Local cats coming in my house is par for the course. They have a look around, and even go up and sleep on my bed.

However, I had one doing it that was strong enough to open my fridge, and hook food out.

The only visiting cat I’ve ever barred.

A few years ago, my neighbours cat took a liking to us, but especially then toddler DD. The coming into the house was ok. But when she jumped up on to the table and ate DDs lunch we were all at a loss! Neighbours were mortified about the cats behaviour. DD started to get a bit scared of the cat, as it followed her everywhere.

I'm sure cat lovers would be horrified... But we had to use a water pistol in the end to deter the cat. After a few days, the cat backed off and didn't bother DD as much. Just used to sunbathe in the garden watching her. When the cat was injured in a fight, the owners had to come to our garden to give the medication as the cat refused to go near their house.

This is Paws. He is not my cat. He visits sometimes 3 times a day, plays with my cat, sleeps for hours and then disappears again. He is a bin diver and once tried to carry a full pack of tortilla wraps out with him "for snack later human"

I've installed one of the magnetic cat flaps that supposedly only lets your cats in as we seem to have been feeding the entire feline neighbourhood. I caught one of the cheeky fuckers in the kitchen eating having broken the cat flap to get in this week!

I wouldn't object to a neighbour using a water pistol on mine to discourage arseholery. (they behave impeccably however Wink)

One of mine had a girlfriend - she'd visit to play with him and eat his biscuits. Which evolved into ignoring him, eating the biscuits and sleeping on my bed and hissing at him. He was kind of heartbroken!

Our cat once came in through the cat flap (we can hear her do this from the living room), go back out, then come back in about a minute later. She usually comes to see us - to make sure we're all still there, I assume, she meows at us and then goes to her bed and has a sleep - but this time she didn't. We went into the kitchen to see what she was doing and she had a full sausage and a beef burger patty. We put our heads outside into the back garden and next door were having a BBQ. Turns out she'd gone and taken them off the plate next to the BBQ that they were putting them on when they were done. She got chased off after taking the sausage, and then the cheeky girl went back for a burger!!!! We apologised profusely and took them a bottle of wine. Thank goodness they found it quite funny, as we were absolutely mortified. She had a great night, and enjoyed her BBQ meat very much.

One we had when I was a child got hold of the Sunday joint and headed off with it. Mum got it back, washed it well and cooked it.

I have one who visits, fights with our cats and on one occasion was badly injured and I had to pay for x-rays and antibiotics. When fully recovered after 4 expensive veterinary visits he went home for a week before returning to howl at my cats all night long. All these cats have been neutered by the way so I don't understand the aggression.I live in the country where a fb post showing an injured cat would be totally ignored as they wouldn't want to pay vets bills.

There is a thread in Classics about a CF cat nicknamed TC who is the cheekiest of CF.

TC has a legion of fans so the thread is now in its third edition. It is addictive reading, in part because of the wonderful photographs provided by the OP, Grumpyoldpersonwithcats, and the wonderful responses by TC's admirers.

I was napping in an old house, left a window downstairs open (wouldn't usually but it was hot!). I woke up to my neighbours cat cuddled up to me on the bed Grin

RaggieDolls · 07/02/2021 13:21

When we first got a cat about 15 or so years ago we installed a cat flap. As we were idiots we didn't realise other cats would come through if we didn't install a magnet one.

Imagine my surprise on day two when I found the local CF cat using my cats litter test whilst my male, big bruiser of a cat just stood and watched.

GraduallyWatermelon · 07/02/2021 13:22

My own cat used to very slowly put his paws up to the curtain whilst watching us to see if we were looking. He just wanted us to chase him round the house!

MoodyMarshall · 07/02/2021 13:23

A CF stole my cat Shock

She lived behind us and kept removing his collar, and posted it through our door numerous times.

One day she finally turned up at our front door to ask which vet he was registered with: 'you're baby people, we're cat people'. ShockShockShockShock

She was utterly mad. Cat went to live with her because she wouldn't stop feeding it (his sister stayed with us).

@QueenPawPaws Paws is a legend! xx

I was drinking Baileys, and put my glass down on the floor next to my chair. When I went to pick it up, I found my cat and dog politely taking turns to drink it - cat putting his paw in and licking off the Baileys, and then the dog sticking his nose in and getting a tongue full.

I removed it and very shortly afterwards they both fell asleep!

bucketofcoffee · 07/02/2021 13:28

My cat often comes home, in the summer, with bits of meat from neighbours barbecues. He's brought in chicken wings, chunks of ham/gammon, several sausages...
He's also known for snaffling packets of dog treats. We don't know where they are from as we are the only house on our street with a dog. The dog appreciates new treats.

I'm a cat lover and I think water pistols are one of the best ways to deter errant cats. Doesn't harm them and is effective!

My own cats are CFs. They love my daughter and follow her everywhere. There's a new estate being built near our house and a park is part of it. One day I took DD after it had opened. Lots of ongoing building on the houses. CF cat came with us then hopped into a workman's van! He then appeared with a tin of tuna and fed her it off a spoon. When I spoke to him he said she's been going there daily for months and they all like to give "wee ginge" a pat and bring her snacks!

bluecitygirl · 07/02/2021 13:30

This is Roger, he lives with us and he is not our cat. He has now taken to guarding our cat flap against other cats who may want to come in. Came into the kitchen to find him fighting with another cat which was also not my cat.

My 2 cats were already 12 when we got a Labrador puppy. They were not impressed at all and sulked (mainly upstairs where the dog wasn’t allowed) for about 3 years!

Then one day I think the girl cat just had enough and walked into the living room where the dog was. The dog got very excited and was desperate to meet the cat but instead received a solid hiss and nose swipe and was sent on her way. The cat then proceeded to continue walking in like she owned the place and sat down right in the middle of our lab’s huge bed. The dog was relegated to the floor next to it and that is still the status quo 5 years later!

It’s a bit of a shame because when our lab spent a few day’s at my parent’s house one summer, we were sent photos of her snuggled up with my mum’s 2 cats so it’s purely the cat’s issue Hmm

CigarsofthePharoahs · 07/02/2021 13:35

Our old next door neighbor cat.
He broke the magnetic cat flap. Just kept bashing at it. Regularly popped in to meow at us. Him and our cat had a very love hate relationship, our cat loved swiping him round the face.
One night we were woken up by thumping and muffled noises downstairs. DH got up, armed himself with his cricket bat and crept downstairs to confront the burglars...
Which was next doors cat who'd found our bag of catnip. He'd torn it open and was rolling around in it, totally off his tits.

Unfortunately mine is the CF....

Had a call from next door neighbour to ask if I would mind extricating Ivycat from her bed as she was swiping her every time she tried to move her! 😂😂

Notmycat most certainly is your cat!

HarrietSchulenberg · 07/02/2021 13:49

My dcat, sadly long departed, was the neighbourhood CF. He used to visit my neighbour 3 doors down, bully her cats and spray in her house. He was a late neutered rescue and kept his old habits. We once witnessed him pin down another cat that dared to enter his garden and piss on it - my boys were delighted and thought him a hero.

Soubriquet · 07/02/2021 13:54

We used to have a black and white cat called Colin who would visit everyday.

He used to wait for his owner to leave in the morning and then hightail it over to my house

We used to leave a window open for our own cat and Colin would use that window as his own entrance

The amount of times we would find him in the kitchen helping himself to food Grin

Our cat normally hates other cats but she tolerated Colin. We were lucky he was such a lovely cat too.

As soon as owner got home, Colin would head home.

If Colin was running late, owner would knock on our door as he knew Colin would be there.

He used to call us his own personal cat sitter
