Anyone used "we buy any car"

I'm looking at selling my car, pretty quickly as I'm getting a new one through work. Probably worth about£2000 we buy any car offering £1650, I'd probably rather do this as less hassle selling it private but how easy is it and how long does it take? Does anyone know

I got rid of an old Peugeot estate, was quoted £450 and got £450.
Dropped it off at a local gazebo inspection took five minutes.

notdaddycool · 08/03/2021 11:41

Be prepared for them to offer less than the quote and know at what level you’d take it home.

muckypaws · 08/03/2021 11:54

We sold our last one like this and it was very easy - gave us a price and that was pretty much it. We dropped it off and the money was transferred, all very easy. We were happy with what they gave us as it saved so much time and hassle.

Second this. I've not heard of anyone being offered the website price as a starting point. Decide your minimum before you go.
Letsrunabath · 08/03/2021 11:59

We sold ours they quoted 7500 gave us 7000 we were happy so much easier than trying to sell it yourself and worrying about scams.

MedusasBadHairDay · 08/03/2021 12:00

We did, got a decent price too.

Doingitaloneandproud · 08/03/2021 12:01

I did, got less than it was worth and less than quoted but it was easy. I should have part exchanged for my current car in hindsight.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 08/03/2021 12:02

I tried to, but it turns out they do NOT take any car.

JustSaying101 · 08/03/2021 12:03

Yes, we've used them. Price was as expected following quote from their website.

Chillychili · 08/03/2021 12:19

Yes got more than expected, the car had faults so was really scrap/spares repairs. They didn’t care about the faults it did have and gave us £690 without faults the car was worth about 3k

Vanillaradio · 08/03/2021 12:23

Yes. Price was about £500 below quote and £1000 below what it was said to be worth but we'd been unable to sell privately and were happy enough with it.

Measureformeasure · 08/03/2021 12:43

Yes, I did. It was exactly as I expected. Mentioned every little detail when I got the quote. When I turned up to drop the car off the chap spends 25 minutes carefully examining the paintwork and interior to try to find additional marks and then when he doesn't succeed he decides the scratches I declared were much, much worse than I had stated. After 10 minutes of his telling me the whole car would need a respray and he couldn't possibly honour the online price I got up to leave. Suddenly, attitude changed and we agreed he would pay it. So much naff and this bloke was such a chancer. Wouldn't bother again.

RunnerDown · 08/03/2021 12:56

I got a good price for mine and it was hassle free. I would definitely use them again. Only thing that puts me off is the fact they use Philip Schofield in their adverts

Sorefret · 08/03/2021 13:12

Yes, I've sold my last 3 cars that way. I've always found them very fair, both in terms of the initial offer and assessment of any damage.

I know I could probably get a bit more from a private sale but this way, it's all very quick, I don't have to deal with potential buyers, I have no concerns about the buyer being legit and no risk of any comeback if the car has problems the day after the sale.

billyt · 08/03/2021 14:04

When I sold my last car in 2019 (was moving to a PCP) I got quotes from both WBAC and Evans Halshaw. I booked appointments with EH for the Sunday and WBAC for the Monday.

EH offered a better value on-line and their 'in-person' offer was much better than WBACs on-line value (which I knew there was zero chance of getting)

I sold my car to EH there and then. Got home and cancelled WBAC stating reason was that I no longer had the car.

I had calls from them on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday!! Twats.

billyt · 08/03/2021 14:05

FYI. EH gave me a value less than £50 less than their on-line valuation due to a few minor scratches on the rear bumper.

HouseyHouse21 · 08/03/2021 14:09

Yep, was very happy with the service too. I just wanted the car off my hands and they gave what I felt was a fair price for it.

LIZS · 08/03/2021 14:09

They knock money off for every minor dint, scratch, wear or despec.

Happytentoes · 08/03/2021 14:10

Sold a 12 year old car for a family member to WBAC a couple of months ago. Got the quoted price which was amazing given the bodywork.
Money was in bank exactly when they said it would be.
It was easy.
Given the age of the car I don’t think we would have done significantly better privately.
Also tried EH but that would have entailed a trip to a different town which was not really allowed.

Timbucktime · 08/03/2021 14:23

I found they offered you around 20% less then what their website tells you it’s worth.

the80sweregreat · 08/03/2021 14:26

They knocked a few hundred off a car that was in pristine condition over a tiny scratch on a door you needed a magnifying glass to see. We had it cleaned before we sold it too!
It was only nine months old. She was very through.
We could have walked , but we couldn't be bothered to go through a private sale and within a few weeks we had the money ( there is a another fee if you want the money upfront )
It was ok , I guess , but it did annoy me that they wouldn't give us the Internet price but they are a business and I guess they always knock a bit off. So beware that.
At least it's gone that day , so that's another plus!

greenemerald · 08/03/2021 14:28

They knocked off a whole lot of the website price I was initially given! Spent ages looking at the paint work etc I just needed a super quick sale as was leaving the country. I probably should have stood my ground more though. They'll probably try it I think.

Dizzywizz · 08/03/2021 14:29

I used them on an old banger, you can negotiate!! They offered me £500, I said no, wanted £800, it went to £700 and they included all fees and fast payment so it worked out about £950. Tbh it was probably only worth about £500! Lots of damage to paintwork etc. I think I got lucky. The guy had to call his supervisor to agree it but well worth trying to haggle.

SatsumasOrClementines · 08/03/2021 14:30

Why didn’t they take your car @TheYearOfSmallThings?

Mol1628 · 08/03/2021 14:32

Yes, twice. Fair offer both times and so quick and easy.
