Please can you suggest a book that made you laugh out loud. I need more laughter in my life right now, and I am bored of streaming TV/film Shock

Jennings, particularly Jennings Goes to School - "Beware of the Thing" still cracks me up after decades.

I love Jennings. (Realises sadly all of my Jennings books are 300 miles away in my dad's attic...)

@Ormally

To the Gerald Durrell fans, if you haven't read 'The Picnic and Suchlike Pandemonium' then please seek it out - specifically the titular recounting of the 'Picnic.' Dorset, not Corfu.
@Ormally Thanks so much for this - I did immediately seek it out as recommended. The picnic chapter didn’t make me laugh so much, I’m afraid, but I’ve just started the cruise, and Larry is making me lol. Brilliant!

Enjoy!
Am I right in thinking that that is the book that also has a very good, very creepy ghost story as the final piece? Something set in a chateau? Be in the mood for it if you read it, if you see what I mean.

I've bought the diary of a nobody on the strength of this thread. So far, so good!

I have the children's PG Wodehouse tales on my wish list!

@Lovingtheglitter

Emma Kennedy's ' the tent the bucket and me' has got to be the funniest laugh out loud book I have ever read! One of those books I wish I could forget so I could read it again
Thanks for the recommendations! I'm only on page 23 and have chortled and guffawed several times!

Just what I needed! Thank you!

I don't really know how I managed to do this, I just tried to copy the paragraph to post it here.

Anyway, this has me crying with laughter. The imagery Emma Kennedy uses before you get to this part, just sucks you in.
