What are the most memorable, unique, or lovely dog names you've come across that you will never forget?

I met a dog called Beetlejuice today, thought it was brilliant! I also used to know a dog called midnight, never met another one but always loved the name.

Friends have just got a frenchie he’s called Trevor, big name for a small dog.

BullshitometerCalibrator · 24/02/2021 00:06

Someone in my village has a springer spaniel called Magic. He's certainly good at the disappearing act when his owner is out walking him and secretly meeting up with his fancy piece. The poor dog does a weekly runner whilst they're obviously not social distancing and canoodling somewhere they think they're hidden.
Whilst on holiday in the Cotswolds heard a dog being shouted called Yo Diggity. Still not sure if it was called Yo Diggity or just Diggity as there was no pause between the words when it was being shouted. Not sure what breed it was but it was a bit scrappy and a bit of a digger. Also there on holiday once met a border collie called Chewbacca.

I know someone who has a little dog called Ryan. I'd love to get a sausage dog and call it Stephen.

My husbands colleague was a bit disgruntled one morning. The evening before after a long day are work and a 4 hour commute home (working away), he got to the front door of his apartment and could hear someone shouting on him. He shouted back but no response, though again heard his name! Traipsed back down stairs hearing his name being shouted again, it was a neighbour shouting on their dog ..... John. Grin He is still furious at having to walk back down the stairs to this day!

I used to volunteer at a rescue centre and my favourites of the dogs that came through were Douglas, Filbert, Hank, Eduardo, Bernard, Horace.

YourWinter · 24/02/2021 15:42
@YourWinter oh I just saw your post! I thought Dave and Brian were unusual Grin. I also know a Lola dog and a Bella cat... suppose my friends don't have that much imagination!
My beloved old dog Drummer, born in 1987, was sired by a prolific breed winner whose pet name was Brian, a legend in his lifetime!

Rebel was the dog in Champion The Wonder Horse, a tv series of the 1950s/1960s, and lots of German Shepherds then were named after him - my cousin had one (and also a Satan and a Demon).

Elderflower14 · 24/02/2021 15:51

Bumbledog who was quite famous on MN was previously called Bubbles... I kept thinking about MJs pet monkey and didn't like it. Our lovely ice cream man thought of Bumble and as he was black and tan it seemed quite suitable!
