What are the most memorable, unique, or lovely dog names you've come across that you will never forget?

I met a dog called Beetlejuice today, thought it was brilliant! I also used to know a dog called midnight, never met another one but always loved the name.

My parents' old neighbours had a cavalier spaniel called Charlie and a mean-looking ginger tom called Cromwell.

I was a dog walker so have met a few. I walked a Bingo who loved to run off so spent half my walk shouting BINGO like a crazy lady around the park. Also an Alfonzo and Bertie.

Trevor. Big randy old bastard who tried humping every dog it encountered.

My staffie cross is called Rita. I arranged to have her in a phone call and misheard her name which had been Zita. I never changed it.
A friends neighbour had a suba inu called PartX, having acquired her in a dodgy deal.
I also knew a standard poodle called Mary and a beagle called Brian.

Jasminexx · 21/02/2021 21:46

Mr Buxton.

He’s addressed by his full name at all times 🤣🤣

SlackieBeaver · 21/02/2021 21:47

Pretty sure I heard someone calling their dog Furlough, while I was walking my dog at the end of last summer. I thought that was a brilliant name.

amusedbush · 21/02/2021 21:47

My JRT is Archie, which is really common now but when we first got him it caused a few chuckles.

My dad maintains farm equipment so he travels around the countryside to fix people’s tractors, spending a lot of time alone outdoors. One guy said to him ‘if you need anything, just give Tam a shout’. Turns out Tam was the dog, who dutifully led my dad to the guy’s office Grin

amusedbush · 21/02/2021 21:48

Oh, and not a dog but my best friend in secondary school had a ferret called Robert Grin

I worked with a partially sighted lady who had a black Welsh Collie called Midnight - shortened to Middie.

Oh and I almost got a rescue staffie called Doug (dug)

midlifesomething · 21/02/2021 21:55

Ronnie (Barker) Lol, but I think the best dog names are normal human ones like Dave, Derek, Maggie - they just seem cuter for dogs

Thighdentitycrisis · 21/02/2021 21:55

Bootleg

MumofSpud · 21/02/2021 21:57

We have a springer called Spud (as in my name) - his surname is Murphy!
