Shnuggle bath cut foot

Has anyone else had this problem? DS is 11 weeks and somehow the baby bath has rubbed the skin on his foot and it's bleeding a lot. How can a bath do this?

We bought it from a John Lewis shop while I was pregnant and don't have the receipt, do you think there's any chance we can get a refund? I don't want to use it anymore

We had the exact same in the exact same spot!! He kept kicking his legs and it would open back up. At first I thought it was my nails that had cut him.

We moved out of it fairly quickly though because he got too big for it way before 6 months.

addler · 25/02/2021 19:55

I've seen people rave about them and use them for months and months, so I thought it would be a good idea, I regret it now. Poor wee things!

Did you just go to the big bath after?

I've just googled it. Is it from the plug cover? Bad design if so

I had this with my little girl years ago when she was a few months old. I complained to shnuggle and their response was so cold and uncaring. Disgusting attitude from a company selling baby items in my opinion. They told me it was not their fault and I got nowhere with a refund. The bath went in the bin.

addler · 25/02/2021 20:02

I don't think so, it's the outside edge of his foot so I'm assuming it's friction from the side of the bath

The old model didn’t have a plug hole so you wouldn’t get this issue. I couldn’t work out how you could get cut as ours was all totally smooth! I would definitely complain.

Shinysilverlamp · 25/02/2021 20:04

These were the pictures I sent to the company with my complaint.

addler · 25/02/2021 20:08

That's horrible, you wouldn't think feet would bleed that much.

Stupid design and stupid company then. At least if people search for the bath this thread will pop up and hopefully they won't buy it

I was so annoyed because it was really a good bath and she loved sitting more up and splashing. The abrasive anti slip bath surface then caused a whole chunk of skin on her foot to rip off and it just bled and bled. My baby was 3 months old so not as though she was outgrowing it!

dementedpixie · 25/02/2021 20:42

I used a plastic bath support in the big bath

ReassureMee · 25/02/2021 20:45

@addler yes just moved to the big bath!

Such a shame when these baths are meant to be amazing but it’s definitely a friction thing. Wonder why it’s always the same foot?!

Sleepyquest · 25/02/2021 20:47

Oh my god we had this when DD was about 10 weeks but I had no idea what it was. We used shnuggle so now thinking it could have been that! Not good Shock
But it healed quickly and didn't happen again if that helps

faithfulbird20 · 26/02/2021 01:12

Flippen heck poor babies. This should be in the papers so that people know for safety!

addler · 26/02/2021 14:21

@Sleepyquest interesting that it never happened to you again! I'm not sure whether to try it again tonight or not. I don't want to make him bleed again

ReassureMee · 26/02/2021 15:40

@addler could you line the bath with a towel and see if that helps? X

Norwaydidnthappen · 26/02/2021 16:21

Oh wow. I’m still using the old model I’ve had since my 2 year old was born and it’s great. I didn’t realise they’d added a plug. Such a shame because it’s a fab bath.

Annieandanna · 27/06/2021 22:10

I am having the same issue. My little girl is 3 month old and I have noticed her toes randomly bleeding. She didn't get a bath for couple days and low and behold has a bath and they are bleeding. It's like friction on the plastic.terrible !!!!

NewbieMum1 · 31/08/2021 21:54

Hope your little one is OK now.
My 3 month old has the exact same mark same place, on his foot! Last week I started bathing him daily as part of night time routine and this appeared. I honestly did not know where it came from and have been searching Internet for answers.
It has cut open twice now, the bath towel has been covered in blood and I've had no idea it was a friction burn from the bath.
I shall be emailing the company also.

Katemit · 25/11/2021 21:06

I’ve just googled this as the same thing has happened to my two boys (twins) both have cuts on the side of the foot just under their baby toes! It’s the bath as it happened to the other twin after getting out of the bath last week. I’ll be complaining too!

Sophiechest · 27/12/2021 21:39

Yes!! I’ve just had the exact same. Awful wouldn’t stop bleeding x

Lemonlady22 · 27/12/2021 22:20

Never bought a baby bath ever...used a washing up bowl , never had any probs and my youngest is 23. Too much made nowadays about buying the best for your baby..its a money making racket

Katemit · 28/12/2021 18:27

I complained and they were just rude and denied it was their product. They said “upon review on the pictures we believe the cuts have been caused by something else like a high chair…”. Funny enough my 4 month olds can’t use a high chair and the bleeding only happened after taking them out of the bath. Pls do complain as they need to change the product.

Katemit · 28/12/2021 18:30

They still have marks from
them!

grey12 · 28/12/2021 18:36

@dementedpixie

I used a plastic bath support in the big bath
I put the plastic support outside the bath Grin I felt that the easiest thing was to hold the baby with one hand and have everything ready and accessible to the other hand. And at the end of the bath I would put the baby sitting in the support and do a rinse Smile family had skin sensitivity problems so wanted to make sure the babies were always rinsed properly
Robyn594 · 05/12/2022 23:37

I wish I had seen this sooner! My little boy had the exact same cut tonight and I couldn’t work out where he had got it from- such a shame as we’ve only used this bath 5 times 😩😩😩
