What crafty thing are you making right now?

My boys went to school today (huzzah!) so have spent the day finishing this new paper cut design and a few others.

I’ve been doing lots of crochet design while they’ve been off but it’s nice to crack out the scalpel blades again!

How easy is it to get started in silversmithing? Did you do a course? Do you need to buy lots of kit to have a go?

So far I'm self taught from YouTube as my course fell foul of Covid! I'm hoping to start proper classes next month.

It's easy enough to get started - there is plenty of resources available on line and plenty of experienced silversmiths willing to share their knowledge.

It's not cheap though. DP bought me a starter set for my birthday and I've been adding more and more things to it. I'm rather afraid to add up what it's cost him so far.

I was hoping to be able to use some of his tools but other than a few hammers that didn't work out. In fact I burned out his Dremel the first time I tried to use it! The only thing I'm really borrowing is one of his heavy duty brazing torches which gets a lot hotter than my little one but is a bit scary.

I’ve so enjoyed seeing everyone’s work - I hope more people share too, it makes me so happy to see what brilliant creative things everyone is doing!

I’ve spent today procrastinating as I should be making the guide that goes with my new kit look all fancy but I hate designing documents so instead I’ve started cutting Manhattan. It’s going to take an eternity with all these tiny lines but it’s weirdly relaxing!
