Good morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?

I'm feeling quite chipper this morning. No idea why, but it's nice!

I'm just having my silent cuppa, in the kitchen. The window's open but there's no noise from outside & it's lovely.

I've given myself until 10am to mooch about t'interweb then I'm going to get dressed, tidy the kitchen from last night's curry & wine (for me) and get the washer going. Probably a bit more housework too.

Dd2 has a selection of things she'd like to do this week so we'll see about doing one of them. Probably start growing sugar crystals today, since they'll take the longest I think.

Not sure about dd1; probably more Minecraft and more Minecraft streams on Twitch

Later on, I'll carry on with one of my crochet projects or some more of my book.

Takeaway for tea tonight, I think pizzas since I made curry last night. Maybe more wine for me, and some sweets/cake for all of us for later on when we're all chilled.

What about you? Anyone up to much? :)

We call it treat Saturday.

Youngest dd gets a McDonald's and me dh and teen dd get a costa coffee Smile

Hoping to do a wood walk with the dogs however we have bad wind here so not looking like a good idea. Shame.

That or a beach walk but I think that's going to be too dangerous in the wind aswel.

Been awake since 5 thanks to said wind so just bak in bed with a coffee and dh and pootling on tinternet for a bit then get up.

Got a dishwasher to empty and some washing to put on but due to being on furlough I keep up with house stuff throughout the week so it's lovely not to have loads to do.

Also like to mark the weekend as the weekend or every day feels the same and we are glad it's half term so we can have a more relaxed routine

fairplay · 13/02/2021 09:18

Morning! Glad you're feeling good today, I've woken up feeling positive today too.

We're going to walk the dog and drop my mums birthday present in her porch. This afternoon I'm making curry and qat hing the rugby. Then this evening I'm having a zoom catch up with my sister.

Hope you have a good day.

Morning @lucysmam!

(Long time regular on your Saturday threads but I’ve just NC’d again)

In my house... I am wallowing in bed with coffee and pondering a second coffee. The DC (8 and 5) are glued to PJ masks. They had a no screens day yesterday and are making up for lost time Hmm

We have DMIL living with us for probably most of this year while she (hopefully) recovers from some health problems. DH is currently in with her and the morning carer.

I need to do lots of laundry and cleaning. DH has made a good start by doing the kitchen while I’m up here being lazy Grin

I’m thinking a second coffee is probably in order and then I’ll go do the Sainsbury’s run.

It’s bitterly cold and windy, I’m not feeling inspired to take the DC out. Might do a bit of gardening but I think that’ll be it for the healthy outdoors stuff.

Dunno what dinner will be, maybe DH will have some inspiration. It’s all a bit “meh” here.

confusedofengland · 13/02/2021 09:36

Woke up far earlier than I ever do on a schoolday 🙄 So had a cup of tea & read my Book Club book in bed for an hour. Then came downstairs & got breakfast for us all - crumpets today. Just enjoying a coffee. I've slipped into the habit of having instant in the week & proper coffee, from beans, at the weekend, so it feels like a treat.

DH is watching football at 12pm, so we will let DC on their devices then & I will disappear upstairs for a stint on my exercise bike, a shower & possibly some decluttering of the loft.

After that, I plan to surprise them all with a special afternoon tea in honour of half term & Valentine's Day. Will just use what we have in (lots as I went yellow label shopping at Tesco last night) & set it out nicely on the table.

This evening we have a family Zoom bingo at 6pm, then we will watch the final of the Masked Singer with freezer pizza.

PandemicPalava · 13/02/2021 09:38

Today I am awaiting an iced biscuit delivery - a lovely new bakery opened and done occasion biscuits for £6 - so far we have had Christmas, New Year and now valentines. I have had the dogs name put on one of them as dd loves him best

Dog walk

Crochet

Cleaning a bit, hopefully not much.

Breathing out as no home school and can feel myself relaxing already

StillUpholding · 13/02/2021 09:40

I’ve only been up half an hour after DH got up with DD. I’ve made the beds, scoffed some toast and I’m enjoying a cuppa while DD plays. I’m going to do the housework this morning and we’ve decided on a walk this afternoon. DH is going to do the Morrison’s shop after that and get one of their big fresh pizzas for tea, and I have the dregs of a bottle of wine to accompany it.

DH has just found out he no longer needs to work tomorrow so we suddenly have a weekend that feels longer and more leisurely stretching in front of us Smile

Bluewavescrashing · 13/02/2021 09:41

We all woke at 8.30am, not bad with a 10 and 7yo. I made hot chocolate for myself and the DCs, unloaded dishwasher, put a wash on. They are playing a complicated game but quite nicely. Will send them out with DH for a walk later so I can clean and hoover then pizza for dinner.

parrotonmyshoulder · 13/02/2021 09:52

I’m only just learning to relax at weekends, so would like to join the thread.
I have just had a very nice coffee in bed and will now get up (have been up to feed DS and dog).
DD has baking plans so will need to shop for ingredients.
DH has exciting dinner plans so he will need the kitchen too.
DS (8) doesn’t know - probably lots of Pokemon.
I might do some kitchen tidying before they mess it up again, will walk the dog when the weather is nicer, and await the baked delights.

partyatthepalace · 13/02/2021 09:54

Thanks for this thread!

