is your dog called luna? how many do you know?

my friend had a puppy about 6 years ago she named luna but since then it must be the commonest name for a dog

My dog is called Luna! I've only met one other when out walking her (we both called "Luna!" at the same time ) but there are a lot in the breed Facebook group I'm in. It's a lovely name, I don't mind that other people think so too.

I have a Luna. We call her Luna the lunatic! She totally suits her name. My daughter chose it. Yes it's very common unlike my children's names but I love it

I’m in a fb group for GSD owners. I just did a quick search and found 17 straight away. There are also loads of Kaisers for males.

Just came back from a dog walk and met a pup called Luna,what a funny coincidence.

Every other female lockdown puppy around here seems to be called Luna. Archie seems to be the favourite for the male puppies. I did meet one pup the other day called Sinbad! Not heard that one before.

mine too otoh my dd's name turned out to be quite common when she started primary

I work with dogs and it's getting to be a very popular name, it used to be that I met lots of dogs named Poppy, the most common name now for male dogs seems to be Alfie.

We got a cockapoo a few years back and if it was a girl we were planning on calling her Luna 😆 We got a boy whom we named Dexter (another common dog name according to a snobby colleague I used to work with!)

My parents dog is called Luna, she's nearly 15 now though so not a new trend thing. The other 2 Lunas I know are human children.

a website i read about this said it started with harry potter luna lovegood initially and then just grew

No kidding, every dog I know is either called Luna, Lola or Roxy.
