Dressing tables - What do you keep on yours?

I have the IKEA hemnes dressing table (see pic). At the moment mine has:
4 perfumes
Earring stand
GHD’s
Necklaces hanging from **both sides of mirror
Box in the middle of the 2 drawers (for hair brush, sprays, general tat etc.)

I need to declutter without leaving the dresser stark. I’m thinking of removing the perfumes and necklaces and have a small plant to add some more greenery (I already have small plants either side of the bed on the bedside table.

A mirror and a clock. I would be forever dusting if I kept a load of stuff on it. And I hate clutter anyway.

The funny thing is, I hate clutter too! I’m not sure how I have managed to accumulate all this stuff without realising

Those “dressing” tables sound anything but. You do know you are actually supposed to have jewellery, perfume bottles and pretty trinkets on the surface? Objects that are curated cannot amount to “clutter”.

Never had a dressing table!

Magnifying mirror, tin with makeup brushes, safety mat for straighteners, container with deodorant, hand cream, face creams etc, shallow bowl with tweezers, headache tablets, lip salve etc. I'm a slut obviously!

A small plastic storage unit with nearly all make up in it.
A smaller plastic storage unit for hairbrushes and hair curlers.
Perfume, body lotion, deodorant, Vaseline.
Alarm clock.
Underneath are my hair straightener and hairdryer and there’s a plug right by it.

Nothing at all!

I don’t really like using a dressing table but have one as there was an obvious space in the room for one iyswim. It gets used more as an ad hoc desk. I’m going to put a lamp on it and maybe a vanity mirror if I see a lovely one.

I also have a life changed full length mirror that opens up and has loads of places for jewellery and bits and pieces.

Perfumes, framed photos of the dog, a basket of skincare products, a scented candle and an antique porcelain bowl (usually full of hairbands).

I have the Skylar dressing table and stool set from M&S. It has two good sized drawers so I use one to store my makeup and the other for my hair straighteners, brushes and other hair products.

I like to keep the surface mostly clear so it just has a magnifying mirror, small orchid, photo of my children and a tray with my bottles of perfume (currently only 3!)

Thanks everyone. I have had a tidy up:
I managed to connect my straighteners via the main drawer. So they are only visible when the drawer is open.

There are only 3 necklaces left hanging from the side of the mirror (left hand side). There is an earring stand on the small drawer on the right. There are 2 trinket boxes on the small left hand drawer. Three perfume bottles sit between the 2 drawers (I plan to buy a nice small tray for these as I really liked the image @Janegrey333 shared).

Overall it looks a lot better now I have decluttered.

@RampantIvy I have heard this too. My dressing table is away from the window and sun.

I've never had a dressing table but am about to move house and the first thing on my list of new furniture is a dressing table. I want it adorned in all kinds of trinkets and photos and general loveliness. Mine will be cluttered to buggery!

I will add some more pretty bits and pieces soon. I also have an en-suite so I keep a lot of things in there - creams, lotions etc. My make up has always been kept in the drawer, it’s very big and stores a lot 😊

I've got about 20 bottles of perfume (much to DH's disgust), a large mirror on a stand, my make up bag, and the Sky Mini Box as it's right under the TV. And two drawers full of utter shite that needs a good sort out. DD pointed out the other day that I was still using an eyeshadow palette that I'd bought for her wedding that was 7 years ago

'Supposed' to have! You can have anything you like on your dressing table, OP you don't have to follow any daft rules. @Janegrey333 is always on these threads, telling folk what rules and regulations they should be following to be acceptable

I don’t have a dressing table. Jewellery goes in jewellery boxes in a jewellery drawer. Makeup is in the bathroom. Scent is in my underwear drawers with my deodorant, so I can have it to hand at appropriate point of dressing.

I only have one scent. Only have one small bag of makeup. Only have about ten necklaces and the same number of brooches. I don’t collect things I won’t use.

Like LemonRoses I only have a small bag of makeup (can't remember the last time I wore some) and about 3 necklaces. I have loads of earrings though. They would just get so tarnished and dusty if I left them out, so they all go into my jewellery box. I only have two perfumes at the moment. Again, I can't remember the last time I wore some.

These all go into the drawer of my dressing table.

Hairbrush, mirror, jewellery box, 2 bottles of perfume, mug coaster. Everything else goes in the dressing table drawers.
