Thought it was my turn to start a thread.

I am actually a little frightened at the moment. And worried for my children. I honestly don't know what to do. I don't want them growing up in a muzzled world or one that tells them their existence is dangerous to other people.

And, honestly, I don't actually ever want to use the NHS again. The emotional blackmail is too much.

I held my nose to vote and not spoil last time. It was only the fact that my MP is such a safe seat with a 10,000+ majority that I was able to hold my nose, shut my eyes and say "la la la" as I cast my vote for the xxx vote party who've lost their way by forgetting what a woman is. But in the bigger picture, I don't want to lose a spread of party options to vote for when they regain their senses and get hit over the head with a dictionary.

ISaySteadyOn · 04/03/2021 11:04

That's interesting. I spoiled mine for the same reasons, safe seat and lack of knowledge what a woman is. I wonder if our safe seats are from different parties.

Personally, I would still vote for Jourdain and CoffeeWithCheese's DDs over any of our current options!

OP posts:
SirSamuelVimes · 04/03/2021 11:59

I also spoiled mine for that reason. Safe Tory seat, didn't want to vote Tory and (in my head) endorse Brexit, but couldn't vote for a single party on the left as they all claimed to have no idea what a woman is.

110APiccadilly · 04/03/2021 12:04

Neil Hamilton probably does know what a woman is, to his credit. Maybe I should vote for him.

SirSamuelVimes · 04/03/2021 12:10

But would he have to guts to come out and say so, @110APiccadilly?!

In Covid news, looks like the over 80s are leading the charge for civil liberties and common sense!

I am a regular user of the NHS

Between this, and shocking behaviour by the medical profession generally, I am seriously wondering if I can manage my conditions using herbal methods. I don't mind at all if that shortens my life. I always said George Michael age was good enough for me. I'm scared of the longevity on mum's side.

I don't actually want to live in 1984 anyway.

I think one issue is once the medics have their claws in you, it will be incredibly hard to get them out. I'm slightly worried we will go more deeply into medics having control of us.

I did not vote for Socialism. I'm not going to vote in the local or Mayoral elections unless something major changes.

MrsEWeatherwax · 04/03/2021 12:27

DD have vaccine this morning, very efficient.
I might vote against my principles in local election as having a Tory has helped Darlington. But I’ll probably go to hell in a handcart. Not sure my conscientious will let meBlush

110APiccadilly · 04/03/2021 12:39

@SirSamuelVimes

He might do. I've had a quick Google and found this account from the BBC of a debate in the Senedd (Welsh parliament).

www.bbc.com/news/amp/uk-wales-politics-42343250

He's certainly not a #nodebate -er.

ISaySteadyOn · 04/03/2021 12:39

@AcornAutumn, me too with herbal remedies and diet and rest and as much exercise as I can manage. Which is not as much as I want atm.

Which is not to say I would necessarily agree with everything Gareth Bennett said either.

MrsDeaconClaybourne · 04/03/2021 12:53

I thought the same Buzz we shouldn't suddenly have lots of younger people getting ill when they haven't up to now. Especially as younger vulnerable people are the group being vaccinated just now.

TabbyStar · 04/03/2021 13:33

I'm another one who's politically homeless because of the not knowing what a woman is issue. My very safe seat Tory MP does know what a woman is but the rest of his politics are crap and he's definitely a dementor.

This came up on my Facebook. Good to see it out there.
That the effects of covid are so much more than all the cases and sadly deaths. The effects on the education of our children, and also importantly children in developing countries.
I hope that serious questions will be asked about this as we move forward.

@DWPmisery1972 I'm not really that bothered by the police doing their job (apart from Derbyshire, who are on a blatant and weird power trip).
It's the fact it's their job in the first place to march on into people's houses with no search warrant. At what point will that particular power be rescinded?

Does anyone else have ridiculous roolz for school dropoff and pickup? We've just had ours through, and we have to line up in designated queues for each year group, at different times, no entry (to the yard outside) without masks. If we have more than one child, we have to wait for the entire duration, in the respective queues.
So I'll spend 40 minutes a day queueing in the rain, in a mandatory mask, and there is nothing I can do to resist this. I feel like I'm in East Germany.

You are allowed in the playground?!! We have to wait outside the gates with staggered start times and end times. Or I did before schools shut and I will if the school opens again.

The police thing is also scary. I feel as though all the people who I was taught to trust to help me are now people to be really wary of. I can't be the only one.

smallandimperfectlyformed · 04/03/2021 16:33

I have those stupid rules Ohnomoreno. I have one in nursery who finishes at 3.30 and one in reception who finishes at 3 pm. We have to wear a mask in the queue outside the school premises, then they open the gates and we queue inside the playground before going out again. We are regularly reminded of the fact that we should not be standing around outside chatting - in fact we even got sent a 'lovely' poem last term which was taken from Medway - despite the fact that many of us have children in different years and therefore have to stay outside. Sometimes I get my year 6 child to take the 5 year old home so she isn't waiting around for ages. It's rubbish! As much as I am looking forward to them going back to school I am not looking forward to that again, and definitely not the amount of emails they send reminding us about masks etc

BogRollBOGOF · 04/03/2021 16:39

We are on the playground.
There was a parent zone at the back, but they did quickly realise that enforcing cramming the parents in 1/5 of the space wasn't worth getting shirty over.

Supposed to wear face rags. I never have. I really have struggled with a buff and a visor in shops, as in hyperventilating before even picking up a single prescription in the pharmacy in a visor. The more I move the worse it is, and with my family having no aptitide for timekeeping, it's always a good brisk walk to be in the nick of time and I'm not playing pointless games around that on a windswept playground. Face coverings outside is my line of refusing to even attempt to play ball for its sheer pointlessness. The only place I could be picking Covid up from in the near future is my cute little disease vectors respiring in the classroom. I'm not the hazard, and I'll probably be vaccinated before April is out and life gets substantially more interesting.

But yes, other than having to adjust back to being amongst expressionless people and their muffled garbling without the benefit of lip reading- I can't even cope with looking at it because it's too much of a processing mash, oh how I'm looking forwards to Monday and I've not encountered a single parent not enthusuastic about the grear return.

Worldgonecrazy · 04/03/2021 16:40

It was suggested that parents wear masks for pickup. It’s about 50/50 do and don’t. The parents of the nursery school tend to be more law abiding but I think that’s because they want to make a good impression so their little darling gets a place at the school.
