what would you do with it right now?

This is unexpected money and bills and general living are already budgeted for.

Book Disneyland Paris for as soon as possible.

rawalpindithelabrador · 18/02/2021 19:12

Make travel plans

OrigamiOwl · 18/02/2021 19:13

I'd be starting to look at holidays. Or buying some new furniture & decorating stuff. Or putting it towards a hot tub. Or putting it towards a new bathroom. Or putting a deposit down on a puppy (probably best to wait for the prices to go down). Or... So many different options!

MyGoMargot · 18/02/2021 19:16

Debt pay-off fund 😬

Chasingsquirrels · 18/02/2021 19:18

If there was something I wanted around that price point, I'd buy it.
But if there wasn't I'd save it, either invested or in an account to treat myself when there was something I wanted.
What I wouldn't do is spent it for the sake of it.

SomewhereUpMyArse · 18/02/2021 19:18

2022 holiday. In a heartbeat.

To anywhere, any fucking where at all, that isn't the UK.

Cakeandslippers · 18/02/2021 19:18

Haha @OrigamiOwl this is my problem! I feel like it's sitting there and will just go on bills/ stuff for the kids but really it's excess cash we don't normally get and it's all mine! I've got decision paralysis!

It would go boringly into my savings account I should think, until the next dreaded household expense came along.

iPhonie · 18/02/2021 19:19

Save it until I need it, I guess! Looking to get our hall/stairs decorated so probably go towards that Smile

Onedropbeat · 18/02/2021 19:20

Put it in the safe for when I can travel again

shiningstar2 · 18/02/2021 19:22

1 would set it aside until lockdown is over and put it towards a holiday. If you normally wouldn't be going on one the £1000 would provide a little break you would never have had. If you have already budgeted for a holiday I would add it to the holiday fund so that, after this awful year, you could have a holiday with a bit more luxury than normal.

Suzi888 · 18/02/2021 19:24

Towards a holiday I think, or an extra cheapy holiday in the U.K. Though there may be no more cheapy hols anymore Sad

Floralnomad · 18/02/2021 19:26

I received an unexpected cheque for several hundred pounds today . I’m putting it in savings as there is nothing I need at the moment . I am not remotely tight with money but I never spend just for the sake of it .

wendz86 · 18/02/2021 19:27

I’d book a Uk holiday for the summer .

Chicchicchicchiclana · 18/02/2021 19:28

I would put it towards a new (second hand) car as my current one is fucked.

trilbydoll · 18/02/2021 19:28

I'd buy premium bonds while I thought about it and then I'd be so convinced that every month was my month I'd probably never withdraw it again!

lockdownleveller · 18/02/2021 19:30

Have my ensuite done.

DinosApple · 18/02/2021 19:31

I'd buy a really nice comfortable stylish leather armchair that I could park my arse on each evening for the foreseeable.

That's the sort of thing I'd really appreciate right now.

JaninaDuszejko · 18/02/2021 19:32

My bonus is usually about this amount, I like to buy something specific with it. One year I bought a piece of jewellery, another year some garden furniture. My chaise longue needs reupholstering so maybe that. Or buy a painting.

Cakeandslippers · 18/02/2021 19:46

I'm thinking along the lines of loads of these posts holiday is the answer, I'd love to take the kids abroad later this year or next for the first time, and this would really help. I guess I can whack it in savings till we know more about what we'll be be able to do.

But perhaps I'll take £50 or £100 out and treat myself to some clothes as I so rarely buy myself anything.

My bonus too , alas no bonus last year or this year I think Sad

In previous years I’ve bought nice watch, handbag or put it towards house renovations / purchase

SpudsandGravy · 18/02/2021 19:48

Kitchen improvements (it's a very small kitchen).

LaPoesieEstDansLaRue · 18/02/2021 19:51

Holiday or new sofa

ConsuelaHammock · 18/02/2021 20:16

Put it in the bank until you decide what to do with it .

ConsuelaHammock · 18/02/2021 20:18

Do you have much of an emergency fund ? Don’t spend it for the sake of it .
