What would you treat yourself to regularly?

I'm not talking about the super rich, winning the lottery etc. Just being in a situation where you were very comfortable and didn't have to worry about money.

I'd :

  • have Sunday dinner out every week
  • purchase nice skincare that you'd get in spas. I used to work in a spa and had loads of freebies and miss it loads.
  • pedicures
  • Naice candles
  • a cleaner to do the jobs I hate doing ..skirting boards, wiping down doors.

One can dream Grin

A decent holiday to one of the places I really want to visit but will most likely never afford to go

LadyCatStark · 24/02/2021 16:15

I’d have another child. We’re comfortable as we are but not enough to stretch another round of nursery fees without drastically reducing our (and DS’s) lifestyle. DH would never agree to it anyway!

Oh no wait, I’d get a horse. That’s definitely what I’d do.

Mooloolabababy · 24/02/2021 16:21

A new(er) car
A holiday abroad every year (post-COVID)
Eating out in a restaurant (family friendly, not Maccas though!)
Weekends away with family and/or friends

When I got my last payrise I started getting salon gel manicures as my nails are really brittle and I can never do it properly at home even with my UV lamp. Just got them nice and long when first lockdown started so now back to being terrible. Will restart when offices back open.

If I get another payrise, I might consider one or two of the following: cleaner, doing StitchFix more often, monthly massages, gardener, meal box subscription, gin/wine subscription.

Private health consultation on our inherited medical conditions.

Riddikulussness · 24/02/2021 18:46

Booking hotels just to save having to drive home after long, family days out with the kids, and regular weekends away with just dh would be amazing.

Ragwort · 24/02/2021 18:56

I would shop at Waitrose/M & S Food Hall regularly- to the PP who compared them to Aldi - we do have a local Aldi but the difference in shopping experience is just so much better in Waitrose & M & S - and I think the food is so much better too.

I would also treat myself to a really nice London hotel for a weekend break.

MsAwesomeDragon · 24/02/2021 18:59

I'd get a cleaner.
New bathroom (will be getting this this year, but had to save up for ages)
Decorate, by a proper decorator, not me doing a crap DIY job.

peaceanddove · 24/02/2021 20:05

Back when DH was setting up his business and our kids were tiny, money was very tight. We ate a lot of beans on toast and watched every penny. As his busy became successful I started treating myself:

Freya bras
Monthly profesdional pedicure & waxing
Silk pillowcase
REN skin care
Chanel foundation
Aveda foil highlights every 3 months
White Company candles
Marks & Spencer/Waitrose food
Never staying in less than a 4* hotel
Eating out twice a week
Cleaner
Clothes & shoes ad infinitum Grin

Probably a physiotherapist/trainer/whatever I need to sort my bad back and help me get really fit again. A holiday abroad with the DC would be nice.

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 24/02/2021 23:45

A special needs nanny. Or two. I don’t need more stuff - just a bit of time to relax with DP and do the things I enjoy doing, like seeing friends, eating out, going to the cinema...

Bloodybridget · 25/02/2021 00:39

A new or nearly new hybrid car.
Lots of holidays where we could have whatever accommodation we wanted.
Get some house issues sorted out, and stay elsewhere while the work happened.
Use taxis occasionally.

BritInAus · 25/02/2021 01:06

I'd work 3 days a week.

Pay for an in-ground swimming pool.

Pay for a regular babysitter once a week/fortnight to go out for dinner with friends or just have some me time (single parent with no family support in the country) and perhaps so I could just go for a swim or a walk alone once a week.

SD1978 · 25/02/2021 01:15

Cleaner and gardener. Probably meal subscription, because I'm lazy with meals and would like to be more adventurous, but without the hassle of trying to find all the ingredients myself. Also regular grooming- waxing and hair, with facials thrown in monthly.

grassisjeweled · 25/02/2021 01:32

Cleaner/ housekeeper
Private school
More sushi
Better wine
More rib eye

SeasonsInTheAbyss · 25/02/2021 02:27

We have a decent income compared to our backgrounds but we do have to do opposite shifts for childcare reasons. Not for long as they are teens. I also struggle with my mental health due to difficult childhood/estrangement etc. Now we have extra money we:

Pay extra into pensions first and foremost
Cleaner
Hello Fresh
Personal trainer for me (used to spend this on counselling but now feel my anxiety is lessened more by the physical workout).

Basically all these things are paid for to prop me up enough to continue functioning. The pension contributions are there so I can retire early.

movinggoalposts · 26/02/2021 08:42

Can I add fresh flowers, a gardener, a decorator, a mobile dog clipping service and a window cleaner to my list?
