Local cats coming in my house is par for the course. They have a look around, and even go up and sleep on my bed.

However, I had one doing it that was strong enough to open my fridge, and hook food out.

The only visiting cat I’ve ever barred.

My mum's friend had a kitten who used a catflap to come and go as she pleased. One night the family was woken by a banging sound that sounded like burglars breaking in. It was their tiny cat attempting to fit a very dead and very stiff squirrel through the catflap in an attempt to pass it off as her own work.

One of my parents' cats brought in a live baby rabbit that my mum had to chase round the kitchen with a laundry basket to trap it. She released it back to the field behind their house where it had no doubt come from, watched in sad disgust by all 3 cats from the living room window.

Our late dcat used to steal food from our neighbours when they had a bbq and also from the westie two doors down. We've just adopted a ragdoll cross kitten, ragdolls are renowned for their greediness I believe, he got into the shopping delivery this morning and ripped open a bag of frozen meatballs. He also growls while eating cat treats, much to the bemusement of our other cat who wouldn't dream of taking them from him.

My cat once came back with a big piece of KFC style chicken - possibly discarded but it hadn't been eaten so mote likely they nicked it off some poor sod!

Same cat was also getting 2nd meals from the house 2 down from ours. Only found out when it came home with a new collar on!

Neighbours were mortified about the cats behaviour.

How very refreshing. Our neighbours have two cats which frequently invade our garden. This is a big problem for me as I have a cat allergy, but as far as the cat owners are concerned their pets can do no wrong.

Some friends of ours used to have a cat which was so fussy that it would only eat one particular brand of catfood - and not even that if the catfood was on special offer! (We can only assume that it could see the "Special Offer" sticker on the label.)

When this same cat had to be given medication, our friends crushed up the tablet and mixed it with the cat's food. Later they found the cat's bowl completely empty - apart from the crushed-up bits of the tablet.

An acquaintance had a cheeky cat I shall call Liam. Liam went to the next door neighbour's house, beat up their cat, ate the cat's food and then peed all over papers the neighbour had to use in court the next day. (Neighbour is a barrister.)

Liam is feline non grata at the neighbour's house.

One large massive ginger Tom was lounging in my bath! My two were sitting outside the bathroom which alerted me to the fact there was an interloper!

He used to lie in my neighbours bed too - she indignantly ordered me round to get 'my' car off her bed. She was slightly put out to be told that he wasn't in fact my cat (she hated us and was disappointed that she couldn't blame me for him CF'ery).

On the final occasion he can win he broke 2 dinner plates and brought down the lounge curtains.

AnneElliott · 07/02/2021 14:53

My friends Siamese was the CF. She used to steal glittery shut from all the kids in the road. Friend would have to put it all in a carrier bag and knock on each door and ask them to identity's their stuff.

Motherissues2020 · 07/02/2021 15:15

Our CF cats were collectors when they were young. They brought home childrens toys and balls from neighbours gardens and like to eat any bread our neighbours leave out for the birds.

Once when I had friends round for lunch, one of them stole a piece of pitta bread from my their plate and ran off to eat it under the sofa.

They now hang out under DDs highchair for any good bits that are dropped. I have to stay with DD while she is eating as they have jumped up and stolen things from her when I've popped out the room.

Our house backs on to the allotments and I know of two allotment holders that they have conned into feeding them.

One CFC has gone for a 'weekend away'. We were worried sick she'd been run over. But I got a call from the vets to say they had her on the Monday morning. A lady from the allotments thought she was a stray and had kept her in her shed and looked after her before taking her to the vets to get her checked out.

I've had to up my food game as she was being fed sheba at the allotments and turning her nose up to her normal food at home.

😻 I love this thread!

We met the most beautiful cat a couple of years ago and we befriended her when out in the garden, talking to her and fussing over her. She started coming in when the patio doors were open. Then she would come round to see us daily and stay until tea time and go off to her parents. Every day this continued for a couple of years, it was like kitty day care. She was so lovely. We named her Wizzy. She was all grey so we thought of Gandalf and came up with her name Wizzy the Wizard. She had no name tag on (micro chipped) so we never knew her real name.

She would come in first thing every morning, head straight up to sleep on her special towel on our bed. Stay there all day until she was ready to head home. This continued until her parents sadly moved away. We loved her and miss her so much. 😿 But we are sure she will have been ‘adopted’ by another family near her new home for kitty day care and cuddles.

P.s. Disclaimer - No active feeding took place. Only the odd CF moment where she snaffled any remnants of roast chicken that had fallen on the kitchen floor! We were once eating a tomahawk steak and she did manage to use her paw very adeptly to swipe some into her mouth too!

The grey cat is beautiful. I’d love her too.

