Just head that Prince Charles has been to visit him in hospital due to ‘exceptional circumstances’. He’s never visited him in hospital before and apparently left looking emotional. It doesn’t look good does it? I wonder how this will play out given the pandemic?

The back entrance where he came out (and Charles went in) is down a narrow mews with barely enough room for the ambulance and the security cars
It IS in effect a private drive

Fair enough, but in that case I'm a bit surprised they can't keep the reptiles of the media out of it, if only on the basis of leaving more room for emergency vehicles

Or maybe, like much of London, it's overlooked from somewhere and doing this wouldn't make much difference?

DobbyTheHouseElk · 01/03/2021 18:56

Laiste thank you. I know it wasn’t specific to PP, but it hoped it would explain a few things you don’t naturally think of. My parents have private health care for operations and I didn’t know that previously. It never occurred to me that they don’t have a crash team. It’s taken for granted that NHS hospitals do.

LoveYourUsername · 01/03/2021 19:00

I agree 100% @Puzzledandpissedoff But it IS a private drive anyway in the sense it's for residents only and the hospital.

But the press will be there with telephoto lenses and standing on the street.

I think it's a lose-lose situation. If they ask them to move, it will only alert them to 'something happening'. In the scheme of things, seeing a few big umbrellas is not a big deal IMO.

I'm sure they have more to worry about. Like the M&H filming which I sincerely hope will be pulled.

The poor Queen. Almost 95 and having to cope with all of this.

@derxa I think I just feel for any people who find themselves in a really bad mental health situation. But we're in the middle of this Covid nightmare. Millions have lost their lives, millions have lost their livelihoods and millions are suffering poor mental health as a result. They're no more important than anyone else. I struggle to sympathise very much.

VinylDetective · 01/03/2021 19:04

It’s already been done, there was an excerpt from it on the 6pm news.

thetell · 01/03/2021 19:06

@derxa I know people are suffering, but I think having your life splattered across the press for millions to read every day is also horrific suffering - It must be absolutely awful, especially when much of it is unfounded / inaccurate. You must feel so powerless, so hated. These are people not objects! And the press actually makes them more important than anyone else by putting stories up that millions of people click on - every time you click on one of those stories their optics go up and they publish more. It is a horrible, barbaric, vicious circle I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy let alone a young couple at the start of their family life with their precious first born.

LoveYourUsername · 01/03/2021 19:07

@DobbyTheHouseElk It all depends.
Most private hospitals do not perform major surgery like heart stuff , transplants etc, for the reason they need specialist teams and equipment, BUT some do have ICU units and usually it's the surgeon (who will work in many hospitals incl NHS often ) decides where to do the op.

All private hospitals do gynae ops, hip replacements, and even cancer operations where the overall risk is manageable.

LoveYourUsername · 01/03/2021 19:08

Ah thanks @VinylDetective. Didn't hear that.

SpringisSpinning · 01/03/2021 19:09

People don't understand what's going on until they are at that bedside or they see it through work.

Lots of private hospitals do cardiac surgery.

The Cambridge’s & the Sussexes are not young couples. They are the parents of young children. It’s not the same at all. I had my second after several m/c at 38. I was not young & I didn’t feel it either. I was almost 40 - in no way is that young.

LoveYourUsername · 01/03/2021 19:13

@Coronawireless I didn't say they didn't- I said really major heart stuff incl transplants. Yes, I know they do heart ops like pacemakers, stents, replacing valves, etc.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 01/03/2021 19:14

Thanks LoveYourUsername, although I think it varies depending on the hospital.

Peaseblossom22 · 01/03/2021 19:14

‘A young couple at the start of their family life with their precious first born.’

Why do people keep saying this, she is 40 this year. At what stage do we consider people to be grown up and mature.

LoveYourUsername · 01/03/2021 19:17

@VinylDetective Where did you hear about the postponement of the H&M film?

It's not on the BBC news site or anywhere online. Quite the opposite in fact! (that it's going ahead.)

Coronawireless · 01/03/2021 19:18

They do major stuff too. Eg CABG. There really is no limit.
The only reason they don’t do transplants is because organs come from a national registry and private transplants are not allowed.

You could be describing Charlie Gard's parents. Yet MN let threads run and run. I know which couple I feel sympathy for. That's real suffering.

That’s what I said - that it’s not being postponed! They showed a bit of it on the 6pm news.

For once I agree; I've neither respect nor patience for the institution, but she's still a woman and all this really can't be pleasant

VinylDetective · 01/03/2021 19:23

She’s a tough old bird, she’ll manage.

Thank you - you’ve put it much better than me! Neither the Cambridges or the Sussexes are young. I think Kate & Meghan are 39? A year off 40. Not young!

Your husband of 70 years in Hospital & you can’t be there? It’s still tough whoever you are.

Not only grown up and mature but also incredibly privileged.
Dugee · 01/03/2021 19:37

I can't imagine my family life, personality, relationship issues being attacked with a cleaver by the press just because it sells papers (really really sells, they are the biggest selling thing which is why you see 5 articles in a row in the same Daily Mail edition, they are paper selling gold, even more so than the Cambridges)

Megan was badly advised when she started a war with the Mail. Possibly by the Hollywood PR and Legal team that she chose to replace palace advisors.
