If you're short, can you relax comfortably in the bath?

I love baths. Hot, bubbles, bath pillow, candle on the side, etc. But I'm only 5'3, and if I try and lie back to relax properly in it, I just slide down as my toes can't comfortably reach the end of the bath to brace myself. I could sit up more, but I don't like sitting with my boobs out and my bath isn't that deep. I don't remember always struggling with this, I think baths in previous houses I've lived in had those handles on the inside that I could prop my knee against? No handles or anything like that in current bath. I also have a mat on the bottom but its not anti-slip enough!

I can't be the only person who finds this a struggle?? Or am I? Is there some kind of genius hack or solution I'm missing? I want to enjoy baths again!

This is why I hate baths. I just slide right under.

No solutions- but I feel your pain. 💐

tinyradish · 06/03/2021 20:46

I have this problem but a bath pillow has helped!

tinyradish · 06/03/2021 20:48

Oops sorry just saw you have one...I do have an unusually small bath so the pillow is enough for me. Grin

Rainallnight · 06/03/2021 20:48

I have this problem too. Am even shorter than you. I was just thinking the other day that someone should invent some sort of bath step that you could put your feet against

TheGriffle · 06/03/2021 20:49

We must have a small bath as I’m 5’4 and my feet press against the end of ours so I don’t slip anywhere.

Tangledtresses · 06/03/2021 20:49

I'm 5'2 I bought a short bath 😃

raspberryk · 06/03/2021 20:49

I wish I had this problem, I’m 5ft7 and way too long for my bath! I wish my boobs would be covered but then my legs are out.

MissKittyCat · 06/03/2021 20:50

I had this problem until I had my bathroom replaced and chose a 1500mm bath instead of a standard 1700mm one.

HazeyJaneII · 06/03/2021 20:51

I'm 4'11
We got a shorter bath!

scaredsadandstuck · 06/03/2021 20:51

I know exactly what you mean! Main reason I don't have baths.

carolinesbaby · 06/03/2021 20:53

I am close to six foot. The idea of a bath where I can fully submerge is just a dream. I have showers because I always end up with either cold knees or cold boobs.

purpleme12 · 06/03/2021 20:53

I don't understand these threads
I'm 4foot 11 and have baths all the time
My feet just reach the end but I'm comfortable in the bath with my feet at the end

swashbucklecheer · 06/03/2021 20:54

Lol this reminds me of being in labour and the midwife suggested a bath. It was the world's longest bath and I couldn't touch the end with my feet. I wasn't worried until I tried to get out - a real beached whale - dh had to pull me out - not easy when contracting!

ShrimpSymphony · 06/03/2021 20:55

I’m 5ft and the struggle is real 😂

purplemunkey · 06/03/2021 20:55

We had this exact same thread a few week ago.

I’m 5’2” and have never had problems with relaxing in the bath. I love a long bath with a book.

LonstantonSpiceMuseum · 06/03/2021 20:57

I'm really tall and i have the opposite problem. I can't fit in the bath and my top half / knees / boobs are all out the water and I get cold :(

It wasn't long ago was it! I remember!

And the thread made me glad I was short so I could submerge fully!

LonstantonSpiceMuseum · 06/03/2021 20:58

Not too mention a bit fat which doesn't help, I'm start to get close to the sides 😆
Maybe that's your solution OP, put on some weight and you can wedge yourself in 😂

HazelWong · 06/03/2021 21:00

I think this is one of the good things about being short! Love being submerged and not having my knees sticking out and getting cold

Totally And not something I even thought about to be fair until the thread before this one!

Sorry, I hadn't seen that - I'll have a look.

Those of a similar height who don't find it an issue, unless you have a shorter bath do you manage to not slide down somehow? Can you get 'grippier' mats perhaps??

Wow @scaredsadandstuck that would help but gosh that seems expensive for what it is! 😂

I'm little and have a Japanese soaking tub. It is heaven in a bathroom.

NiceGerbil · 06/03/2021 21:05

When we had it done we accidentally picked a small ish bath.

It was a revelation. It fits perfectly! I'm 5'3.

Sad thing is DH can't actually fit. He prefers showers anyway. And it's better for the environment!! (Random thing I just made up but is probably true!).

purpleme12 · 06/03/2021 21:06

@eyedrops
I'm 4 foot 11 and my feet just reach the end to push against to keep me up and i'm comfortable doing i don't think my feet are on the floor of the bath though i put them at the end of the bath if you see what i mean
but this is why i don't understand the problem if i'm shorter
