Do I buy a robot vacuum cleaner?

Need a new one and deciding between a shark and a robot vacuum cleaner. Budget £200-250. 2 small children and no pets. Wooden floor and carpets.
If you have a robot one, would you recommend it?

I love my Eufy. We named him. He trundles about after breakfast and dinner and gets all the crumbs and keeps the dog hair to a minimum.

There's a whole thread of Eufy love somewhere on here

pineapplejuice22 · 26/02/2021 12:43

@HeyMicky which one have you got? Have you got a separate machine for the stairs?

No. It takes so long to move all the things it gets stuck on or under -rugs, curtains, stools, chairs- I could have done the hoovering myself. Also it's shit round the edges. I've switched to running a noodle mop round whilst talking on the phone to save time. I'd get a cordless shark instead if you're budget allows.

Also can't stand the noise.

kylie122 · 26/02/2021 12:54

The eufy one is soooo good !!!

sylbunny · 26/02/2021 12:54

We have one but it's great as an extra not as the only hoover. We use it to do the bedroom a lot but we still need to do day to day hoovering

Harriedharriet · 26/02/2021 13:00

On the back of a thread here I got a Eufy. I love it. It frees me up a lot and maintains the rooms very well. Excellent time saver. I turn it on, leave the house and come back to have it done.
LOVE IT!

SweepTheHalls · 26/02/2021 13:02

We have a hand held for the stairs, and then a Eufy downstairs, and another upstairs! Game changer. Love the little things

HeyMicky · 26/02/2021 13:23

@pineapplejuice22 Wooden stairs. And we have a regular hoover for the weekly clean and upstairs.

Our Eufy has an edges setting and we don't have anywhere it can get stuck so it works well for us

JemimaTiggywinkle · 26/02/2021 13:24

Our robot hoover is useless for corners/ going underneath chairs and tables etc and it’s quite selective about what it picks up.

I think they’re useful for keeping on top of pet hairs, crumbs etc in between “proper” hoovering.. but it’s not a replacement for regular hoovering.

AtLeastThreeDrinks · 26/02/2021 15:21

Our Eufy is great for an everyday clean, it's mad how much they pick up after 24 hours. I just gather up any wires loose on the floor before he does his rounds. Our furniture is all the right height except for one chair –it is annoying when he gets stuck and beeps at you, but we usually remember to block it with a book or something. It would be annoying if he kept getting stuck under stuff. Worth measuring!

I do also want a handheld vacuum for the stairs but in general he's a godsend, the place just looks so much nicer day to day and I've found him quite good on our edges (better than we used to be with a cumbersome Dyson!).

Reallybadidea · 26/02/2021 15:27

I bought a eufy this week after a recommendation on here. It's really every bit as good as I thought it would be. I've set it to go off every morning and I'm astonished by how much it's swept up. The one I've got has a mopping function too, which I'm going to try out later.

I got £40 off with a referral code, which I'm happy to share if you pm me.

WatchWatch · 26/02/2021 15:43

Love my eufy. But it does not replace a normal hoover, and it won't do stairs.

Thinkle · 26/02/2021 15:52

We love our eufy too but agree it’s not a straight replacement. I got the g30 which does stripes and maps where it has been.
Still need another hoover for corners and stairs etc.

pineapplejuice22 · 26/02/2021 15:55

@JemimaTiggywinkle which one do you have?

Thanks @Reallybadidea! Appreciate it. Will DM you once I've worked out how to do it 😆 can I do it on the app?

I have an eufy. I set it to come on over night. We have a big open plan space at the back. It's so nice coming down and the hoovering is done. I do the stairs with my effing useless dyson. And whip round the bedroom carpets whilst the eufy is doing the tiled bathroom floors.
Wouldn't be good if you have lots of different level floors but most of ours is hardwood downstairs. Eufy is a dream

pineapplejuice22 · 26/02/2021 15:59

Thanks @HeyMicky. You're an appliance queen! Which eufy do you have?

Also eufy is very easy to empty and clean ( hair etc out of ) is really is amazing/ disgusting how much it picks up

Saying that I have a friend who recently got a shark and she raves about that. But mine I got for the time saving and efficient nature of the product

Aquamarine1029 · 26/02/2021 16:03

I absolutely love my eufy and will never be without one again. I've had it for 2 years and it's still going strong.

ANewDawnANewDay · 26/02/2021 16:04

Have a Eufy here too. It's a boy toy in my house - my dh and ds run it.

They are forever tinkering, cleaning, running, maintaining etc.

Love it!! Vacuuming is no longer my business.

AlternativePerspective · 26/02/2021 16:11

I started a thread on here the other day about the same thing.

Off the back of it I bought a Eufy and I have to say I’m not incredibly impressed with it. I was going to send it back but I’ve kept it so it can run around once a day and at least keep the dog hair down a bit. But it’s no replacement for a proper vacuum and you will still need to hoover at least once a week.

MrsFezziwig · 26/02/2021 16:14

Can it cope with rugs? (I have hard floors throughout)

Yes, very well. I have the same, hardwood floors throughout and various rugs in every room.

I love my eufy, and this is true, but for me, the everyday benefit has been amazing. I have 5 cats and used to drag my hoover out every day to manage the cat hair, but now I only have to properly hoover my rugs once a week.
