Selling signed Harry Potter books and artwork

Just looking for where to begin here, if anyone can help.

I could do with raising some cash. I have 3 hardback signed Harry Potter books to sell. Also 2 framed drawings by the artist Edward Ardizzone. Has anyone any ideas of where I would begin to sell them?

I'd sell them at auction, signed Harry Potters can fetch high prices.

Which books are they, and who signed them? It makes quite a difference to the value.

Your local auction house will be able to help advise you, as they often have specialist sales.

There are book auctions .
Worth contacting the experts at Sotheby's or Christie's and if it's too
Small potatoes for them they will refer you to an alternative auction house.
They take a chunky part of your fee

Books will only be worth money if they are 1st editions of the first 3 books otherwise hardly worth anything g.

They are all the original Bloomsbury hardbacks, never been read. The first three of the series. Signed for me by JK Rowling at Sheffield Children's Book Award. (I still have the invitation.)

Local bookshop offered £100 each but I think they are worth more than that.

Wow. Goodness me OP that's a a goldmine. Don't go anywhere near Ebay, go straight to a reputable auction house. Shock

I can't find the link sorry. this website looks like a good way of knowing its they are valuable or not. If I was rich I'd buy them. I'd love signed copies!

No, don't think a goldmine, but more than £100 hopefully. They are not first printing first editions, but I brought them straight home and put them away so never read. I was saving them for the dcs but to be honest, they could do with the money now.

Are they first editions? Original hardback doesn't mean anything. First editions of the first book could be worth £20,000. If they are not first editions I'd take the £100

If you look at the website i linked, it looks like it's not sadly. It needs the sequence 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 and yours stops at 2. And needs to say Joanne Rowling not J.K. :(

I think you're right that you should get more than £100, but I'm not sure what you would get.
If you have a look at abebooks you can search by signed editions, but most of them are early editions, and I suspect the price drops relatively rapidly after about the 5th or 6th.
The Joanna Rowling was only a mistake on the first book, not Chamber or Prisoner, but a first edition would have 10 9 8 etc

Also what they're selling there isn't what a book seller will pay you-I think it's around 50% mark up. Have you a certificate of authenticity for her signature?
I think you may get a bit more if you try and sell all three as a set with the invitation. It's worth contacting a book seller and making vague enquiries anyway.

No certificate, no. I watched her sign them, and have the invitation that shows I was there and she was there. That's all. I will try Forum books for an estimate tomorrow.

Can you send me a private message in here so we can discuss about them? As you said, they are worth a few hundred, but they will not reach a thousand. The price depends of the condition of the book, date of signature, and provenance as well.
