And his obsession with Meghan Markle.

Good. Piers Morgan is obsessed with her. And Alex called it right.

@Sparklingbrook

He may well just have lost himself his job. Let's hope so

Highly unlikely. That little bit of panto has no doubt gained them a few viewers and people going back to rewatch.

He's not untouchable though, although he clearly thinks he is.

You're probably right though, it's not a breakfast 'news' show anymore, it's like the television version of the DM so they'll want him to stay.

SinisterBumFacedCat · 09/03/2021 09:25

I personally don’t think anyone who walks off a set like that should be allowed back on.

AaronPurr · 09/03/2021 09:26

I find it odd how little criticism PM can take, Alex was measured and calm in what he was saying, yet Piers stormed off like they'd had a huge shouting match. He's the epitome of can dish it out but can't take it.

If it's all panto as I think it is then I would think his bosses are in on it anyway.

maartjebaabes · 09/03/2021 09:30

It turns out Piers Morgan is an utter nasty bellend. I'm shocked. Who knew?

SleepingStandingUp · 09/03/2021 09:30

@longwayoff

Never heard of Alex Beresford before but what an example of how to present a calm and reasoned argument. Perfect. Please promote him at once.
Exactly everything I came to say!!
Knitwit99 · 09/03/2021 09:30

I did think Alex was a bit off in suggesting William was able to brush off his mum's death and that only Harry was damaged by having to walk behind her coffin. It's not a competition to see who handled it best or worst and it seems like there's enough division between those brothers right now anyway.

But as for PM, spot on.

Screams of a set up to get ratings up.

That's why I think it was all a set up, the response of walking off was not an OTT reaction to what was happening.

Nah, give Alex his seat

That bit made me wince a bit too. I guess he was meaning more about behaviour really, that William was able to keep a squeaky clean image throughout despite the trauma, when Harry went off the rails

(Disclaimer I know bugger all about the royals really, was about 10 when Diana died, but that’s the impression I get)

GMB are gleefully posting the argument on twitter!!!!!

It certainly seems like the most obvious answer. Piers has faced much worse from others on the program before, and I don't recall him acting like this. It just seemed so at odds with the situation. Calm Alex talking and then boom PM storms off.

Haha I didn't evene notice the mistake. I understood you meant it was an OTT reaction. Grin
PilatesPeach · 09/03/2021 09:36

@HedgeOwl of course women can - Piers is a knob and can't handle it.

He's the panto villain! Alex was Prince Charming.

I do wonder if this will give the MPs that come on for a grilling permission to 'do a Piers' and just stroll off though. Grin

I didn't take it as brush it off, not affected but more so he's been better able to handle how the trauma manifests in behaviour. Possibly personality, age at the time, being the bog brother and heir so he buried it deeper, more stability of getting with Kate so young etc
giletrouge · 09/03/2021 09:38

Alex the weatherman (never seen him before) what a hero! Deserves his own show after that!

kirinm · 09/03/2021 09:40

ITV are a disgrace. They've allowed him to harass and bully MM for years. I actually don't watch it because he disgusts me and Susannah Reid is implicit too.

PaquitaVariation · 09/03/2021 09:41

I very much doubt it was staged. He wouldn’t let himself be shown up like that, his ego is too big.

JustAnotherPoster00 · 09/03/2021 09:42

Piers Morgan has a problem with strong women of colour, have any of you seen how he goes after Ash Sakar at times

lynsey91 · 09/03/2021 09:42

I really detest Morgan and so does everyone I know. He should be sacked. Who on earth watches him?

Horrible nasty racist twat

Mrsjayy · 09/03/2021 09:47

Well said that man how cool and measured was he? I don't watch Mon-Wed because piers Morgan disgusts me so imagine being his co worker having to sit through his bullshit. I think Alex had that building for a while.

artquejtion · 09/03/2021 09:48

I think ITV cannot continue to allow him to spew his hate about Meghan specifically. It is bullying of the lowest order, it cannot be condoned by ITV any longer, For Piers it has never been about debate, its about taking her down !
