Hi!
I keep remembering bits of some books I read as a teenager and in desperate to find out the name and track them down! Sorry in advance for how useless my descriptions will no doubt be!

The first series was about a kind of loner beautiful in an ~unconventional way girl. She was kind of superhuman I think? She had a guy best friend, there was a bit about her being mugged I think and she destroyed the thugs. She's got long blonde hair. The books focus on her finding out about her powers she's super strong and I think her absent dad turns up involved in some organisation? She ends up meeting others who have powers too I think? She doesn't fit in at school. She's wanted by some bad guys who want to use her powers. Any ideas?!

The second was about models. Another series. Lots about wearing a plain white t shirt to castings!? The books focused on the friendships and fall outs of a bunch of models I think?

Anyone know what I'm on about?!

First one could be the Keeley demon series by P. S. Powers maybe.
I can't remember the names of each one, there are three or four in the series iirc.

The Models one sounds really familiar, I'm sure you would get them free with Just 17 and Mizz magazine.

helpendoftether · 10/02/2021 17:23

Was the models one this?

I think I remember getting a free copy with a magazine and maybe buying the rest.

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 10/02/2021 17:42

Could the first one be ‘power’?

SmellsLikeAHamsterCage · 10/02/2021 17:44

Could the first one be one of the books in the Nightworld series by LJ Smith?

hauntedvagina · 10/02/2021 17:52

@helpendoftether

yes *@hauntedvagina* !! I remember getting the first one free!!
This is driving me mad now. I can even picture the cover of the book. I'm sure it was a sort of pale peachy cover with "Models", or something similar written down the side.

I've been Googling all afternoon and just can't find them!!

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 10/02/2021 17:54

The models one... Was each title a name?

SmellsLikeAHamsterCage · 10/02/2021 17:54

@hauntedvagina

Does this look familiar?

The link says 70s but I definitely remember reading them in the late 90s. Maybe the were re-published?

No, this isn't it. They had a real 90's London feel to them if that makes sense.

hauntedvagina · 10/02/2021 18:07

Ok, this is becoming slightly obsessive now. Reading this

www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.dailyedge.ie/90s-magazines-memories-1226753-Dec2013/%3famp=1

Seems to say that magazines actually serialised their own books which might be why Google's not throwing much up...

Neilsfavouritechilli · 10/02/2021 18:15

Ooo I remember the first nightworld book. I think it came free with Mizz magazine in the 90's.

PeskyRooks · 10/02/2021 18:30

I've been on eBay and there is a models one from mizz magazine. Screen kiss by Chloe rayban??
Used to love the books given away with just seventeen. Remember one about a girl wearing a green cord coat all the time because the boy she fancied wore one!

hauntedvagina · 10/02/2021 18:34

Good god @PeskyRooks that's it!!!!!!!!!

They were by Chloe Rayban.

PeskyRooks · 10/02/2021 18:49

Cool. It's only £2.39 on eBay too!! Bargain Grin

WetJan · 10/02/2021 19:33

Fearless by Francine Pascal?
The protagonist was Gaia Moore and the male friend was Ed? A skater boy in a wheelchair? I loved that series, have most of them still in a box somewhere.

helpendoftether · 10/02/2021 23:21

Omg wetjan YES!!!!! You are incredible thank you so much!!!

I’m 45 and still waiting for book 10 Of the nightworld series!

glasshalfsomething · 10/02/2021 23:40

You’ve brought to mind a very vague recollection of a book series that I’m sure was also magazine giveaways. Just Seventeen or Miss?

It was about a group of teenagers who lived on an island and got the ferry to school each day. I’m sure each in That series was named after the person in the friendship group it focussed on. There were sisters (who lived with their Dad and had lost their mother) and I’m sure one of the guys had lost a brother in a tragedy of sorts.

Anyone here have any memories of this at all?

Vellichor · 10/02/2021 23:45

Looks like there are quite a lot of Chloe Rayban ‘Models’ books for sale on abebooks website and for only a few pounds.
