I have an interview in 20 minutes and I think I’m going to be sick

I’m a third year student nurse and this is my first interview for a job for when I qualify. I haven’t had an interview for years, but the last time I did I went to pieces. I have done loads of research, had a good nights sleep, have a glass of water by my side and I’m trying to take deep breaths but I can’t focus.

It’s over zoom which I’m not sure if that makes it easier or harder. It’s for my absolute dream job and is exactly the kind of job I came into nursing to do.

So, wish me luck! And fingers crossed I don’t throw up

Good luck! I personally think zoom interviews are better because your more comfortable in your own home and don't have the added pressure and time of making your way to the interview. Let us know how it goes

Thanks everyone, all done! I was absolutely shaking logging on but they were really nice and put me at ease.

I had to describe what qualities I have to bring to the role and I had a hugeeee list but I was just so nervous for that first question that I missed some off like using initiative which I could kick myself for but I hopefully the kind of person I am came across. But they asked me some different scenarios and I think I did really well on them and at the end they had no further questions to ask me which is either really positive or really negative I’m not sure 🙈. But they said they’ll start letting people know from Monday so I’ll update the thread. Keep everything crossed for me, I want this so bad. I’ve really really really struggled through my training with one thing after another, then the pandemic of course but I’m finally on the home straight and getting this job would mean so much to me and so much more security for my DS . Obviously now as I’m typing I’m thinking of all the things I didn’t say BUT considering how nervous I was I think I did ok, can’t go back and change anything so will just hope for the best. They asked me which area I’d prefer to work and things so hopefully that’s a good sign....

Good luck! I'm also about to qualify and applying for band 5 physio roles but I'm not even getting shortlisted at the moment (hoping this is due to not having hcpc registration, rather than just not being any good!) So you've done brilliantly to be interviewed!

Glad it went well and congratulations for getting through it!! I read a definition of an interview the other day as "a conversation with people who are really interested in what you have to say" which I thought was a nice way of putting it.

A woman in my cohort has posted on our group chat that she has just been offered the same job. I know there’s about 8 jobs going in the same place so I know there’s still a chance yet although she only had her interview today so they were quick in offering her the role. I’m thrilled for her but just still keeping everything crossed I hear something soon 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
