Looks legit just seems odd and I know there’s a lot of scams going on. Anyone else had this?

@PigletJohn

You say you're not a BT customer. What prompted BT to contact you? How did they know your name and email address?
She bought air pods from their online shop

Maybe try this number

BT asking for utility bill before sending an order .. scam?
BigSandyBalls2015 · 20/02/2021 11:02

Yes the thanks, thank you is odd!

There’s an option to cancel, maybe I should do that!

Ring BT customer service on 0800 800150.

ScrapThatThen · 20/02/2021 11:08

That doesn't sound right.

BigSandyBalls2015 · 20/02/2021 11:46

I rang customer service, at first he said he wasn’t familiar with sales but when I explained the email and the spelling mistake he thought it was odd. And the fact I’m not asking for credit. So I’ve cancelled the order. Thanks all.

Contact your bank and cancel the card you used.

BigSandyBalls2015 · 20/02/2021 11:51

I was just thinking that!

Who have you cancelled the order with? How did you cancel it? By following a link from the (potentially) scammer email? Did you log in to a genuine website to cancel? (Clear your cache and delete all cookies first).

DianaT1969 · 20/02/2021 11:57

Who have you cancelled the order with? How did you cancel it? You got a number for Customer Services from a genuine website? Could he see your order?
As someone said, don't follow any links from the (potentially) scammer email or site. Clear your cache and delete all cookies.
I think you should cancel the card to be on the safe side too.

The BT shop

DianaT1969 · 20/02/2021 12:25

So you called the BT Shop using the number from an online search and were on the genuine website? You didn't get to the BT Shop via any links?
And they had a record of your order?

dementedpixie · 20/02/2021 12:28

@horridhorrid

Ring BT customer service on 0800 800150.
That's for BT phone customers not the BT online shop.

I gave a screenshot with the BT shop number.

BigSandyBalls2015 · 20/02/2021 12:48

Yes the genuine website.

It’s come up as cancelled, no email though