I would love to meet some of these cf cats! Our cat is too shy to be a cf. But there is a gorgeous black cat that used to just wander in our house most days in the summer, like she actually lived here. Our cat was not impressed one bit and would shoo her out. Not seen the cat since about October.

willowmelangell · 08/02/2021 14:11

@LApprentiSorcier I laughed out loud at this GrinGrin

Notimeforaname · 08/02/2021 14:14

A cat (Paddy) I was taking care of for a few weeks smacked my brand new Andre Rieu mug off the sink and smashed it. That mug was one day old🤣😭

Springersrock · 08/02/2021 14:21

My cat is a CF.

He has perfected the “poor neglected kitty” act and hangs around our local co-op. He regularly features on the local list pets FB page with people posting that he “looks hungry” so they bought him a pouch of cat food 🤦‍♀️

He also puts on his little act by sitting outside on our living room window sill in horrible weather so passers by feel all sorry for him and come and knock on my door to ask if the poor little thing stuck outside in the cold and pouring rain is mine. He’s faking - he has a fucking cat flap

He’s getting a bit of a reputation now so he’s not finding it all quite so easy Grin

QueenArseClangers · 08/02/2021 14:45

Little old lady dog loves sitting on the back of the sofa to have a good nosey through the window/bark at a postie six miles away.
Came in today to find CF young ‘un cat proper catspreading (dramatic stretching arms and everything) and poor old dog a bit perplexed Grin
They’re worse than the bloody kids!

Cat brought home a whole side of fresh salmon from M&S, still perfectly wrapped. My mum stuck it in the freezer and we had it a few weeks later.

DontGoIntoTheLongGrass · 08/02/2021 14:53

My cat waits on neighbours doorstep. If a parcel comes and the neighbour opens door she runs inside and hides under the dining table.

I've told them to spray her with water Grin they said they feel bad for her. It's because previous owner used to like feeding her which I did ask them not to as she's too fat now.

Catwoman123 · 08/02/2021 15:10

A neighbours big Tom comes in our house whenever the doors opened..he ignores my 2 cats and proceeds to play with their toys ( which they never play with anyway) then once he's worn out, out the back door he goes.

bluecitygirl · 20/04/2021 18:21

I heard the cat flap go in the kitchen myself and my own two cats looked up, two cats rolling about fluff everywhere neither cats were my cats .

We also have a cat from a few doors down that has permanently moved in. Goes out for a wonder then back into mine.

ArtfulScreamer · 21/04/2021 10:55

My sadly deceased tabby was often a CF he once ripped in to the defrosting roast pork I'd left out without thinking and he also had a penchant for going fishing in the old lady opposites pond, she came across to me once whilst I was gardening to tell me what he'd been upto I immediately apologised and offered to buy her some more fish which she poo poohed as it would soon be breeding season, so I offered to buy her some netting to fix over the top of the pond but apparently the pond would be to big for this solution, I said about getting a water pistol or sprinkling pepper around the outside of the pond as I'd heard they didn't like this on their paws but all my suggestions were poo poohed in the end I gave up and said I'd have a word with him which she seemed satisfied with and shuffled off home

OddestSock · 21/04/2021 11:50

We went away on holiday last year and a friend popped in and each day to feed our cats.

When we came back, she told us how much our boy cat had grown and that she had had cuddles on the sofa with him every day. We thought this was odd as he is not a cuddly cat and is scared of everything.

Later that day, the cat flap went, both our cats were inside and an imposter appeared. He was a huge cat. Not our cat, but the mystery was solved.

Cherrysoup · 21/04/2021 18:46

Mine was a CF. He brought home a whole roast chicken one day, then a packet of bacon. If you were standing up eating something, he’d crawl up your legs/body to get to it. His favourite trick was to carefully bring in frogs and tap them to make them jump.

littledrummergirl · 21/04/2021 19:12

Growing up we used to have a cf who once came back with a cooked chicken, the same cat also managed to swipe chops from under the grill.
He used to wee in the toilet which was a neat trick.

Our kitten is shaping up to be a cf, she likes to walk backwards and forwards across the conservatory roof, sending the dog nuts. She's also recently discovered the front garden and will sit just outside the window watching as the dog goes batshit.

MouseholeCat · 21/04/2021 19:18

When I was growing up we thought we had a CF cat who was coming into the house at night and eating the cat food. We tested this a few times by putting food in the room with the cat flap and closing the cats out of that room to see what happened and the food was always eaten. We also went in once to find the rubbish bin knocked over and food everywhere.

Anyway, fast forward to one night when both my Mum and I were awoken by a noise downstairs. We both got up and came out of our rooms to investigate at the same time, went into the room and it was......

A CF badger!

We just closed the door and backed out as they can be quite aggressive. It must have been young to be able to get through a cat flap though.