Also having my morning cuppa - lulled by the gentle noise of traffic - the sky is bright and the park looks nice though.

Today I am going to TIDY MY EXTREMELY MEssy house, because I can’t live with it ONE MINUTE longer. I’m weirdly quite looking forward to it though - probably getting away from a screen.

I shall report back...

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 13/02/2021 09:55

Good morning to you all,

I have already finished the cleaning and am now trying to fix a leak (washing machine). DH has already done half of the weekly shop.
I intend to bake a cake (apple/walnut/raisin) and then I have to log into work to finish a project.

It's cold but sunny.

Bubbles1st · 13/02/2021 09:58

I'm still in bed, trying to encourage my DP to make me breakfast before he tidies the kitchen as it makes sense not to make new dishes afterwards. He isn't biting.

So once I finally get up - will be soon as I need a wee. I'm going to eat spaghetti hoops on cheesy toast.

Put a wash on, empty the tumble dryer, vacuum through.

Get dressed. Take the dogs out.

Then we have some carpets to take up and fit in the car for a tip appointment Monday. Want to get it done today so tomorrow can be a more lazy day.

lucysmam · 13/02/2021 10:00

confusedofengland surprise afternoon tea sounds lovely; I wonder if mine would like that one day or eyeroll me! I'll have a think & see what I can come up with/add to my shopping list.

Pandemic the iced biscuit for the dog made me smile :)

parrot it took me a while to learn to just "stop" on a weekend. I'd be rushing to get stuff done before my Saturday job when things were "normal" but don't need to at the moment. I hope yours is peaceful, and the baking's delicious!

Morning @lucysmam I've just got a few small jobs to do then I plan on eating my way through the day 😄

Kim82 · 13/02/2021 10:03

Morning. We’ve had a lazy start so far today, only me, dh and 6yo dd are up so far, the two teens are still asleep. We were going to go for a walk this afternoon but it’s -2 all day here and really windy so we’ve decided against it. Dh is being weird and is going to paint the garden fences - why this can’t wait until it’s not bloody freezing outside I don’t know. I’m just going to clean the house and do the washing today, very dull but needs doing. I’ll take the youngest for a quick walk up to the shops for some sweets at some point to eat tonight in front of a film. I have absolutely no idea what else to do today.

gollymissdolly · 13/02/2021 10:07

Good morning everyone.
Just had a leisurely breakfast while catching up on the news on TV.
Sun is out here but it's still very cold so will wrap up warm and go out for a walk in the afternoon.
This morning I plan on starting an up cycling project I've been meaning to do for ages. Finally got round to buying the materials needed for it.
Having a family zoom meeting after our walk then some chilli con carne and nachos for tea.
Will probably find a suitable movie to watch this evening and might even make some popcorn 🍿.

gingercat02 · 13/02/2021 10:08

Just finished my first coffee. Considering whether to clean the house or pop out for compost and make a start on the veg plants for my very small veg plot. Having Zoom drinks for my friends birthday later. And it's half term so no work next week. All good here (and 6 nations)

tigerbear · 13/02/2021 10:15

Poor DP has to work for a few hours, but DD and I are going to make biscuits and do some paintings as Valentine gifts.
Hoping to get DD dressed and get her to play outside for a bit, as she’s becoming way too fond of pyjama days during lockdown!

AnneLovesGilbert · 13/02/2021 10:17

Got up early with toddler. DH having a well deserved lie in and I’ve been making the ugliest white chocolate truffles anyone has ever seen to give him tomorrow while reading books, having an imaginary tea party and listening to the radio.

Cam2020 · 13/02/2021 10:21

Morning MN!

Also feeling pretty bright and breezy today! DD and I are washed and dressed, I've cleaned and sunk two cups of coffee. Having a little TV/ MN time before we make some valentines cookies, then an, afternoon of activity books, reading and playing. Might go for a walk later, but we've been out in the snow every day this week and quite fancy a day indoors.

lachy · 13/02/2021 10:22

Not long back from Tesco, M&S and collecting a parcel from Next.

Need to play fridge Jenga, Strip the beds, washer will be on all day long and put washing away.

Am treating DH & me to a Chinese Takeaway tonight, DD has requested fish fingers and chips for tea.

Need to clear my office up so I can carry on decorating it.

Looking like a busy day in our house!

MozzchopsThirty · 13/02/2021 10:26

What a lovely thread, hope everyone has a lovely day

It's my friends birthday and I've ordered her an afternoon tea from local caterer which I'm dropping off on her doorstep with a bottle

Me & DP ordered one too Grin and we'll have ours watching the rugby

Beaniecats · 13/02/2021 10:26

Nothing
Nothing to do

Rainbows2021 · 13/02/2021 10:43

Just been for a dog walk, picked a costa coffee hot chocolate up (white with coconut milk!.. much recommend) and were now snuggled under blankets until DH goes for his jab later

nevernotstruggling · 13/02/2021 10:46

I'm watching the end of the bay in bed. The dds are with dad until Tuesday.

Dp runs a recording studio so he left ages ago to babysit the electrician or something.

I might have another cup of tea.

The dog is in the bed with me.

Later I'll go and buy some valentines treats from whatever is open. I might get dp a balloon from Morrisons though. Why not

Ihavenoauthority · 13/02/2021 11:08

Sounds fabulous, can I come round. I'll be no trouble, honestly
