Could you kill someone?

I was just watching a programme where a man said something like "obviously we all the ability to kill inside us, it happens everyday". Hmm

Anyway - then I started wondering if I actually could do it. Could you?

For self defence or to protect someone I love - yes.

Mollyiere · 03/03/2021 22:24

Meant to say I think I could in defence of my children and loved ones. But hopefully I'll never be put to the test.

Yes if I was defending myself or my family.

mnahmnah · 03/03/2021 22:25

In defence of my children, absolutely

PrincessandthePeach · 03/03/2021 22:25

No, definitely not premeditated anyway. Maybe in self defence but I wouldn't be able to cope afterwards.

DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult · 03/03/2021 22:25

I could definitely kill someone.

Borntohula · 03/03/2021 22:25

For the same reasons as pp, possibly, but I'd never be the same again.

theincomparable · 03/03/2021 22:26

Do you mean physically or mentally?

Physically anyone can kill I guess.

DianaT1969 · 03/03/2021 22:26

It would be easier if I had PMT. Definitely could in self-defence or to protect a loved one.

Eastie77 · 03/03/2021 22:26

To save my children from death or serious harm, yep I could do it in a heartbeat. Those are probably the only circumstances though.

Mollyiere · 03/03/2021 22:26

Although I do struggle with seeing spiders killed, or animals run over. So whether I could actually take a human life I don't know.

RhubarbTea · 03/03/2021 22:26

Yes, but I would never stop re-living it and would feel marked for life and somehow soiled forever.

2021mumma · 03/03/2021 22:26

Yes if someone hurt/killed my family I would want revenge

Oversize · 03/03/2021 22:27

If it was the only way to protect my family then yes though I would find it extremely hard to deal with it afterwards.

Whyareblokesonhere · 03/03/2021 22:28

not without breaking my new years resolution, I've been doing so well to keep it this year as well

AnExcellentWalker · 03/03/2021 22:28

As previous posters, in defence of a loved one, yes.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 03/03/2021 22:29

To protect DDs.. definitely.

AnExcellentWalker · 03/03/2021 22:30

@Whyareblokesonhere Grin

Goingferalonfurlough · 03/03/2021 22:30

Yes

AnnaSW1 · 03/03/2021 22:30

Absolutely 100%

BackforGood · 03/03/2021 22:31

I think in a "me or them" situation
I think in a protecting someone vulnerable situation
I think possibly - there are a LOT of previous conversations about this - in a loved one, in pain, with a terminal diagnosis situation.

All are possible.
I don't know as I've never been put in the situation, but they are all scenarios where I couldn't, hand on heart, say I wouldn't be able to.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 03/03/2021 22:32

Probably not I think that something honourable inside me would stop me at that crunch moment

CityDweller · 03/03/2021 22:33

I was traumatised when I accidentally ran over and killed a pigeon. I think I would struggle with killing a human. But I suppose if it was me or them or my kids were in peril I’d do it.

Howshouldibehave · 03/03/2021 22:33

DH and I were talking about this recently. It started off talking about how people in the past killed animals for food-and I felt it would be one thing to shoot a deer from a distance with a gun, but I’d struggle to kill a chicken with my bare hands by wringing its neck. Killing a human would be the same, I think.

I’m sure I could/would kill in self defence or to protect my children though. It would probably have a huge impact on your emotional well-being afterwards!

picklemewalnuts · 03/03/2021 22:33

I don't think I could.

I've also warned the family not to rely on me battling bravely against the odds in a disaster movie scenario. I'm more likely to wave them on while I sit and wait, hoping for a swift end. They announced they'd stay too, and we share the last of the chocolate while we wait.
