Who are you rooting for?

Allmyfavouritepeople · 07/02/2021 11:37

Yep yep. Mahomes all the way. Big fan of NFL since 2013. I am hyped!

KenAdams · 07/02/2021 15:52

I'm rooting for Mahomes, it would be incredible for his career, but I just don't know if he'll manage it.

BigMamaFratelli · 07/02/2021 15:58

I love Mahomes too

Was really hoping it would be the Packers rather than Buccs though so even more reason to root for the chiefs

Yes L.A Rams fan, hated Brady when he was at the bloody Patriots but he has shown he really is the GOAT at the Buccs.

I hope the Buccs win but think the Chiefs will be too strong for them.

Cherrysoup · 07/02/2021 19:42

Chiefs, all the way. We watched them at home on a road trip. There’s a cowgirl rides a pony round the field when they score a touchdown, hilarious!

KenAdams · 08/02/2021 00:25

Hoping I manage to stay up!

NiceGerbil · 08/02/2021 00:31

Yes. I have no idea what's going on.

What I do know is that today I've watched

Rugby- DH is a fan
Ski Sunday- both like
This American football- his choice

I pointed out that today he's essentially given me a smorgasbord of very very muscular men's bottoms.

I'm feeling ok with that.

He looked thoughtful. I reassured him that his was the prettiest.

My god the downhill skiers have bums and thighs like racehorses or something.

MouseholeCat · 08/02/2021 00:37

Yes, Chiefs all the way! I live in Missouri when the Chiefs won last year people were letting off fireworks until 2am. Not quite sure the celebration will be as big today as it's -13c and snowing out right now, but expecting sore heads tomorrow.

KenAdams · 08/02/2021 00:40

@NiceGerbil they have 4 chances to get to the line. They'll explain everything else on the BBC. The coverage treats people like they've never seen a game before.

-13 - I'm bracing for -7 here and thought that was cold!

DH was educating me and DD Grin

My complaint was always it's very stop start

But then I had a brief think and said well cricket used to go on for a week.

Then I went for a cigarette Grin

Is it me or are the players more athletic than they used to be. When I was a kid the fridge was the most famous one in the uk

BelfastBloke · 08/02/2021 01:08

The Refrigerator - William Perry for the Chicago Bears, beating the Patriots in the Super Bowl 1986

BelfastBloke · 08/02/2021 01:11

Nice Gerbil, which rugby nation do you and your DH support?

rawalpindithelabrador · 08/02/2021 01:15

I'm just up for the half-time show. My DH is American and he's up having a beer and eating nachos.

JaimeLeeCurtains · 08/02/2021 01:20

I do think the players are looking less brick-shithouse like than they used to, even the bigger lads.

NiceGerbil · 08/02/2021 01:22

Yay Belfast bloke! Same vintage Grin

I googled for DD and I do think the players have got more athletic as they have in rugby Union. There aren't the same tanks there used to be.

I'm not much of a sports fan. In the rugby? Loaded question innit Grin

We're both English. DH has Scots in the background i have Irish. Also an Irish friend whose son is v talented and hopefully will be an Ireland legend in the future

DH reminded me yet again that NI and Ireland play together for Ireland in rugby.

I don't want to answer your question! I dithered. I decided to support Wales.

Note. This was the same sort of thinking process that led me to support the one with the fluffy noseband (red rum era) in the big race and when my dad wouldn't give me money when a fluffy noseband horse won I threw a fit

On the upside. We're Saracens here. Tickets free from Aviva a few years back. DH took the girls to Twickenham for the London fighty thing.

Saracens are the locals Grin

Itscoldouthere · 08/02/2021 01:27

We are newbies to Canada so thought we’d watch.
Supporting the Buccs
No idea what’s going on (finding it a bit boring to be truthful )
But drinking beer and eating nachos so it’s not bad 😊
DH has also already watched rugby and (proper 🤣) football today.

grassisjeweled · 08/02/2021 01:28

Not sure who the half time act actually is?

NiceGerbil · 08/02/2021 01:29

I also once bumped into a team of Gaelic football players in an after hours situation in a pub in archway.

Those were the days Grin

I know nothing about Gaelic football but they were very nice.

Itscoldouthere · 08/02/2021 01:31

Well Canada will be pleased to see The Weekend as a main act 😊

KenAdams · 08/02/2021 01:34

I'm not thinking much of this half-time show so far.

OP posts:
rawalpindithelabrador · 08/02/2021 01:36

I had to Google who the fuck The Weekend is.

Iamanunsafebuilding · 08/02/2021 01:39

We're up, well DD bailed about an hour ago! I'm not an NFL fan as such but I do like live sport generally, DH has watched all season and we're supporting the chiefs... Got tomorrow off work thankfully!

JaneJeffer · 08/02/2021 01:40

No wardrobe malfunctions this year.

InglouriousBasterd · 08/02/2021 01:40

I can’t believe how packed the stadium is! It feels like a throwback to when we had people in stadiums!

I want the Chiefs to win as Tom Brady pisses me off.

Itscoldouthere · 08/02/2021 01:41

I think he’s been inspired by Micheal Jackson!
Must be hard to fill a big space like that, or am I just defending him as I feel some weird loyalty to Canada 🤣 (im only here on a temporary work visa).
