On a Saturday. I'm doing a roast with pigs in blankets and yorkies. Fuck all else to do.

I'm already on the wine. Wine

doctorhamster · 20/02/2021 18:19

DH is currently doing the very same thing Grin although I forgot to buy cranberry sauce Sad

Singlenotsingle · 20/02/2021 18:32

Dp is playing a MotoCross game on the tv, and playing background music - Icehouse . I'm cooking a shepherds pie, mumsnetting and thinking about reading a book. Not bored but looking forward to summertime. Grin

MotorwayDiva · 20/02/2021 18:32

We did this last week, DD asked why grandparents weren't there...

PussyCatInChristmasStockings · 20/02/2021 18:33

I did one on Thursday, for lunch.
Wine Cheers OP.

caramac04 · 20/02/2021 18:33

Fabulous

Bakedbeanhead · 20/02/2021 18:34

Cheers OP and Happy Christmas 🎄

SantaMonicaPier · 20/02/2021 18:39

This is genius. I'm going to do Xmas day mark 2 on Easter Sunday. Gifts, prosecco for breakfast with chocolate eggs thrown in.

TheRealMrsJamieFraser · 20/02/2021 18:39

We always do this at Easter! Love a Christmas dinner, I had fleetingly hoped that we could be with family by that point but not a chance. Too early for that level of restrictions to have been lifted.

I hope you had stuffing and red cabbage too!

MarmedukeDuke · 20/02/2021 18:42

Good work everyone.

I'm tempted to do this for the duration of lockdown once a fortnight or so. You can't beat a roast.

Though DH has just suggested in a kindly manner that I may not need another glass of wine Blush

He's right, so I might make a cup of tea and not clout him with a bottle.

We had red cabbage but I also did sausage meat and cranberry stuffing!

I found some chestnut stuffing lurking at the bottom of the freezer this morning, so we are having that with our roast pork tomorrow. Inspired by this thread, I might see if we have some Christmas crackers in the loft!

Love it!
hashbrownsandwich · 20/02/2021 18:46

I think we are all going to be doing this at Easter!

Awww, I’m a bit late to your thread so you might toomoissed to read Grin, but good for you OP! It’s a brilliant idea that I have to admit to doing every so often. A bit more challenging as all but DH are vegetarian, so I have to also make a mushroom Wellington too - I really love MW though so not a hardship. I think I might follow your lead next weekend cos my mental health is at rock bottom now. Thanks for cheering me up, just the thought of you all tucking in has made me smile 😊

MarmedukeDuke · 20/02/2021 18:49

WineMerry Christmas all! Wine

Hope you're all pissed watching the scouse derby.

toomoissed? What does that even mean? Sounds vaguely filthy. Meant to say too pissed - I don’t even have the excuse of wine 🤷‍♀️

Go for it! I love a welly and have never tried a mushroom one, but Christmas dinner is good any day!

I'm so full/pissed now. All the scraps are in the slow cooker for casserole tomorrow so I won't have to do hungover cooking Grin

What Turkey have you used? We fancied Turkey for Sunday dinner a couple of weeks ago but couldn't find any except those Bernard Matthews things

I got a basted turkey joint from Tesco, it was about £6 I think. I'll find it.

Ooh thank you @MarmedukeDuke I'm getting one for next weekend Grin

Bearsbearsbears40 · 20/02/2021 19:06

What a fab idea op! Enjoy it. I think I’ll do the same for Easter Sunday as pp have mentioned, with added Easter eggs!

Bearsbearsbears40 · 20/02/2021 19:06

I’m also watching the Merseyside derby. Not a Liverpool fan so it’s going well for me!
