Does anyone want to join me for a March boot camp?

I've got lockdown fat(ter) and I've been studiously avoiding my scales for weeks, ignoring the fact that my clothes don't fit.

So for March I'm planning a no alcohol/10,000 steps a day/no junk food boot camp. Anyone care to join me for accountability?

Yes please!

Solongtoshort · 27/02/2021 22:46

I will, l have just been furloughed till March 31st so l have a free month and was planing on getting active l had a 7k walk today and done a GM shred workout. Tomorrow l am going to do the same walk after l have done YouTube video by body project.

I am also going to use every face cream l have ever bought and not used. Hopefully l will be at least a stone lighter and look a bit younger or at least well rested.

Id already planned on doing this and started about a week ago, not hit the no junk food fully yet had a frozen pizza the other day but better than ordering a dominos x

Welcome everyone who's joining me. Looking forward to seeing some results at the end of March. The daily steps is probably going to be the most difficult part for me - I have a very sedentary job and getting the kids out for walks is nigh impossible!

I'll join you - I am going to either do the steps or do equivalent on exercise bike as like you my wfh desk job makes it tricky to get out every day. The other two other elements will start tomorrow as we have a birthday in the house today so there will be wine - and cake! Like the idea of adding in a bit of self care/using up beauty products too.

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 01/03/2021 09:13

Morning everyone. I tried to go for a run this morning but only managed about 5 minutes Blush

Self-care sounds good too - I want to start actually looking after my skin but I don't know where to start!

I’m in. Recently diagnosed diabetic, was doing well but it’s gone to hell in the last week or so.

I use a wheelchair so will aim for 30 mins exercise a day.

Solongtoshort · 01/03/2021 11:14

Just returned from a 5k walk, my bum is sore. Completed a 20 min shred before hand.

About 2pm l am going to have a relax on my bed with a face mask x

kwiksavenofrillsusername · 01/03/2021 11:20

Yes please. I could do with some support. Having a shit time mentally and I feel that getting active and dropping a bit of lockdown weight would do me the world of good. I don’t drink much lately, but I will be trying to cut evening snacks and eat more sensibly.

Thanks for the walking workout link. I used to do walking workouts on YouTube but they were very cheesy! If I can’t get outside due to weather I’ll try to do that one.

Day 1 steps completed. And no processed sugar or junk food.

Yes please!

Mine is

  • a daily walk
  • no sugary crap
  • oral hygiene, reasonable sleep

Lovely blue sky today. Had big salad for lunch. Dinner is noodles, veg and fish.

colouringindoors · 01/03/2021 18:09

Yes! I started a low carb diet today. Have 2.5 stone to loose, but probably not all at once!

PleaseStopExplaining · 01/03/2021 21:13

I did 30 mins on my adaptive exercise bike, ate more veg than I usually would, did a hair mask and took a break from screens and doom scrolling to read a book for an hour or so. Not a bad start to taking better care of myself.

Fortunefavours1 · 01/03/2021 21:16

Can I get in on the action please? I'm hoping to lose half to a stone this week. I have pcos so losing weight can be a massive struggle, as I'm sure it's for lots of us.

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 01/03/2021 21:43

Glad everyone has had a good first day. Bring it on!!

Trying2021 · 01/03/2021 21:50

To get your steps up I can totally recommend just putting on some of your favourite tracks and just dancing in the house. 5 minutes at a time. The kids might even want to join in! Smile

Mally2020 · 01/03/2021 22:33

over the past 2 days I have walked 25 miles, legs are like jelly now but done good I think x

Littlepigsmig · 01/03/2021 22:39

I'll join! I've been better today than previous weeks. No chocolate, ate actual meals instead of snacking and I've done my 10,000 steps.
I purchased a step (like the ones you get in a step aerobics class) and do five to ten mins on this every hour to get my steps up as I've got a desk job and a five year old that takes some persuading to go for a walk!!

colouringindoors · 01/03/2021 22:45

Well 1 day nearly no carbs, and actually harder for me (but another good reason to do it) no wine.
Can't do much walking due to major slipped disc.
Obviously expecting to have lost at least half a stone already!

wintertime6 · 02/03/2021 08:33

I'm in! This is day 14 for me as I'm trying to give up for lent, this is the longest dry spell I've had in over a year and I feel so much better for it already.

Was up early this morning and did run 2 of week 5 of couch to 5k. The exercise is definitely helping me stay off the alcohol, it makes me feel so much better and I don't want to drink wine and feel all groggy the next day. I'm also making more of an effort with my skin and it's been terrible lately. I think I see a bit of an improvement already.

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 02/03/2021 10:53

@wintertime6 I'm hoping to get up early for W5R1 tomorrow having lost most of my C25K fitness I'm going back a few weeks. Going to take the dog out for a walk at some point today though am busy - might resort to jogging on the spot at home.

wintertime6 · 02/03/2021 13:05

@MyGhastIsFlabbered I'm sure it won't take you long to build it up again. I much prefer running first thing in the morning, it sets me up for the day, but I'll not get a chance to get out for a morning run until the weekend, so will have to decide if I leave the dreaded week 5 run 3 until then, or if I attempt it after work on Thursday or Friday.

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 02/03/2021 21:35

Just about scraped my 10k today - very pressed for time all evening. Then DP and I had a massive fight. Normally I'd console myself with wine and ice cream but not tonight.

OP posts:
Morningmaeve · 02/03/2021 21:44

Self care: have put hand cream by my bed and putting loads on for overnight.
Diet: no junk food.
Exercise: 10,000 steps and 8k bike ride over two days.
Alcohol: fail so far
