If you're short, can you relax comfortably in the bath?

I love baths. Hot, bubbles, bath pillow, candle on the side, etc. But I'm only 5'3, and if I try and lie back to relax properly in it, I just slide down as my toes can't comfortably reach the end of the bath to brace myself. I could sit up more, but I don't like sitting with my boobs out and my bath isn't that deep. I don't remember always struggling with this, I think baths in previous houses I've lived in had those handles on the inside that I could prop my knee against? No handles or anything like that in current bath. I also have a mat on the bottom but its not anti-slip enough!

I can't be the only person who finds this a struggle?? Or am I? Is there some kind of genius hack or solution I'm missing? I want to enjoy baths again!

Put a laundry basket or something at the bottom of the bath and brace your feet against it.

I don't have this problem. I have a lot of baths. I just seem to float comfortably.

I’m your height but have never noticed this. I do prefer showers but if I’m particularly run down/tired enjoy a bath with a LUSH bath bomb. Having said that, I infinitely prefer showers over baths and can only stay in a bath for 10 minutes or so, so maybe it is a height thing??

DH, DD3 and DD's BF are all happily 6 feet or taller.

I'm 5 ft 5" which I don't consider to be short although they all take great pleasure in teasing me constantly.

When we remodelled the bathroom a few years ago, DH bought the biggest (widest and longest) bath in the shop, which I stupidly didn't think to try. If my feet are pressed against the tap end, I come about half way up the bath. On the rare occasions I get in it, I have to constantly fight drowning and feel like I need armbands. I hate it.

I don’t slip, but I think it partly depends on the level of slope of the sides. I’m 5ft 3 ish and our bath is standard length (1700 I think) but the taps are in the centre and it’s double ended.
In a different house with a same sized bath I did slip more.

Maybe it’s a younger person thing? I’m gen z and have never really grown up with baths

I put non slip bath strips on the bottom. They are textured and stop you slipping. I put them at the head end more.

I have the answer!! I had this problem until I got one of these and stuck it to the bottom of the bath. It has transformed everything. Baths are heavenly now!!

(Plus a taller person can use the same bath comfortably no problem)

winetime89 · 06/03/2021 21:15

I'm 5 foot and I have no problems. I must have a small bath?

Alfxn · 06/03/2021 21:16

(I put my feet against it. If that wasn't obvious!)

Tomatobear · 06/03/2021 21:28

I had no idea this was a thing! I'm 5ft8 and would love to get my boobs under the water.

You need a Japanese bath!
