What would you treat yourself to regularly?

I'm not talking about the super rich, winning the lottery etc. Just being in a situation where you were very comfortable and didn't have to worry about money.

I'd :

  • have Sunday dinner out every week
  • purchase nice skincare that you'd get in spas. I used to work in a spa and had loads of freebies and miss it loads.
  • pedicures
  • Naice candles
  • a cleaner to do the jobs I hate doing ..skirting boards, wiping down doors.

One can dream Grin

I’d have Gousto or Hello Fresh delivered.

I’d have my cleaner back so the little bit of energy I do have could be spent on fun things.

I’d ‘treat’ myself to fixing the leaky roofs and the mould damage, it would be so lovely to have a house to be proud of again.

I’d have a chicken katsu curry from Yo Sushi every Wednesday.

Once in a while, I’d hire someone to watch my kids and dogs whilst I was driven to the seaside. I’d sleep all the way there and back. For one blissful hour, I’d eat fish and chips, drink tea, eat ice cream and people watch.

I’d pay someone to check my bank statements, do my invoicing and sort out doctors’ appointments.

CaffeineInfusion · 24/02/2021 14:20

I'd pay a decorator, instead of doing a botch job myself.

Pizzaandgarlicdip · 24/02/2021 14:31

Oh my gosh yes to a decorator! I’ve done 90% of our painting myself and it kills me seeing the evidence of my complete lack of cutting in skills everyday

DragonPoop · 24/02/2021 14:38

Get driving lessons and a cheap car (we can’t afford it at the moment)
Have a takeaway now and then,
A gym membership, but at a nice gym like David Lloyds with good facilities like a nice swimming pool and sauna etc,
Have more days out with my little boy at places like the zoo, going swimming, soft play, get a national trust membership etc (Obviously when allowed lol)

Dailyhandtowelwash · 24/02/2021 14:46

Plenty of people with lots of money spend it like this quite happily and have more to spare. I know many of them. Telling people off for dreaming of little luxuries in life is bit harsh.

Equimum · 24/02/2021 14:51

I would:

  • get a cleaner
  • pay for decorating
  • do more horse riding
KobaniDaughters · 24/02/2021 14:55

Have our cleaner come every week instead of once a month
Monthly massages
Fresh flowers every week or two

MaudesMum · 24/02/2021 14:55

I'd find a small clean hotel in central London, and get in the habit of staying there regularly. It would mean I could go and see plays or go out without getting the sort of train home that gets in in the early hours...

Unfucked · 24/02/2021 14:58

I had a decent income before Covid and many of the services above I’m ashamed to say I took for granted.

I no longer have a cleaner (her choice not mine) and it’s saving me so much money, but the house doesn’t actually look dramatically worse. If office life ever restarts I’ll miss her ironing, but the drycleaners offer a shirt service so I’ll book in with them instead.

I’m glad I’ve continued having private health insurance though - we’ve still been able to see doctors, have tests etc throughout the pandemic. I think the NHS waiting times are going to be terrible for the next few years, so will never begrudge my premiums again.

I haven’t missed holidays or fancy restaurants at all, and our previous social life was dedicated to them. Obviously the fantastic weather from Lockdown One helped.

I’ve really enjoyed being able to dress for comfort rather than style, even in front of the boss.

Gliblet · 24/02/2021 15:01

We rent, if that were still the case then a house with a bit more space.

A cleaner.
Regular head/neck/shoulder massage.
More shopping from local businesses rather than Aldi.
Drop a day or so a week at work and start offering consultancy.

GirlInterruptedAgain · 24/02/2021 15:02

I would get a masseuse. I have massive problems and I’ve had one massage in my life and it was amazing.
Have lovely holidays in villas and not cattle market hotels!
Build and extension for all this wfh we are subject to.
Pay to use a pool privately each morning, or if I were extremely well off I’d get my own pool.

Imonlydoingwhatican · 24/02/2021 15:05

Take the myself and family to the hairdressers rather than doing it myself

Unfucked · 24/02/2021 15:06

Definitely missing hairdressing and manicures, and flowers around the house that I haven’t grown myself.

OldRailer · 24/02/2021 15:08

I'd get my hair styled between haircuts.
I would eat out. A lot.

IncyWincyGrownUp · 24/02/2021 15:26

Another here who would outsource the cleaning, decorating, and gardening.

I would probably pay to have my teeth straightened too.

longtompot · 24/02/2021 15:28

Fresh flowers delivered, especially scented roses
Nice candles
More expensive wine
Facials, massage, manicures

Katyy · 24/02/2021 15:33

Get my teeth fixed, and I’d love to afford a private back treatment. After I’ve got my body sorted I’d like to stay in really good hotels, buy good skin care and lovely candles .

Slumberdoon · 24/02/2021 15:34

Maybe not working 6/7 day weeks while homeschooling 3+ kids doing all the cooking cleaning, support, it and life admin while barely being able to afford rent and food despite having lots of qualifications, great performance and a good attitude? Feeling bitter today sorry

RevolutionRadio · 24/02/2021 15:37

Cleaner, gardener, personal trainer, abroad holidays.

CovidPostingName · 24/02/2021 15:42

Personal trainer who comes to the house and picks me up.
Daily Cleaner/housekeeper - I'd pay handsomely as I'd want them to do everything.
Gardener.
Professional hair colour and cut regularly. Currently doing own colour even pre covid but it needs better!
Eat out at least weekly.

justjuggling · 24/02/2021 15:44

Regular facials and massages. Bliss!

Pinkandwhiteblossom · 24/02/2021 15:47

@Flickoffboris

I've just returned to work from mat leave and I've splurged on: Weekly cleaner for 2 hours Weekly Gousto box for 4 meals per week The difference in my life is astounding
Both DH and I work very long hours and our cleaner is (and knows she is) so very important to us. She promises she’s never leaving me. If I had to pick her or DH, honestly I’d have to take a second!!!
floofycroissant · 24/02/2021 15:51

4 day work week and laser hair removal.

runwithme · 24/02/2021 15:56

A cleaner
Personal trainer
Monthly car valet
Wine subscription
Declutterer
Regular massage, nails, hairdresser appointments
Higher quality clothing
Local spa membership
Days out with the kids a little more pricey

Blobby10 · 24/02/2021 15:57

For just a few hundred extra a month I could:

  • Definitely get a cleaner
  • Try those weight loss eating plans where they send the meals
  • update my wardrobe regularly but use a style consultant as I discovered this morning my wardrobe is basically black, grey and white with the occasional red jumper thrown in.
  • by a decent folding camper and go away on holiday to the seaside asap
