.

I can't see it. If he wanted to do a stunt, why would he choose one where Alex Beresford makes him look a totally childish pillock?

squaresonapage · 09/03/2021 21:24

I find his obsession with MM weird and stalkerish. Regardless of what you think of Meghan him ranting on about her every day was just weird.

LH1987 · 09/03/2021 21:25

Good he’s awful and bizarrely obsessed with Megan Markle. I wouldn’t say I’m a fan of Megan and Harry, I think they are self indulgent children but Piers Morgans fixation seems weird.

Quite.
RootyT00t · 09/03/2021 21:26

Far more likely Piers has gone so he doesn't have to answer to the complaints and neither do ITV

Piers has left the building. End of.

Poorlykitten · 09/03/2021 21:26

He’s a vile misogynistic cockwomble, I can’t believe he lasted this long.

I didn't know anything about the Millie Dowler connection so had a Google-this says he didn't. Is it not true?

I don't think AB did make him look 'a totally childish pillock' so I guess we see it differently. He walked off before anything much had been said. I am very sceptical of his flounce.
RootyT00t · 09/03/2021 21:29

He didn't do the hacking, but he knew about it.

Sparklingbrook · 09/03/2021 21:31

@RootyT00t

I am confused. the article said he left in 1995 and the hacking was in 2002?
RootyT00t · 09/03/2021 21:33

Piers spoke previously to that about the ability of journos to hack voicemails.

Just because he left doesn't mean he cut all ties and was clueless.

CallmeHendricks · 09/03/2021 21:33

I'm also confused by the flounce. Alex had hardly said anything at that point - not by Piers' standards anyway. And even then, he was measured and articulate in his points.

Can you imagine how furious Piers would be if Alex was offered his job?!
