Why are you awake? Me ... toothache :(

I can't sleep, got dental problems, developed into an infection so my gum is swollen and it's hurting. On antibiotics since Wednesday afternoon so assuming it'll go very soon, but yesterday afternoon my gum swelled more and it's just horrible

Up now, had more ibuprofen, took another antibiotic and warm salt water rinse ... worse still I can't find the bloody telly remote so I'm the dark with Mumsnet - no telly 😔

Why are you awake ?

@custardbear my 2.5 year old woke up at 2 and is currently playing, mummy and daddy are very tired but she isn't!

FossilisedFanny · 12/02/2021 04:32

Ooh toothache is awful, hope the antibiotics kick in soon for you.
I’m awake with a migraine, I’m also waiting for an urgent eye appointment at the hospital because my sight has gone blurry and I’ve got weird flashes when I move my eye. My head is killing me.

readthestandingorders · 12/02/2021 04:35

Had my vaccine yesterday, had to have the Astra Zeneca one due to an allergy but I ache all over, like I've been run over by a bus. Still prefer this to covid mind and hoping it will pass soon.
Fingers crossed for your toothache to subdue, there's no pain like it

Oh no, poor you. Toothache is horrible, really wears you down.

Have you anything other than brufen?

I'm awake only because I never sleep well

NoSquirrels · 12/02/2021 04:37

I’m sorry custard - dental pain is the worst. Poor you. Flowers

I’ve been awake since 2.30. Just mind racing. Happens pretty frequently since my mum died last autumn Sad I’m not awake thinking specifically of her, I’ve just got loads of work/life worries and responsibilities running on a loop. Lockdown is not helping and my decision-making/prioritising abilities feel really exhausted. I did avoid picking up my phone for an hour but it was clear I just wasn’t going to switch off so I’m distracting myself on MN.

Will probably try to go back to sleep soon.

NiceTwin · 12/02/2021 04:39

Migraine. On day 3 of it Sad. Was sick last night with it but have woken again feeling nauseous.
Hoping I am not sick as nothing on my stomach as can't eat.

Youvegotafriendinme · 12/02/2021 04:40

Ouch toothache is awful. I hope you feel better soon.

I’m awake because I’m in Labour. Contractions are still only 5-6 minutes apart so not close enough together to go in to hospital yet. I’m starting to get tired and hungry yet I can’t sleep because of the contractions and I don’t know what I fancy to eat!

NiceTwin · 12/02/2021 04:40

Oh yes OP, you have my sympathy, tooth pain is just the worst.

More Flowers. My DH suffers badly with migraines and always loses sight/gets aura, and often his speech gets slurred too, like he’s drunk. Possible you’ve been having an extended episode of migraine if you’ve been having vision issues?

Tooth pain, all over pain. Hurts to breath.

star8 · 12/02/2021 04:42

Awake for past 2 hours with foot pain. You know when side off nail may crack or have not been cut off properly and you pull it off and then feel the ache the next day. Thats me right now
Random but if you know you know

An exciting reason to be awake!

You fancy... cheese on toast/crackers, or some cereal, or a lot of biscuits...?

Pinkglittery · 12/02/2021 04:47

I'm 40 weeks today and waters have been leaking since yesterday morning. I'm hoping labour will start before I have to be induced today. So I'm awake due to revolting trickling feeling!

custardbear · 12/02/2021 04:56

Aaahhh two babies on their way - good luck ladies!

Foot pain - I used to suffer with I growing toenails - I feel your pain - that makes you feel sick that pain - I remember the sides of my toe next to the nail would go bright red and almost black sometimes - it was awful, and I'd regularly knock or or stub my toe too - and the pain was terrible - hope it gets better soon

Migraine - only had it once - horrible - I hope you both get better very soon

Fellow tooth ache sufferer - any tips on the pain

I'm currently taken ibuprofen, had cocodamol at about 1am and had another antibiotic about an hour ago. Rinsing with salty water too - it's just miserable - still not found the telly remote either 😣

Same OP. Ibrofeon before bed and just woke up and had to take two co-codamol. I'm getting good at chasing my tablets and waking up around 5 the last few nights in agony lol.
I have been on antibiotics since yesterday so hoping they kick in. Dentist thinks it's an impacted wisdom tooth though. I'm about ready to just pull my back tooth out to get rid of the pain and for some reason I can taste blood.

A tip which helps a little is heat, I look like o have slapped cheeks but loving with a hot water bottle attached to my face.

Good luck to the ladies in labour! How exciting.

custardbear · 12/02/2021 05:06

Oh gosh more tooth ache in Mumsnetland 😔
Have you guys got swollen gums too? I've never had that before - it was a small lump Wednesday when I was at the dentist getting X-rays and antibiotics then in the later afternoon yesterday it grew along the gum line - thought antibiotics would stop that but guess they take a couple of days to work effectively

Roll on this afternoon as it'll be 48 hours by then
Root canal on Tuesday - joy!

My 11 year old woke me at 4 o’clock being sick on her bed. Not even sure how she got sick! She has been around anyone for weeks now!

melmo26 · 12/02/2021 05:13

TheFoz · 12/02/2021 05:13

Pregnancy insomnia. 36 weeks today and I’m wide awake. I tossed and turned for nearly an hour and a half so now I’m on the couch watching One Born Every Minute and eating a cereal bar.

MessAllOver · 12/02/2021 05:14

I'm writing a paper for work. Nursery has been shut most of this week because of the weather. So I'm going to bed at 8pm with my 3yo, waking up at 2am and working until he wakes up at 6.30/7am.

Allamericanreject · 12/02/2021 05:18

I don't think if I have swollen gums, don't think so but my face is swollen and gums bleeding when brushing my teeth.
When on painkillers it feels like I had a filling and the numbness has worn off..like my tooth feels too large.

Wow mess all over that's dedication. Make sure to treat yourself after.

FruitLoopzz · 12/02/2021 05:19

Following the ladies in labour... keep us posted 💓

Get well soon everybody else 💐

I just randomly awoke for no good reason, thoughts I’d pop onto mumsnet for a scroll x

MessAllOver · 12/02/2021 05:20

It's only for a week. I feel sorry for all the wfh/home-schoolers who have had a month of this already.

Dental problems sound worse Flowers.
