BT asking for utility bill before sending an order .. scam?

Looks legit just seems odd and I know there’s a lot of scams going on. Anyone else had this?

What sort of order are they sending?

Email address looks fine, utility is spelt wrong. Bought through what I assume is the proper BT site.

Rong BT on the contact number on your bill and ring them to check?
If you have the time to sit on hold...

If you're unsure, don't do it.

A spelling mistake rings alarm bells to me. Whilst it is possible, I am assuming if this was BT and this was standard procedure, they would have a template that their staff would be using and therefore, pre-written so highly unlikely to contain mistakes. I would wait until Monday when you can phone them properly, personally.

Did you buy the EarPods from BT? Only asking as I wasn't aware they sold stuff like that.

How much are you paying?
If its crazily cheap then unlikely to be BT

I wonder if they've had lots of people trying to scam dodgy refunds out of them by claiming they weren't delivered?

Mis-spellings are common in scams, according to the training we have had at work.

Paid in full yesterday using debit card online. They haven’t taken the money from my account yet though. Surely if it was a scam they would have emptied it!

Thanks for your help everyone. I’ve just logged into my account on the website and it says “security check in progress, order pending” ... I should have done that originally

I wonder if it is due to people claiming they haven’t received them, as you said.

If you want to check a potential scam, don't phone the number the potential scammer gives you.

The same goes for email addresses and web pages.

You say you're not a BT customer. What prompted BT to contact you? How did they know your name and email address?
