I have an interview in 20 minutes and I think I’m going to be sick

I’m a third year student nurse and this is my first interview for a job for when I qualify. I haven’t had an interview for years, but the last time I did I went to pieces. I have done loads of research, had a good nights sleep, have a glass of water by my side and I’m trying to take deep breaths but I can’t focus.

It’s over zoom which I’m not sure if that makes it easier or harder. It’s for my absolute dream job and is exactly the kind of job I came into nursing to do.

So, wish me luck! And fingers crossed I don’t throw up

Good luck.
Someone once told me to swallow hard before each answer and it takes the edge off your voice wobbling. Hope it goes well!

You're prepped, just try to think of it as a conversation. Good luck!!

Good luck! If it’s the sort of job you went into nursing to do then just get that across. I’m sure you’ll be brilliant!

DoWhatYouWantTo · 05/03/2021 09:09

Oh blimey! Good luck and let us know how it went!!!!

Make sure the laptop is positioned so you are looking straight at it and not down/up at them

Willdoitlater · 05/03/2021 09:09

Good luck. You'll feel better once it starts.

QuentinWinters · 05/03/2021 09:09

Good luck!
Write down some notes of good examples that you can look at if your mind goes blank
Don't be afraid to ask the interviewer to repeat the question or clarify if you don't understand and also ask for time to think if you need it
Hope it goes well

wizzywig · 05/03/2021 09:09

Do a few jumping jacks, stick on a good tune, feel energised and blow their minds!!! Good luck!

LadyDanburysHat · 05/03/2021 09:09

Good luck, and if you can get it in somewhere in the interview, do say the line about this job being the reason you wanted to train.

LadyDanburysHat · 05/03/2021 09:10

Also I've hear Ibuprofen can help calm you down.

DonLewis · 05/03/2021 09:11

Yoo tip. In zoom, click the three dots on your space. Click hide self view. It means you can't see yourself and it makes zoom soo much better.

Breathe deeply. Take your time. Smile! Good luck Flowers

Kitty2019 · 05/03/2021 09:12

I interview people all the time. Best advice I can give you is to try and take a breath and speak slowly and calmly. And just be yourself. You don't need to be perfect at all but you need to show you are enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Best of luck!

CormoranStrike · 05/03/2021 09:12

You’ve got this!

DayBath · 05/03/2021 09:13

Zoom interviews must be loads better than real life cos you can have secret notes pinned to the wall behind the computer! No chance to forget stuff then!

tinselvestsparklepants · 05/03/2021 09:14

Smile, and if your mind goes blank tell them! Everyone understands interview nerves. Honesty and a smile goes a long way. You'll be brilliant.

Thirtyrock39 · 05/03/2021 09:14

Make sure you know the trust values- that's always the one that I have a mind blank with !

Tomcullenisahero · 05/03/2021 09:15

Good luck! Let us know how you get on. I'll have my fingers crossed for you

Thirtyrock39 · 05/03/2021 09:15

Good luck - you'll feel much better once the interview starts the worst bit is just before

CaffineismyBFF · 05/03/2021 09:16

Sending positive e-vibes and lots of luck! Believe in yourself and you'll smash it! :)

LemonDrizzles · 05/03/2021 09:17

Best of luck. You can always repeat the question they have asked you to give yourself time.

BananasAboutBananas · 05/03/2021 09:19

Good luck! Deep breaths, big smile 😊

DH had a video interview years ago before they were a thing. We have a great picture of him in his shirt and tie and jacket with Dennis the Menace pyjama bottoms. Imagine your interviewers wearing something inappropriate on their bottom half Smile

Go get 'em!

Lumene · 05/03/2021 09:29

I was sick before my last interview due to nerves. Got the job though.

Good luck!
