Just curious really. For 2 adults and small child, ours is on average £60 per week - some weeks £70, some £50. We batch cook a lot as it’s hard to make fresh meals every night with small person.

Would be interested to hear anyone else’s?

Ranges from £80 - £150. 2 adults and 2 kids, but need free from due to allergies and only buy organic meat (not much, we are flexitarians), and soya milk.

DK123 · 02/03/2021 21:46

£65-£80 a week
2 adults
Includes all meals for the week and all cleaning stuff and some toiletries. We don't buy alcohol so that's not included.
The price varies if stocking up on things on offer like laundry liquids/dishwasher tablets.
we shop in Tesco.
We normally get one takeaway a week, costing £15-£25 depending what it is.

Solasum · 02/03/2021 21:49

Just realised it is £300pcm. Oops

£80 for 2 adults and a baby, he's on formula so that makes up £16 a week before anything else

Dangermouse80 · 02/03/2021 21:49

2 adults, 3 kids, 1 expensive cat averaging £150 a week. That includes all cleaning stuff and alcohol. Could shave off £50 with cheaper household items and less booze but these things make day to day life happier!!

TheChip · 02/03/2021 21:50

Between 80-140pw - 1 adult, 3 kids. Sometimes takeaway during the week which is 20-30.
Just started getting organic fresh fruit and veg from a supplier so probably boost the weekly shopping by 20-40pw.

Thats not including cat and dog food which I buy elsewhere and in bulk so more a monthly cost.

AuntieMarys · 02/03/2021 21:51

2 adults...about £600 a month. Includes wine, gin, beer, cleaning stuff and toiletries. In normal times another £200 - 300 on eating out.

QueenPaw · 02/03/2021 21:51

Just me. £25-35 per week depending what I need. Used to be £50 but I swapped from sainsburys to Lidl

Amammai · 02/03/2021 21:52

Around £75 per week for 2 adults and a toddler. That includes cleaning products etc. Toddler eats most meals at childcare 4 days per week, just a small tea at home. We then have one take away too for approx £25.
I think I could definitely shop cheaper but also enjoy treats and nice meals to look forward to so happy with that amount at the moment.

Poached · 02/03/2021 21:53

1.5 adults and 2 primary aged children.

Used to be £100pw but it’s been reliably £150 every week for the last year.

I shop at Waitrose (although I can’t afford it)

BarbaraofSeville · 02/03/2021 21:53

@TheByngster

I’m always staggered at these threads, I don’t know how you guys do it. 2 adults (husband a protein whore with a penchant for fresh berries) £230ish weekly
You've answered your own question there.

The people who are spending less aren't feeding a DH on some of the most expensive food available.

Many people don't have £230 per week available for grocery shopping do they have to spend less and buy cheaper food or else the won't have enough food to feed everyone or they will have to do without other essentials.

The national average for a family of 4 is around £100 pw, so it's obviously possible to spend far less than you do.

Oly4 · 02/03/2021 21:54

2 adults, 3 young kids, about £230-£240 a week including two bottles of wine, a tonne of fruit and some organic veg

Yellow85 · 02/03/2021 21:55

2 adults, 2 kids:

£70 supermarket shop
Milk delivered
£35 Gousto box

WannabeOT · 02/03/2021 21:55

Two adults and one toddler about £70 a week, with all bread and occasional top ups at local farm shop which is expensive but worth it

pineapplejuice22 · 02/03/2021 21:55

We budget for £300 pcm but often go over to £350. Then takeaways which are roughly £30 a week. 2 adults, 1 toddler and a newborn. Shop at aldi ( click and collect!) and asda.

BrownEyedGirl80 · 02/03/2021 21:56

Around 100 including top ups for 2 adults and 1 dc6

Woodlandbelle · 02/03/2021 21:57

About £80
Two adults and two small dc (early primary)
I batch cook so that helps a lot. We use own brand cereal but do eat good food like steak and salmon. Some nights soup or pasta so cost balances out. That covers lunches etc. Probably another 10 on bread and milk. Never get takeaway.

needadvice54321 · 02/03/2021 21:57

2 adults and 2 teenage boys

Probably around £120-130 a week, depends where I shop - can be a bit cheaper at Aldi etc

Small dog - £50 a month

PickAChew · 02/03/2021 21:58

2 adults, 2 teens, about 250pw. It's gone up a lot in the past year.

Chunkymenrock · 02/03/2021 21:59

Average of £110 ish Asda weekly delivery for 2 adults and a 17yo boy. That's everything including household and toiletries. I don't do extra top ups.

noideabutstilltrying · 02/03/2021 22:00

1 adult, 2teens, 2 labradors and 3 cats. I spend £100 a week including cleaning stuff, pet food and take away.

notdaddycool · 02/03/2021 22:02

2 adults 2 kids gone from 85 to 100 with schools closed. I thought that was a lot, how do people spend £200+?!

Megan2018 · 02/03/2021 22:03

We used to spend about £200, now we are on a budget of £125
But that’s not just food, includes basic toiletries, cleaning products, laundry detergent, cat food/litter etc. and it’s all meals, snacks, drinks as we are WFH.
Me, DH and DD (toddler, fed mostly at nursery).

Icancelledthecheque · 02/03/2021 22:03

£250-£300 per week for 2 adults, 4 teens and 2 dogs. Half that before Covid...

Autumn101 · 02/03/2021 22:05

Me and two DC (nearly 11 and 13) and around £175 a week. Mostly Tesco with some Waitrose and M&S bits
