If you could go anywhere in the world

Legally, where would you go?
For ultimate relaxation I would go to Thailand- probably Koh Samui. Sunbathe, swim, eat and read. That’s semi-realistic for the future.

In my wildest adventures I would love to go to Afghanistan! See the streets of Kabul, drive through the mountains and visit the mosques of Harat. Pre-covid some ‘edgy’ tour companies offered trips to Afghanistan but I’ve never been brave enough to book it! I’m probably more of a sun lounger kind of girl.
So where would you go?

I'd love to go on an African safari.
Not sure which country. I'd have to d more research it it were ever a glint of a possibility.

IdblowJonSnow · 14/02/2021 23:26

In warmer climes I'd like to go to Iceland.
I'd also like to drive across central Europe taking my time with multiple stops.

I'm really lucky that I've already travelled quite a bit. I've never been to the states though, but for some reason it doesn't appeal very much.

HurricaneBitch · 14/02/2021 23:30

There are very few places I wouldn't go. I've done quite a lot of travelling and pretty much loved it all. Right now I fancy Peru or maybe Costa Rica. There's a video of a wave floatation thing at a hotel in Peru doing the rounds on Facebook and I'd love to do it.

RubyFakeLips · 14/02/2021 23:32

Canada- The Rockies/Lakes, Vancouver Island whale watching etc
Bhutan- unspoilt
Russia - St Petersburg maybe Moscow, never been and always seems so mysterious and intriguing.

Turnedouttoes · 14/02/2021 23:33

We’ve been binging Amazing Hotels this weekend. St Lucia and St Moritz are now top of my list

chipsandgin · 14/02/2021 23:36

I was going to say Thailand too OP, or Malaysia maybe, lovely food & beautiful beaches, or a Caribbean white sand beach with a rum cocktail, or the Algarve with some fresh garlic prawns & an icy cold beer with a big gang of friends for a long afternoon with the kids running round in the sunshine.

To be fair right now I’d probably settle for Brighton in the pissing rain with a cup of weak tea rather than walk the same bloody walks again time after time...still, onwards & upwards eh!

quarentini · 14/02/2021 23:36

I just want to go to kefelonia and sit on my favourite beach .

DipSwimSwoosh · 15/02/2021 01:01

Lake Annecy. By train.

MinnieMountain · 15/02/2021 05:53

Island hopping in Greece.

Silkiechickscat · 15/02/2021 06:08

We were supposed to go to Borneo and the Perhentian Islands last summer which obviously got cancelled and would love to do that or just Borneo. But right now I'm not too fussy at all - would love to be able to swim and see wildlife.

Was looking today at the place we stayed with tree kangaroos in Australia and miss there.

But would be delighted atm with England somewhere.

EileenGC · 15/02/2021 06:41

Canada. Especially Alberta and BC.
Vietnam.
Southern regions of Argentina.

Right now with Covid, I would settle for England and Italy or, at a push, another trip to Japan. I miss those countries like crazy.

lovelyupnorth · 15/02/2021 06:48

This time last year we where in Ghana. Would love to see more of Africa.

As a side note they where already doing health checks in and out of Ghana then.

KobaniDaughters · 15/02/2021 06:48

So many places but I’ve had a yearning for India (never been) for years now - I would really love to do an ashram/yoga retreat for 2-4weeks then travel solo maybe meeting a friend or two along the way, do some volunteering for a friend’s charity in Chennai, take some cooking classes, ride the trains, go where the wind takes me....

50FootWave · 15/02/2021 06:48

I'm from a beautiful place in Dorset, I'd go there like a shot, on my own for a few days (so fed up of a full/noisy house).

I'd swim, walk, read, no food prep, homeschooling, zooming or talking to anyone....just me, the sea and peace and quiet....

KobaniDaughters · 15/02/2021 06:49

Although snap @EileenGC to loving and missing england, Italy and Japan

speakout · 15/02/2021 07:05

Thailand is lovely, but Koh Samui is the Thai Benidorm. It is harder to find a quiet place, but still lots of unspoiled places.
I spent a year in Thailand - thirty years ago, and even then Koh Samui was quite touristy.
I would probably go back to the Seychelles for peace.

LunaNorth · 15/02/2021 07:14

Punta Mita in Mexico.

ChilliMum · 15/02/2021 09:15

I have quite an extensive travel bucket list but right now the place I would most like to visit is my parents house Sad. I am overseas and haven't been able to hug them in a year.

ineedaholidayandwine · 15/02/2021 09:16

Back to Hawaii or the Seychelles. Stunning places

badlydrawnbear · 15/02/2021 09:22

To Africa on safari.
We went to New Zealand on our honeymoon (the only time we have been able to justify a very expensive holiday) and had an amazing time, but a safari was the second choice on our list. I would very much still love to go.
Or to take DC to Disneyland or to Japan. They love Disney obviously, but they also love anime and Japanese animated films (Totoro, Spirited Away, that kind of thing)

Indoorcamping · 15/02/2021 09:27

There's a particular hammock at the beach hotel we stayed at in Phu Quoc, Vietnam. I keep daydreaming about the nap I had there. Pre covid, pre child. Back when we were free.

Deathraystare · 15/02/2021 10:50

So many places! Enjoyed Adrian Dunbar's programme on the coast of Northern Ireland. Amazing scenery. Would like to see where Nan's dad was born - in Norther Harris. Would love to visit Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Finland. Bhutan, Costa Rica, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, New Zealand, parts of Africa - Namibia, Ghana, Gambia, Parts of US -Florida Everglades, New England, New York and also Canada - especially by train! Japan, Both Koreas, Antigua. Switzerland, Austria and parts of Germany.

heartcurrent1 · 15/02/2021 10:53

I'd go all over Italy food tasting & taking photographs Ive been once before and it was just breathtaking in the summer & I'd love to see Norway too.

Mydogisagentleman · 15/02/2021 10:55

Spain.
We are planning to move there permanently in about 4 years time and would love to be able to view some properties.
We have been lucky enough to live in Thailand, Malaysia and Oman.
I fancy somewhere like Las Vegas for a week then New York for another

MaryIsA · 15/02/2021 10:57

Japan was on our list for last year. I used to live there 25 years ago and have been longing to go back. It was a 5 week trip - 3 weeks with husband and 2 on my own. I wanted to get to Okinawa as I'd never been that far south. Go back to hot springs in Kyushu, stay in a temple in the forests, zip round Tokyo....eat all the food.

Instead we've bought a new house, got a puppy, and are planning house improvements...

One day.
