Craving takeaway - any good recipes?

Am desperately resisting ordering takeaway food for both financial and dietary reasons!

Have you got any good recipes that taste like their takeaway version?

I am SO BORED of all our dishes so just something different would be a treat!

Hairy bikers sweet and sour chicken is quite nice.
It is really easy too. I am not the biggest fan of sweet and sour stuff as I find it overpowering but I quite like this.

Great thank you!

I just do some special fried rice with it. I will check out that website too Larry, thanks for posting it.

I was craving a Wagamama's Yaki Udon and this recipe is very good!

Nohomemadecandles · 20/02/2021 20:00

Nadiya Hussain Shawarma recipe is brilliant.

KindKylie · 20/02/2021 21:55

Ooo thanks for all these ideas!

I would love to be able to recreate wagamamas veggie katsu!

I feel like getting rice and noodles right is a tricky task

I made this chicken tikka this week. It was lovely.
I saw the website recommended on a post on here, there's a fake away section on there as well. The orange chicken looks nice as well.

TigerDroveAgain · 20/02/2021 22:01

Tesco recipe chicken dopiaza is amazing

I use more onions in the sauce than they say, but it’s very tasty

Miltonj · 20/02/2021 22:01

Gok wan's brother, kwoklyn has a Chinese takeaway book. Well worth purchasing for future, it's amazing.

wishywashywoowoo70 · 20/02/2021 22:02

Can't beat a mayflower curry with rice and noodles.

Jackie2022 · 20/02/2021 22:03

Nando’s is probably the easiest to make at home, grilled halloumi, peri chips, if you e at meat, peri chicken of course

Jackie2022 · 20/02/2021 22:04

And Spicy rice, corn on the cob etc. All relatively easy to season appropriately at home. Nando’s even have their sauces/salt/seasoning at supermarkets!

mootymoo · 20/02/2021 22:06

I make fish curry quite a bit - very simple just chopped onions, mustard seeds, ground coriander, ginger, garlic, red pepper, turmeric, cook until onions are soft add coconut milk, cook until liquid is reduce by 1/2 add curry leaves and fish or mixed shellfish, once cooked add chopped coriander.

Beats a takeaway

fretnot · 20/02/2021 22:12

Nigella’s sweet potato and butternut red curry... utterly yummy!

General tao chicken. I add loads of veg to it too - onions, peppers, mange tout etc.

REALLY good, awesome leftovers too

KindKylie · 21/02/2021 18:50

Am really looking forward to having a go!

If you like Wagamama katsu the curry sauce tastes the same as this one which lots of Japanese people use www.waitrose.com/ecom/products/sandb-golden-curry-sauce-mix/364386-139908-139909

KindKylie · 22/02/2021 09:43

Grossedout12 · 22/02/2021 09:53

Check out the curries (some very healthy) on BBC Good Food

MrsJackRackham · 22/02/2021 10:48

Wagamama's Facebook page has videos showing how to make certain dishes. Firecracker chicken is a firm favourite here. I'm sure they also have the veg katsu.
