What would you treat yourself to regularly?

I'm not talking about the super rich, winning the lottery etc. Just being in a situation where you were very comfortable and didn't have to worry about money.

I'd :

  • have Sunday dinner out every week
  • purchase nice skincare that you'd get in spas. I used to work in a spa and had loads of freebies and miss it loads.
  • pedicures
  • Naice candles
  • a cleaner to do the jobs I hate doing ..skirting boards, wiping down doors.

One can dream Grin

Definitely a cleaner.

Dailyhandtowelwash · 24/02/2021 12:16

@GoodQueenAlysanne

I'd go to a proper demeratologist regularly.
Gosh, yes. We are comfortable enough for most things we want, as we have fairly limited wants really. But I would love to see a private dermatologist and get various moles and a big cyst on my neck removed.
Dazedandconfused10 · 24/02/2021 12:17

Monthly flower subscription is the thing I treated myself to when I got a promotion.

Pizzaandgarlicdip · 24/02/2021 12:17

More holidays
More eating out
More expensive clothes

justanotherneighinparadise · 24/02/2021 12:18

Definitely a cleaner and a gardener!!! Plus I’d have my nails and feet done every couple of weeks. Heaven!

doubleleopardy · 24/02/2021 12:19

@EvilPea

Pre chopped veg in the freezer for cooking with and pre grated cheese
Pre-grated cheese is shit, has a weird texture and doesn't melt properly but it's not that much more expensive.

We have onion, garlic and herbs in the freezer and it's great especially when we're trying not to shop as often because of covid.

bananamonkey · 24/02/2021 12:20

In normal times we have a cleaner to do the basics, I’d love one to change beds and do ironing, clean the windows etc.

Regular manicures, pedicures, massages, facials

A personal trainer.

Regular food shopping from M&S or Waitrose.

We’re lucky we’re not on a tight budget but those things feel like luxuries.

barnanabas · 24/02/2021 12:23

We are comfortably off by many people's standards and are lucky that we don't have to worry about money on a daily basis. We absolutely prioritize holidays and 'experiences', day trips etc. Which means that if we had more money I would want to spend it on doing work to (or rather getting other people to do work to) our lovely but scruffy house. I don't know how much money we'd have to have before DH thought that was a priority though!

TokyoSushi · 24/02/2021 12:23
  • A cleaner who also does the ironing
  • Really nice gym membership
  • Regular hair/beauty treatments
  • Food shopping from M&S/Waitrose/Ocado
  • Food boxes such as Hello Fresh or Gousto
  • Have the garden landscaped

We could probably have all of these things but we're still in a position where they're considered frivolous rather than easily afordable.

1940s · 24/02/2021 12:24

Fortnightly massage with a facial or pedicure as an alternative fortnightly add on.
Have my current cleaner do 1.5 hours extra per week to include a deep clean of one room or bonus such as fridge or oven
Get a recipe delivery service 3 times a week - to home cook but with less brain effort!
Waitrose food
Ethical clothes for my child instead of hastily bought supermarket / high street clothes

ExplodingCarrots · 24/02/2021 12:24

@bananamonkey we're in a similar situation where we are comfortable to an extent but can't splurge freely. We do have plenty of treats but it can't be a regular thing.

Another to add : being able to afford really nice cuts of meat regularly.

Tisforptarmigan · 24/02/2021 12:24

I'd like to have seasonal personal shopper appointments where they would chose me nice modern clothes and I could afford to buy a whole outfits in one go. Shoes, bag, jeans, coat, tops etc. I would look stylish at all times rather than mismatched and scruffy.

If we are really pushing the boat out, I would also have new pair or rubber gloves each week. Opening a new packet of gloves if one of the joys in my life.

Dailyhandtowelwash · 24/02/2021 12:26

As someone who often shops at Waitrose and M&S because of limited local options rather than choice, I would give my soul for a Lidl or Aldi! You realise that a lot of the time you're paying more for something of the same quality, and that you could be spending that money on more exciting things.

ilovespinach · 24/02/2021 12:27

I'd have my colour done at the hairdressers

AledsiPad · 24/02/2021 12:31

Lord, I do/have so many of these (in normal times). Sometimes I forget how bloody fortunate we are.

My favourite luxuries are:
Gousto
Fresh Flowers - I buy from M&S and they last ages.
Not worrying about how to replace something if it breaks. This is the big one. I can remember the fear of one of the kids shoes falling apart and not knowing where the money to replace them would come from. Sad

bananamonkey · 24/02/2021 12:33

We do get a weekly Gousto box, it is a total luxury but saves me so much time and mental energy, I love it.

UpstartCorvid · 24/02/2021 12:33

a cleaner to do the jobs I hate doing ..skirting boards, wiping down doors

Top tip. Stop doing them, and pretend you won on a scratchcard.

amusedbush · 24/02/2021 12:33

I’ve always wanted to have enough money to get my hair washed and blow dried weekly. I hate doing my own hair Grin

VictoriaLudorum · 24/02/2021 12:33

Cleaner, gardener, monthly facials/massages/refelxology and lunch out twice a week.

cyclingmad · 24/02/2021 12:34

When I moved up in my current role, its made my much more comfortable. I now keep on top of my hair cuts more often than before and buy clothes from Reiss etc that I couldn't afford before. Also started travelling more and only stay in really nice hotels.

Obv all this was pre-covid.

LindaEllen · 24/02/2021 12:34

A cleaner, and YouTube Premium.

Alfaix · 24/02/2021 12:36

People who can afford this are often too careful with money to spend it like thisGrin
That’s how they got all the money in the first place Grin

ginghamtablecloths · 24/02/2021 12:36

I'd buy a nice bunch of flowers every week instead of just the cheap daffodils and I'd treat myself to new clothes more often.

HPandTheNeverEndingBedtime · 24/02/2021 12:38

DD was accepted in to the local girls independent but we've had to turn down the place as they aren't offering financial assistance, (rightly prioritising girls already at the school). In normal years we would probably have received 80-100%. So I would pay for Dd to go there.

Anna12345678910 · 24/02/2021 12:38

I am but not a lot of what I like to do open at moment:

Usually I have a monthly facial treatment, also have peels and LED treatment.
Nails every 3 weeks. Lash and brow tint and curl.
Massage.

I miss all of these. I see it also as supporting local businesses, passing the money around not dumping in a savings account and sitting on it
